Located right across from Island Queen cruise, so it is definitely a tourist spot. Service was mediocre, but to be fair they were busy and being early Sept, could have been short staffed with summer students headed off to school. Food was decent but nothing...More

Service was kind of slow. Food was average but was hot when it came out. Menu is your typical road-house fare with chicken wings, fries, burgers, etc. Our main complaint is, it's not open in the summer therefore we rarely go.

friendly staff but service can be very slow if more diners than predicted show up at a given time. All good but sometimes not enough staff. If you are going for lunch, take a lunch.

We wanted an early lunch before our Island Queen cruise and this was the most convenient place. The clam chowder was excellent but the club sandwich with it was insipid (and too big after the soup). My daughter ordered a salad that was good but...More

Pleasant surroundings and an enjoyable fish meal (one with baked potato, one with fries) plus a really fresh Caesar salad. The bottle of wine was reasonably priced. Would go again if in the area.

Was up in Parry Sound for the Thanksgiving weekend. A friend suggested Bay Street. Tasty food, decent portions and a good selection of meals to choose from. Not too expensive with only one concern, our server decided to go outside for a smoke and left...More

Questions & Answers
Ask a question
How can Bay Street Cafe ( A Seasonal Restaurant - operates for a 6 month period only), get a negative review on April 20th 2016, when it only opened for this season on April 29th 2016? As it was also advertised in the local Newspaper again this year (as it has been done in each of the previous years) The restaurant opens towards the last weekend in April and closes During the Thanksgiving Weekend. Same time that the 30,000 Island Queen Cruise Ship stops running for it's season. As it always has, (20 + years), since they first bought it from the previous owners. Also did you ask to talk to the owners? There is always at least 1 person onsite at all times. You just have to ask to speak with them. If they are not already downstairs at that time, then they are working in the office upstairs. I am not an owner nor a worker there (I have no vested interest) but I am an immediate family member. But I can guarantee you that, They are (as they always have tried to be) committed to providing quality food and service. If you have a problem with the food or service, then ask for them at that time so they can help deal with it right then. They can also address it and keep on top of it, so that it won't happen again. Even when Trying to constantly prevent/keep on top of everything, certain situations unfortunately can still arise. However, they can't address/correct any situation unless people actually Talk (Not Text) to them. Please do not assume that they will arbitrarily find any online site and see/read the reviews posted, & then somehow correct/address any concerns in regards to the restaurant. The same can be said, with thinking that someone else will tell them. 2 of the 3 co-owners are quite elderly and don't know how use computers. They are not the majority owners. They do care about the customers, and their opinions on the restaurant and food. During the 6 months the restaurant is closed for the season, they ensure that they have all the equipment pulled out, so that the entire place can be thoroughly & totally cleaned from top to bottom and behind everything. The floors get sanded and redone, and everything (inside and out) gets a fresh coat of paint. They then get the service people to check the equipment operation and repair anything if it requires it. Lastly everything is thoroughly washed and cleaned before the new season begins. Would anyone spend their winners doing all that if they did not care about their customers and their dining experience? They also carefully select what type of food, cuts, quality and where they purchase it from every year. If they wouldn't purchase it for themselves, they won't purchase it for the customers that come to dine at the restaurant. That is exactly how they think and feel when dealing & purchasing anything from any of their suppliers. I can assure anyone that they really do care. They are now open for this season. Spring & Fall Hours 11 am - 9 pm Summer Hours (July & August) 11 am - 11pm Thank You for taking the time and consideration for reading this. I hope everyone has a great day! Sincerely, SD
