Visited today and I'd say my review is pretty much the same as my visit from 2014. This place is average; not as great as everyone says in the reviews. Halibut and fries were fine. It always amazes me when a fish & chips place serves tartar sauce in those little packets. Decor is extremely plain Jane with folding chairs.... More

It was a rainy day and our cottage is an hour away. As usual I want fish'n chips on a Friday. I was ordering take-out when the kind woman noticed I wanted to eat-in, poked her head out and told my husband, I promise to make it worth your while if you eat-in and we were both satisfied after eating... A bit pricey .... but overall a good place to get your fish and chips on.... Staff are super friendly which makes this a great comforting place to go! Good selection and from what I've been told, everything is fresh... maybe that's the reason for the prices! Overall I enjoyed it! I'll be going back in the future.

I had the clam chowder, which is definitely home-made and absolutely packed with clams. My husband had the cod and chips. Everything was really hot a freshly cooked. The batter is crispy, the cod is a perfect portion size for us. Definitely cod too, not some nameless white fish that too many restaurants try to pass off as cod or... More

Have eaten through their takeout several times. Good portion size and the right amount of batter on the fish. Excellent fries. Small eat in area. Bring cash. Thee is an ATM on site but they do not accept debit or credit cards.

I checked out this gem on our way back to Toronto, yestetday. Very light batter with perfectly cooked generous piece of halibut. The clam chowder is also a must-try. I had to order couple orders to bring home. Very friendly and cheerful service Definitely want to return to try the cod loins and maybe the smelts. Oh even the fries... More

This restaurant was one of our yearly motorcycle trip destinations and we loved the food and the homey atmosphere. However, I believe it was sold last year and, although they still serve the halibut and it is still delicious, it will not be our destination again. The portions are a lot smaller, the order is just the fish; you have... More

We try to have dinner here at least once or twice a month. We love it and have never been disappointed. The batter is lighter and less greasier than other fish and chips shops that we have been to. My wife is not a big fish eater but loves the fish at For The Halibut Fish and Chips.
