The most delicious fish and chips. We had the haddock and it was perfectly cooked and flaky; the batter is incredibly light. Fries were excellent too and the coleslaw wasn’t overloaded with mayo (a pet peeve of mine). We chose a party pack to feed 5 adults and it was excellent value and more than enough food.

We had a great experience at Fish & Sips for lunch. Covid cleaning was top notch. The draft beer selection was mostly local brew, and served ice cold. We did the Halibut and chips, the fish was lightly battered and not greasy, and the chips were house made and delicious. Excellent lunch for sure!

Take out orders were bananas!!!!

First time, not last. Sanitizing practices were top notch. This place is hopping! Visiting from out of town. Judging by the MASSIVE amount of take out orders I have witnessed, I know why the locals love it. The portions were perfect. The key lime pie is outstanding. Our server was so sweet and our fish was beyond fresh.

On Thursday Aug 12th we stopped in for lunch at Fish & Sips. The fish & french fries were the best I have had in a very long time. The super friendly staff cleaned the chairs and the table before seating us out on the patio. They were patient as we looked at thier menu, then before we knew it, the food was on our table. Best chips (flavoured by hand (us) with malt vinegar), batter on fish was light and tasty. The staff moved the umbrella a couple of times when they noticed the sun was moving so that we stayed in shade. All in all, I would give it a 5 out of 5 in every category. Cheers !

We placed an order shortly before closing on a Tuesday evening. The person who answered the phone was very helpful and our pick-up order was ready on time. The portions were generous, the haddock was exceptional, the fries and creamy coleslaw were perfect. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Service was good. Set up outdoors, with sufficient distancing between tables. Piece of fish was thin and not tasty. Turns out I was served the leftover end. Server said no problem would replace so left with my fish, and left me the french fries and coleslaw to eat. Waited 15 minutes for the replacement. Replacement fish was very thin, and as a result ratio of fish to crust was not the best.

I’m disappointed if that was actually said to you, because there just isn’t such a thing as a “leftover end”. I will speak to the server, I’m the owner and I cooked your meal. Your fish was smaller than I wanted to serve you and so I cooked you another piece to make your order to my standards. I apologize for the inconvenience, but also want to assure you that we simply DO NOT serve sub-standard or “leftover ends”. All the fish we have each day is sold that day until we run out of fish. Also, fish takes 5 minutes to cook, not 15. I know you didn’t wait 15 minutes as I personally cooked your order. Thanks for your visit, happy to hear you enjoyed the rest of your experience.

Good food but check your order

We ordered 2 halibut and chips (with coleslaw) + calimaris for take out. Calimaris served with seafood sauce tasting like ketchup. No coleslaw nor dressing or even lemon with the halibut and chips. Due to covid you just go in to pay and pick up your bag. It seems (owner's comment) there is a table in the middle of the restaurant where you can fin tartar sauce. Ask for it or explore yourself and don't hope someone is gonna to tell you. If you want some lemon, you should ask for it too for your fish and chips. The fish was really good otherwise. Home made fries (I think) are also good. No tartar sauce in the bag and the seafood one already commented.

Yes, ALWAYS check your order please, no matter where you shop. Always make sure you’re ordering correctly as well, and getting everything you want and need, so you leave happy. Nothing is worse for a business owner than hearing about a problem that could so easily have been solved at point of sale. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Today is a stunning sunny day so we decided to eat on our own patio minus the cooking ... We had the haddock & chips, scallops and a Greek salad. The haddock was simply perfect, the fries very good. The Greek salad was just right, serving easily 2 as a side dish and we appreciated the fact that the dressing was on the side so not to make it a soggy mess. Husband, the scallops connoisseur, declared the scallops good ... my translation is, they were very good ! We shall definitely return. Oops, forgot: the gentleman who took our order, was kind enough to bring it outside, to the car. Thanks !!!

This is a tiny restaurant downtown Collingwood. I had ordered the haddock and chips along with some calamari for takeout. The service was quick and friendly. I went just after 7 PM on a Saturday night and got parking right out front. There is a little satin for takeout orders where you can get your condiments and cutlery yourself. While the calamari was cooked nicely the batter could have been a little bit more seasoned. I found the fish to be a little over cooked and was a little hard to break apart. The fries were done well and were great!

Thanks for visiting us! We are almost finished a massive restaurant expansion, so we won’t be tiny very much longer. There’s no batter on our calamari, it’s a breading and most of our food comes unseasoned, so you can finish it to your specific liking. We do marinate our calamari in tzatziki sauce before it’s tossed in breadcrumbs and flash-fried, it gives it the perfect flavour. The fish is designed to be very crunchy, because I’m tired of everyone else’s fish and chips being greasy, soggy and gross. I’ve never heard of anyone liking that, and not liking crunch instead!

Love the Fish. Wish there was a premium fry offer like double or triple cooked vs mushy fries. Advertised an accompanying beverage (beer or cooler) for $5 however charged $7.

We use local Ontario potatoes grown only 40kms away. Triple cooking or double cooking isn’t a solution. That won’t work. Using frozen, packaged fries would result in “perfect” but do you really want that? It’s a seasonal product when you buy local, the benefits being a much lower carbon footprint in shipping and handling as it’s only 40kms to the farm versus on a truck from another country. Perfect frozen, pre-processed product in a plastic bag or local farm? We choose local and consequently the varieties available are subject to change. Also, the drinks price you quoted is advertised in takeout for takeout only pricing, not sit down table service in our dining room. You’re right about the fish, though… No one can come close to the quality we produce day in/day out at Fish&Sips. Thanks for dining with us!

Lunch was a 10 out of 10 !!

My wife and I went to Fish & Sips for my birthday. At first we were going to pass because the Trip Adviser picture look kind of cheap ! How wrong we were !! As we walked along looking for another restaurant we cam across this place and it looked better that the picture, so went inside and the place was very nice, and had a clean modern look. The best part however was the food. We shared the Calamari (so good !! ) to start and then each had Haddock and Chips. Not only was the batter fresh light and crispy, the fish was soooo fresh. I like a lot of Tarter sauce, so asked for more and they brought over a Hugh bottle and said '' Please take as much as you want.'' - This place is a 10/10 !!

Fabulous and consistently good food. We love the owners and all the staff are friendly. They have French fries that are freshly pressed and absolutely delicious. The fish batter is also light and cooked just right.

Great Fish and Chips

My daughter and I visited Fish and Sips while on vacation in the area. I can honestly say that these are the best Fish and Chips that I have tasted since leaving England in 1987. Great, authentic batter. Light and crispy. I come from the east coast of Yorkshire where Fish is caught fresh. The Fish and Sips variety were AMAZING and yes, authentic. Great price too!!!! 😊 Thank you Fish and Sips for a great meal. We will be back on our next visit to the area.

Truly Yummy!

By far, the best fish and chips in the region of Simcoe, and I've tried most places in the region. I especially love that the fish ratio to the batter is substantial in thickness and not a thin piece of fish beneath a very thick batter. They also use beef tallow oil. Super lovely owners. The problem is once you have fish & chips here, it becomes the benchmark for comparing other fish & chips restaurants. I honestly haven't found one as good in the region yet. Truly Yummy!

Never disappoints!

It was our pleasure to return to Fish & Sips last week on our annual vacation and learn that, despite the ever-changing COVID landscape, they are thriving and even expanding the restaurant. We were seated on the patio and enjoyed excellent service from Jenn. And the food - as always, the halibut was perfectly cooked in their almost tempura-like special batter. We also had the grilled haddock with Greek salad. Again, the fish was expertly cooked and bathed in a delicate lemony sauce. We hope to be back next year!
