This restaurant is hands down one of the best in Cape Breton, we have never had a bad meal here, it is always consistently fantastic! The owner usually comes around and personally checks to see if you’re enjoying your meal, great attention to detail.
We booked a table at the Black Spoon Bistro after spending an afternoon in Sydney. It was a bit off the beaten path, but boy was it well worth it!
I assumed the restaurant was very high class and pricey, and while the quality of...the food is outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, where I found I could speak plainly and have a good laugh with the servers.
We started with a spinach salad and the mussels in cream sauce. This was the first time we enjoyed mussels together, and the portion was VERY generous! Then on to the mains, I have a honey cajun chicken pasta, and my fiancee had the scallop carbonara. My pasta had a very pleasing sweet heat, and again the portions were generous and tasty. Saira's pasta was creamy and rich! I don't want to forget to mention a nice cocktail, beer and wine menu that serves local Big Spruce on tap!
Overall our experience was pleasantly comfortable, with some of the greatest cheer and best customer service we received on our trip! A resounding 10/10!More
What a great place for lunch. Gourmet bistro with everyday lunch prices. Their evening meals are absolutely incredible. Whatever they have on their lunch special will satisfy you. Busy spot, but fast and friendly.
Very popular eatery managed by very friendly staff. My wife enjoyed her pasta meal whereas I ordered a steak and although I didn't complain - being Canadian - the fat and gristle were totally disappointing. Rarely have I had such a poor piece of meat...- perhaps I was just unlucky with the meat selection that night. Regardless I would return to try again. The popularity has to mean something.More
