We were very lucky to get a table for dinner at Bette's Kitchen after our long drive from Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The four of us each ordered the hot roast beef sandwich and the portion was huge for the $13 value! Best value...in town for what we got. Restaurant is quite small for the amount of customers they have coming through the door. Our waitress/server Andrea was wonderful and welcomed all customers with her bubbly personality even though the place was jammed packed with people coming in to pick up their orders. Bette's Kitchen closes at 7 pm so make sure to arrive before 6:30 pm to be guaranteed a seat or at least to be able to place a take-out order.More

This is a small restaurant that many locals go to. The meals are large and tasty. There are not many seats and tables so go early or be prepared to wait a little bit. I had the cheeseburger and fries and it was good. The...hot roast beef sandwich is a big seller and was also tasty. There is a senior menu that all items are just $9.00 so well worth the money. Stopped by and grabbed some supper for the family, food was great, even the kids enjoyed it, my son raves about the poutine and asks for it often.

I ate here last year and the scallops were the best so couldn't wait to eat here again. I was very disappointed. The scallops were over-fried and although they were okay my expectations were dashed. The fries were also a bit greasy. I'm sure every...place has good days and not so good days, this visit was on a not so good day. Because the scallops were so good last year I would try Bette's again.More

Small family owned restaurant. Small and quaint, well decorated with car photos. Great food, reasonable prices, with large servings. You won't leave hungry. Specials every day. Take out available, and the locals keep coming back for more.

I have to reply to this comment below, As someone who eat's at Bette's regularly there food is always consistent. On this paticular day I was also someone who waited for my meal along with many other's as it was busy that day. The poor...staff were working as hard as they could and as fast as they could to make our food hott and delicious. Our table sure enjoyed ours. And the server was wonderful as always bubbly and very happy.(If you look closely there is a bottle of sanatizer at her station.) Sometimes we let our impatience impact our judgmement. I hope before you decide to write comments like these about another place you take the time to see and respect the hard work these types of restaurant's do.More

I recently visited Bette’s kitchen and ordered a burger and fries after waiting 20 minutes I asked when my order would be ready I got a rude response from server whom I watched for 25 minutes handling money and food without washing her hands when...I received my order the cook came out and asked what the problem was I told him 25 minutes for burger and fries was totally unacceptable he told me that they didn’t want my business anyway when I got home with my food there was a big long brown hair on top of the fries not sure if it was done intentionally or not. It’s a shame that this place has came to this as it used to be good food and very efficient with getting you order in a timely manner not any longer seems they are relying on past ownersMore
