We ordered take-out. The chicken chow mein turned out to be a plate of boiled noodles with a very thin top dressing of finely-ground chicken: flavourless and cheap. The mushroom rice was similar a plate of rice with what appeared to be sliced mushrooms from...a can as a top dressing. Equally tasteless. The sweet and sour pork came as dry, deep-fried pork balls with a side of sweet & sour sauce filling about one half of a styrofoam coffee cup. (The tiny serving of sauce was a particular disappointment as we could not use it to flavour the tasteless dishes). The saving grace was the curried beef chop suey. It had generous vegetables and we ordered it hot, and though it wasn’t particularly spicy, it did have flavour — which we tried to spread over the tasteless rest. We will certainly not give them another try.More

Chow mein was cold Mr noodles with chicken powder on top. Almond chicken was deep fried in dirty oil and was completely dried out. Sweet n sour chicken balls deep fried in dirty oil too with barely any sweet n sour sauce. Simply disgusting. Waste...of moneyMore

We went to Polly's for lunch. The food was delicious, very fresh and not loaded with msg or salt. I will go back to Polly's next time I'm in Terrace.

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. Poor cooking, poor ingredients. The battered dishes were mostly soggy battered with what I can only describe as mediocre poor quality meat. Prawns were hard. Definitely not anywhere close to being fresh. Sweat and sour boneless pork was...battered with a thick soggy batter with a sweet and sour sauce on the side. Never did get my pork fried rice. Almond chicken looked like the almond was shaken out a can like a powdered almond. Total crap. Ended out throwing out the leftovers. Will never go back.More

Went on a Wednesday Night - had an order of Deep Fried Wontons and a Combo Plate with Sweet and Sour Boneless Pork, Egg Foo Yung and Chicken Chow Main. It was Delicious! Polly's has the Best Deep Fried Wontons in Terrace! My Chinese Food...was Delicious! There was so much food I had Left-overs for another meal! My Waitress was really nice and I made sure to leave her a big tip - there is a reason why Polly's is so good - it is because of the quality of food and the good service!More

So, I’ve read on here and on other travel sites that Polly’s Café offers “the best” Chinese food in Terrace. Reading so many positive reviews, I was understandably anxious to check it out – and did so recently. Now, I want to be clear: I...am fully cognizant of the fact that Terrace is not some bustling metropolis, and so went in to Polly’s fully expecting and anticipating Westernized Chinese cuisine – and that’s exactly what I got. And, you know, Westernized Chinese food is often really good. But, was Polly’s? Before I get to that, I`ll make a few other remarks about the place. Personally, I really loved the atmosphere and décor – very relaxed – and, for me, it was a throwback to the 1980s small town Chinese restaurants I remember: the flooring, the walls (and their colour), the Chinese decorations, goldfish tanks, the brown chairs/booths, and even the plates were all very reminiscent of that particular time period. As I sat there in the nearly empty restaurant (though there were apparently quite a few takeout orders), I couldn't help but think back to my childhood and the many hours spent sitting in similarly constructed Chinese eateries. Ah, nostalgia! Polly's Café gets extra marks just for that! Okay, so nostalgia is great, but what about the food? Well, I have to say if Polly's Café really is the benchmark when it comes to Chinese cuisine in Terrace, then the bar, unfortunately, isn't very high. It almost pains me to say that given how much I like the atmosphere, but it`s true. I mean, the menu is extensive – as most Westernized Chinese menus are – but what I ordered just really didn't stand out. The eggroll was fine and had some good flavour; the garlic prawns were OK – and just OK. There were plenty of them, and the garlic sauce was decent, but the presentation was lacking, even for Westernized Chinese – prawns, green peppers and celery. And I'll steal a quote from my dad to describe the chicken wings I ordered: they "looked sick." Very pale. Very unappetizing in appearance. The sauce they were slathered in didn't stick to them very well and so was almost a non-factor. The wings also carried the exact same presentation as the prawns (see photos). The chow mein? How boring! In all honesty, I was having flashbacks of sitting in Prime Time Café. . .plain chow mein noodles with a bit of shredded chicken on top – nothing else. Kinda sad, actually. Now, to be fair, none of the food was bad per se. It was just incredibly bland and uninspired – even as Westernized cuisine. It didn't stand out. So, if Polly`s is truly “the best” when it comes to Chinese food in Terrace – as so many reviews on this site and others suggest – then that is, from my perspective, very disappointing. FOOD: 2/5 SERVICE: 4/5 (very friendly and efficient) VALUE: 2.5/5 RECOMMENDATION: Polly's offers your typical small town Chinese food. It's just kind of there. It's a bit pricey for the quality you get, but if it is the best in town...More

Good service and good food. We have been coming here for many years and was never disappointed. Our preferred choice is combination number 12, I order as is but my wife switch the chicken balls for sweet and sour boneless pork. Both choice are excellent.

I'm not a raving fan of many of the Chinese restaurants in Terrace, as I have a taste for authentic Chinese (Dim Sum!!) and those, you can really only find in larger centers. But since we have what we have, Polly's is as good as...they come. You don't leave hungry. The only problem I saw is that they have a very large take-out clientele, and the staff doesn't seem to be able to efficiently handle both the people coming in to pick up orders AND the people already seated in the restaurant. The staff was friendly, and to be fair there was 1 girl trying to handle 2 moderate tables and a very large 10+ group. A table beside us never got one of their orders, yet they were charged for it, but our order was fine. I have been there more than once and I would go back again.More

I love this place - it's cozy, unassuming, super friendly baristas, cute atmosphere, and the perfect place to chill out and read a book after a long day of LNG construction (gotta get your share while they're still handing out money!)
