How could you not like this place? Airplanes, jet fuel and good food. How could it get any better? We stopped on this Sunday morning for a great breakfast. A couple of omelettes and great service. We left content as we always do.

The food was excellent and worth the wait, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. We were visiting from out of town and did not know that reservations were recommended. We arrived at 3 hours before closing on Friday night and were lucky to get...a table. Unfortunately the server made it very clear that we were more of a bother to her. Every time she talked to us, she made comments like "sorry, did not get a chance to roll up your cutlery in the napkin", "sorry, I forgot you were my table", etc. By the time we were finished eating, it was still about 1 hour before closing (food took about 40 minutes to arrive) and she never bothered asking us if we wanted coffee or dessert. The guests behind us came after us and their server tended to them much more than ours to us, even offered them dessert and coffee. Our server totally ignored us and after waiting patiently for a long time we had to ask for the bill, even though she was clearing the tables around us and saw that we were finished. When she finally brought the bill, she said, "sorry, but after the hurricane that came through today, I totally forgot that I still had your table to look after". I totally understand that currently many restaurants are understaffed, but to let your customers know at every moment that they are not welcome, is not acceptable. We were patient, never bothered her and always friendly. Even though the food was top, I truly don't feel like returning when we come back to Sidney soon again.More
Wonderful dining experience at the Spitfire Grill tonight. Our server Amanda went above and beyond with her attentiveness, efficiency and calmness, while helping to serve a full house. Even though tonight was very busy, Amanda remained calm and cheerful. Food came out prompt, tasty, well...presented and worthy of 5 stars. Overall, an excellent dining experience that leaves us looking forward to many more visits.More
Friendly service, excellent halibut burger, very helpful staff. Take out or eat in. Hoping they’ll finally get outdoor seating set up.
We had one member of our family flying out so what a perfect time to visit the Spitfire Grill. Great atmosphere and excellent service. Of course, our meals were also fantastic. This place is a wee bit out of the way, just go past the...terminal turnoff and you will see it on the right-hand side. Once inside you will feel at home and relaxed. The staff are fussy about Covid protocols. We've been a couple of times in the last few months and highly recommend that you stop by.More
Very convenient by airplane probably could park 4 or 5 light aircraft. Good value and delicious food. November 23/2022
Being Ex Air force and meeting my two sons off the local ferry (one of which is a Pilot) I thought it would be interesting to dine there and enjoy the view of the airport. Not knowing the place had changed hands the new owners...seem to have stripped the memorabilia of old photos, aircraft models and other aviation related material from the restaurant leaving the walls and ceiling a stark bareness of former days. I know this supposed to be a review of the food and my Rueben was inedible and my son a Vegan had a choice of two items on the menu ( one of which was not available on that day ) so sorry Spitfire Grill, cant say I will be returning soon.More
Really nice visit to a unique restaurant. The food was good, not great, but we sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of an airport. Service was really good despite them being short staffed. Nice visit!
Enjoyed the seafood chowder. Good service. Helpful staff. Good idea to order ahead for take out. Be sure to ask for crackers.
We were here last weekend for dinner. This was our second visit since October. Both times we have had excellent service and food. Our first visit, I had fish and chips which were cooked perfectly. My LDC had the meatloaf and thought it delicious. Last...weekend I had the grilled halibut. Again, cooked perfectly. My LDC this time got brave and tried the dinner special. It was a spicy pasta special that the chef toned down for him. I had a prawn out of his dish and it took me back to New Orleans. Very good. I am looking forward to going back and trying the seafood crepe. There seemed to be at least one going to every other table. Sorry to see some of the negative reviews on here. Not our experience at all as of January 23 2021.More
If you want a view that is different from the typical oceanview you get (and pay higher prices for) in Victoria/Capital Regional District, then come here. It is good solid entertainment to see the planes taxi on the runway and fly off on departure, including...the smaller planes from the nearby Victoria Flying Club. As for food, it wasn't memorable but it was freshly prepared -- we waited over 30 minutes to get a burger, chicken tenders, Cobb salad and fish tacos. (The taco shells were dry but the fish filling was very saucy with lots of kale that stuck between the teeth. Messy.) So don't come here if you need to catch a plane but rather come after arrival and take your time. Covid protocols are in place: distanced dining tables, furniture wiped down, hand sanitizer at the door, servers wearing masks. Diner booths and wooden tables inside with big windows for plane viewing; some tv monitors on the walls. Very reasonably-priced casual dining. Some regular locals go here. Wheelchair- and family-friendly. Service was kind. Plenty of car parking but could use bike racks (there are good trails out there).More
As I have never been here before, my friends said let's go to the Spitfire for breaky! I always like to eat at the airport so away we went. We got our order in a reasonable time. The service was good and the plate of...food tasted good! No complaints at allMore
In the past six months or so, we have had Sunday brunch a number of times in this restaurant. In has a great view of the runway, lots of windows, even some booths. While sometimes the restaurant is a bit slow, we never minded as...it was a pleasant place with great food and service. Today was not a “bit slow”, it was absurd. We were a table of four, all ordering from the menu, and received our food one hour and 30 minutes (plus) after ordering. When we enquired (at about one hour), the server came back and said they would take 20 % off the bill. One eggs Benedict had muffins so hard they could not be cut, were hardened and looked like they had sat on a grill. Another “hot” meal was completely cold - when we commented to the server, she just smiled and shrugged. I politely suggested that perhaps they were short staffed (known in the industry as the “Sunday morning flu”), and she said no, everyone came to work ok. So two barely mediocre meals, two VERY poor, partially inedible meals, two coffee and one Diet Coke (after a 20% discount), ended up costing $53 before a tip. As we were leaving, we discussed with our friends that we won’t be back. I understand there is a new owner, from reading here. Time to hire a more experienced cook/chef.More
We walked into the Spitfire Grill for the first time and was less than impressed with the state of the place. It really needs renovating in a bad way. The menu they have is very basic and small which I like because if the menu...is small it usuallly means everything is fresh not frozen. The food was surprisingly not bad. The service was exceptionally good. Due to the appearance inside the resturant we really didn't expect much but we will for sure return.More
You can eat in this little friendly restaurant right on the runway at Victoria airport. And the food is wonderful! Kudos to the chefs.
