About
The Gathering Tree Eatery & Gift Shop was created around a small, yet powerful belief. That it is possible to create a great little shop in a very small town & to thrive. To create a special place that could give something back to all who come through it's doors. Whether it's the soothing atmosphere, a great cup of coffee - perhaps a tea, homemade lunch accompanied by relaxing music & conversations with friendly people, or the purchase of a gift you will cherish forever. We wanted to create a high integrity, affordable alternative to a world that spins sometimes a little too fast. It has been in the giving that we have received. The Gathering Tree -truly is a place where friends gather!

My mother and I stopped here on our way to Edmonton to visit family and for me to get a cancer treatment. The lady at the till was wonderful. Friendly and helpful. We stopped both going to Edmonton and on the trip back. It was suggested that my mother try the coconut curry dish they have on the trip back and my mum loved it. Not spicy hot but very tasty my mum commented. The coffees we had were also very good. The service we got was very friendly and helpful. We will stop here again.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and so glad I did. Had the grilled chicken sandwich which was so good. The chicken was super moist and the sandwich was loaded with peppers, onions and cheese. The bread was also delicious. It was served with crispy kettle chips. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere. Thank you!

Loved their food so much and the hospitality of the staff. You could tell they took a lot of pride and used fresh vegetables and ingredients in all of their recipes. Their Samosa Panini‘s are incredible! I would definitely recommend eating here if you want to stay healthy when you are hiking and need a comfortable place to eat. We often sat out on the patio.

Don't go if you believe it's important to follow COVID restrictions. The server who brought out my potatoes and toast wasn't wearing a mask ... well, she was wearing it under her chin. She breathed all over the food as she carried it and put it down on the table, not two feet under her face. I said, um, you just breathed all over my food. She said sorry and walked away. She wore the mask for about a minute after and then took it off again while she walked around the kitchen. Another woman was walking around the kitchen without a mask. Then she went to clear tables without a mask. She said she'd just forgotten to wear it. Also the place was very poorly ventilated, if at all. Light smoke was hanging in the air when we walked in, presumably from the bacon they were cooking. Valemount is a nice town and every business there seemed to take COVID serious except the Gathering Tree. We need to support local business during these difficult times, and local business needs to follow the rules so they can remain open. That is, if they believe COVID is real. Maybe the Gathering Tree doesn't. The eggs were good. I didn't eat the potatoes the server breathed on. I would stay away from this place, folks, until they take the health and safety of their staff and customers seriously.

We stopped in on our way to Edmonton. After having politely ordered lunch I noticed on the receipt under Ticket; Ahole. Yep, that is right and from the owner. When I asked about a paper to read, I was informed that I would have to pay $2. Fair enough. I declined again politely. While we ate our meal we were constantly being glared at. And then told very loudly as we left to, "Have a nice day." We were a mixed party of Caucasian and indigenous folks who were hungry. Not going back there for quite some time, while this owner is in place. Wow! If a ticket says Ahole...then I would presume that this is done to people in general when she feels like being superior to others.

I love supporting local, but the individual who was taking orders was incredibly rude and inappropriate. Example: She told us that we could eat at A & W on the highway. The way a customer service individual makes a paying customer feel when ordering reflects their overall experience and their opinion of the restaurant.

The owner was witnessed cussing out an ill/disabled person who tried to enter with their service dog, who was behaving perfectly. The handler was being polite, simply saying they’d been in multiple times before and other staff were always welcoming. It’s one thing to deny service dogs (which is still terrible), but she literally cussed them out for no reason. She really shouldn’t be in business if she treats people this badly.

Stopped in with a friend while visiting the town. We could not believe it , when we witnessed the owner, out of no where start belitting and yelling, cursing out this young woman who was sitting on a bench with her service dog. This poor young woman wasn't doing anything to deserve the treatment she was getting from the owner. We were appalled. Definitely will not be back.

Definitely worth a visit! The staff was so helpful in helping us decide what to order. I had a chicken apricot cheese sandwich on GF bread and it was so delicious! Fresh and tasty. My colleague had a falafel wrap and thought it was very good as well. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing. Hope to visit again.

Friendly staff and great food. This little coffee stop is well worth the stop. Even the owner came out and wished us a happy day. And we are foreigners. I would recommend The Gathering Tree to everyone looking for a quiet friendly tasty spot to enjoy a good coffee plus.

We ordered chai lattes and dessert squares they were quite good. When we took them on to the patio to soak up the sun we realized our teas were cold. No problem there they were wonderful and remaking our drinks and apologizing for the mix up. Stop there if your passing through.

Unfortunately we pass this way only about once a year on our way from Vancouver Island to Edmonton for Christmas and one of the first things we say to each other as we drive off the ferry is "will we be in Valemount before The Gathering Tree closes?" Sometimes it is that day, sometimes the next, regardless we always stop. Good coffee, pleasant service and excellent soup and sandwich. A great stop

Driving across Canada, we needed to stop for lunch and picked the Gathering Tree totally at random. Just had a sandwich and a coffee but the food, was great, staff were friendly and it was full of locals which is always a good sign. Will almost certainly never pass this way again but glad we stopped here rather than a generic restaurant chain.

I had a great time checking out The Gathering Tree. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. The salmon dill panini was delicious too. Definitely worth checking out.

Great little café, lovely, peaceful atmosphere, great food and drinks, wonderful staff. I visit the Gathering Tree every time I travel to Valemount and I always bring my friends and family there too. My service dog loves it there too as you can see in the pics, and Tanya, the owner of the café, and her staff are always super accommodating and respectful of him. Highly recommend this place.
