Food quality was very good but the staff took it up a notch. Very friendly staff. Had the seafood chowder and caesar salad. Friend had the pickerel tacos. Love it. Great place to had a meal and drinks in Parry Sound.

We were looking for a place to go for lunch and after checking out the menu online we decided on this restaurant. We briefly waited outside to be seated. We were seated a safe distance from others and my name and number was requested (covid...tracing). Although our table wasn’t clean upon arrival, it was cleaned in front of us (ketchup bottles etc were not wiped down). All visible staff wore masks. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, but it started to pick up which was nice to see. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We both ordered fish and chips. I found the pieces of fish to be on the smaller side, but they tasted good. The French fries were obviously made from frozen and the portion was small, but still tasted okay. Fresh fries would have made all the difference. The coleslaw was good. We ordered a Mudslide dessert to share and it was delicious. We will definitely return.More

We ate here on Saturday August 29th for lunch. The two waitresses were extremely stressed out; said they could not find people to work because of the CERB. We were very surprised that no one asked us for our name or contact number for contact...tracing. There were salt and pepper shakers and ketchup bottles on tables, where we have seen them removed from other restaurants due to Covid. We did not see the tables being cleaned after patrons left them and after eating there we just had a feeling of unease about the place. Turns out a few days later a staff member was tested positive for Covid. Had it been on the day we were there we would have never known as they did not ask us for our name or number. This is concerning to us and we would not return.More

We ate dinner here one night and found the food to be good however also found it to be a little overpriced for what you got. We had the Pickerel Dinner and the Fish Tacos. The server was very friendly and accommodating.

The service was fast and very friendly, but unfortunately that’s where it stopped. The Calamari appetizer was very sparse and the fish and chips were from frozen fish sticks. I was surprised when I asked the server if it was frozen, something she should have...told us before we ordered. Cole slaw came on the plate but it was warm because it came with warm food. It should have been served cold in a separate bowl.More

It's nice to be able to eat outside in September and enjoy the good weather. As we were eating on the patio trains went over the Trestle Bridge three different times. It was nice to see. The cafe offers Trestle beer, made a short distant...away. The beer is good. I had the lasagna. I enjoyed it. Lots of cheese and a big portion. It came with rosemary flatbread. Very bland. Cod and chips were just okay. One long slender piece of fish, a bit overdone. Friends had pulled pork and crab cakes. They didn't say anything about it one way or the other so I guess it was fine. Service was good. We went in the late afternoon. It wasn't busy. I find this restaurant to be hit and miss. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good but the location is good with lots of parking and a nice view.More

We stopped for lunch on our way home from Callander, ON. My wife wanted a plain chicken sandwich and soup. Nope! You had to order the club house and have the lettuce, bacon and the third piece of bread removed. I ordered the pickerel on...a bun; it tasted a little fishy but I ate it anyway ---- bad idea. We ate here last year and it was terrific --- maybe they are burnt out after a long hot summer.More

Saw this place on trip advisor and thought we'd give it a try. Went for an early supper andnit was pretty quiet but by the time we left it was fairly busy. They do take reservations. Diner type setting and food. Caesars were delicious.

Not wanting a full meal, we came here to share a few appetizers and were not disappointed. The place was quite busy (usually a good indicator) and the prices and portion size quite reasonable.

Try the fish and chips with a local brew, you won't be disappointed. Make reservations as this is probably the busiest place near the dock. We often meet visiting boaters from the US. The dock is a short 150 yard walk away. Ask for a...terrace table with a view.More

Outdoor seating with water views. Had the lobster the first night-very good, and the fish and chips the second night-even better! The best I’ve had outside of NFLD. Deep-fried mars bar is to die for and the service is excellent.

A nice location across from the harbour is about all this place has going for it. The fish and chips were very poor. Cod should be fresh and flaky. Instead it was a mushy mush. The clam chowder was thick with flour and nowhere near...what a good chowder should be. However our server was very pleasant and efficient.More

We went back to the Bay Street Cafe when the food is still good. The salmon was good, The grilled trout was quite good. The veggies were only grilled zucchini, and the baked potato large but quite well cooked. We were able to get Trestle...lager but no other beers from the local brewery, This is a standard restuarant that hasn't changed to meet modern preferences for more and fresh vagetables beside the fish.More

How can Bay Street Cafe ( A Seasonal Restaurant - operates for a 6 month period only), get a negative review on April 20th 2016, when it only opened for this season on April 29th 2016? As it was also advertised in the local Newspaper again this year (as it has been done in each of the previous years) The restaurant opens towards the last weekend in April and closes During the Thanksgiving Weekend. Same time that the 30,000 Island Queen Cruise Ship stops running for it's season. As it always has, (20 + years), since they first bought it from the previous owners. Also did you ask to talk to the owners? There is always at least 1 person onsite at all times. You just have to ask to speak with them. If they are not already downstairs at that time, then they are working in the office upstairs. I am not an owner nor a worker there (I have no vested interest) but I am an immediate family member. But I can guarantee you that, They are (as they always have tried to be) committed to providing quality food and service. If you have a problem with the food or service, then ask for them at that time so they can help deal with it right then. They can also address it and keep on top of it, so that it won't happen again. Even when Trying to constantly prevent/keep on top of everything, certain situations unfortunately can still arise. However, they can't address/correct any situation unless people actually Talk (Not Text) to them. Please do not assume that they will arbitrarily find any online site and see/read the reviews posted, & then somehow correct/address any concerns in regards to the restaurant. The same can be said, with thinking that someone else will tell them. 2 of the 3 co-owners are quite elderly and don't know how use computers. They are not the majority owners. They do care about the customers, and their opinions on the restaurant and food. During the 6 months the restaurant is closed for the season, they ensure that they have all the equipment pulled out, so that the entire place can be thoroughly & totally cleaned from top to bottom and behind everything. The floors get sanded and redone, and everything (inside and out) gets a fresh coat of paint. They then get the service people to check the equipment operation and repair anything if it requires it. Lastly everything is thoroughly washed and cleaned before the new season begins. Would anyone spend their winners doing all that if they did not care about their customers and their dining experience? They also carefully select what type of food, cuts, quality and where they purchase it from every year. If they wouldn't purchase it for themselves, they won't purchase it for the customers that come to dine at the restaurant. That is exactly how they think and feel when dealing & purchasing anything from any of their suppliers. I can assure anyone that they really do care. They are now open for this season. Spring & Fall Hours 11 am - 9 pm Summer Hours (July & August) 11 am - 11pm Thank You for taking the time and consideration for reading this. I hope everyone has a great day! Sincerely, SD
