We went to this restaurant twice for lunch during our four day stay in Sidney because we enjoyed the food so much. The crab and shrimp crepe was wonderful and the black-cod mango wrap was delicious too. We would also highly recommend the salmon-corn chowder. The beer was ice cold and you can see the ocean clearly from the restaurant.... More

A perfect early dinner stop during our tour of Sidney, we were greeted by a music and song from a couple of local guitarists. This made for a nice backdrop to our dinner which we enjoyed while watching the boats entering their moorings through the many windows that provide the vista. The warm wood construction makes you feel like you're... More

I am new to the area, and went out looking for a new place to enjoy. Came across this cute little pub, and was able to snag a table with a view of the water & marina. There were plenty of Vegetarian options, and a great selection of home-made comfort foods. The staff was very friendly, and very informative on... More

Omagosh, we love the Rumrunner when my Wife and I want a quiet place to go. Rumrunner hasn't failed... UNTIL NOW! It was evident it was 'fish night'. Unfortunately, we did not know it was 'old fish night'. This was not a pleasant experience nor was it a good meal. We ordered the halibut as anything would have smelled like... More

I conduct business meetings here on a regular basis and also come here for lunch or beer during the week. The service is always spot on and the food has always been spot on. It's got the view and location for Sidney. Can't beat it!

We ate here in the summer on their patio for dinner a couple years ago, and it was full. The kitchen was slammed and buckled under pressure. I ordered a Cioppino. It was missing shrimp and mussels, unlike the order from the table next to mine, despite clearly being mentioned on the menu. I asked our server, what's up with... More

We enjoyed excellent service, provided by Jenni. The view was beautiful and the food delicious on a cold and windy day in Sidney. Great little pub!

Okay, this place must be doing something right as it was very busy at lunchtime. Our party pitched up without a booking and were assured we'd get the next table. Fine, we'll wait, it's to be expected. However, having to wait near the washrooms (and other guests trying to get past), our kids getting restless, hungry bellies and after frequent... More

We stopped in at the Rum Runner to kill a bit of time before a flight out of YYJ and had a beer and couple of appetizers. We were seated in the restaurant side which had a lot of really nice natural light and a decent atmosphere. The yam fries were really yummy and spinach and artichoke dip was one... More

We stopped here for a meal after a stroll along the water front at Sydney. The location is great and the menu looked good, but the actual food was a little disappointing. Certainly not the worst pub food we have ever had (many in the U.K. are much worse) but by Canadian standards a bit below par.

Since 1990, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant has served delicious seafood and West Coast cuisine in a spectacular setting along the Sidney waterfront at picturesque Port Sidney Marina. Patrons enjoy a warm ambience, great food, and unforgettable views of the ocean, Gulf & San Juan Islands and Mount Baker.

The cozy restaurant and bar both boast warm feature fireplaces, and in warmer weather the two outdoor patios allow diners the opportunity to enjoy sunshine and sea breezes. "Staff are friendly and cheerful, and we have a great kitchen staff," "Our pub menu is first class." At the full-service bar, customers can choose from a large selection of beverages - there's local and import beer in the bottle and on tap, as well as a wide selection of wines.

Owner Bill Singer worked for 14 years in the Oak Bay Beach Hotel's venerable Snug before opening the Rumrunner in 1990. Since then, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant has become a favoured spot for locals, a regular stop for visiting boaters, and a great find for visitors to Sidney.
