Note: For those who aren't acquainted with the regional variations of Pho soup, Hanoi 36 serves the Northern Vietnamese style. It has a delicious yet simpler, clearer broth than the sweeter, bolder version of Southern Vietnam more often found in Canada.
Today both of us ordered their Crispy Mi w/ BBQ Pork - Bowl- shaped Deep fried noodles, filled with stir fry vegetables & BBQ pork, served with their amazing house-made peppercorn sauce. I also had their traditional Vietnamese hot coffee with condensed milk. Great Vietnamese food with their history of French influence.
Food, service and value for money excellent.

We went based on reviews and were sad to see liquor sales were suspended and no Covid checks. Everyone was seated at tables without masks but you ordered food at the counter and they said public health considered this cafeteria service so they did not have to check vaccine passports. They served every table when food was ready and removed dishes, If you are pro-vaccine this may not be the place for you and if your anti-vax then maybe this is the place for you. Food was good, we had noodles, sizzling orders and it was hot and tasty. My first experience with Thai food so I have nothing to compare it to but it was very tasty and I enjoyed the food.

We were walking downtown trying to find a place to eat when we came across Hanoi36. We were greeted as soon as we entered, we were able to pick a table. Madison was very attentive, brought menus did our drink order then our food order. We had the beef bun it was very fresh, several vegetables and 3 different fresh herbs we had which was so nice to make it taste even fresher. We were very impressed because Vietnamese is one of our favourite foods, I would recommend this restaurant. We don't live in Salmon Arm but would make the drive to come here again.

Disappointing :(
My husband and I ordered takeout here when they first opened and everything was very bland. We decided to try it once again and this time we were even more disappointed. The noodles they use aren’t the type most Vietnamese places use and the spring rolls had no flavour whatsoever. The waitress seemed like she knew nothing about what was in some of the dishes we ordered. The peanut sauce for the salad rolls was watery. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and it tasted almost burnt. Seriously almost everything we ordered wasn’t good. Vietnamese food is my favourite food and I hope the owners read this and try to step up their game in the restaurant industry.

We had a celebration with 19 friends. Consulted with the owner ahead of time and had a set menu. We arrived at 6.00 and left at 9.00, 3 hours of delicious eating the seven dishes that were served. All the dishes were full of flavour and the staff was friendly and happy to look after all our small requests.

Terrible service. Waited a long time for water. Waited a very long time for bill. They added 18% tip automatic. I asked the waitress a question when she handed me water and she snapped at me. She told me to wait til she was done handing out water. We asked for bill 3 times. Dirty plates sat on our table 20 minutes.
Soup tasted good.

Its rare to find NORTHERN Vietnamese fare...so this is a true gem!
Initially ordered takeout and I decided to try the VEGGIE PHO.
Wow! It was the most flavourable, delicious Pho I've ever had...so went back the next night to sample more of the menu.
Glad I did. Salad rolls...super fresh! Chicken thighs..succulent!
Baked and then finished off on the grill.
All dishes made to order and heres the best part:
Hanoi 36 sources all its vegetables/meats locally in addition to their wines, bread & coffee beans. So great support of the Shuswap economy.
Enjoyed chatting with the friendly owners Jenny and Mike.
I will be back!
Note: No kids menu but sharing options make it affordable

Service was slow and forgetful. The Pho was the worst Pho I have ever had. That is saying a lot because I have eaten Pho all over B.C. The best Pho is at Pho Galaxy in Chilliwack BC. Serious. Their Pho doesn't even compare to the mediocre Pho we ate last night. There were scant ingredients... Small amount of rare beef, thick noodles, and a few herbs tossed into a salty, broth that had no depth. I'm used to getting a huge steaming bowl accompanied with a plate of bean sprouts and other herbs to add in. This was disappointing and expensive. We like to support local during these trying time but are not interested in mediocre, expensive food. We will NOT be returning to this restaurant as there are many other great places to eat. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The food was very good, served well presented and hot, very much enjoyed it. Was a bit put off that the hot peppers and other things were all extras to be added to the soups. I found the space cold both in appearance and space as every time someone opened the door a huge gust of cold air blew right through. These things aside, the prices are fair and the food well worth trying.

The food was very fresh, light and well prepared. It was takeout but if the highest quality. This is a go to for my family as we all appreciate well prepared food. When we could go in person the service was good and we enjoyed the banter.

This restaurant opened just a year ago in downtown Salmon Arm. Mike, trained in the French, German and Italian culinary cooking styles, along with his wife Jenni returned to their Vietnamese roots and moved from Burnaby to follow their passion. We have visited many Vietnamese restaurants in our life and this is one of the best. I had Mike's signature dish Mama Yen's Beef Pho, a tribute to his mom's recipe. It was delicious with just enough ingredients. My wife had Papa Peter's Chicken Pho, also very delicious. We will definitely coming back the next time we are in town.

Grabbed a couple of salad rolls and pho for supper. The salad rolls were okay--the rice paper was busted open because they were overfull & I wasn't a huge fan of the mint in the roll. However, it was tasty and fine. The pho was delicious. The winner, though, and the main reason we will come back is the jasmine cheesecake with haskap berry. Holy Hannah, it was phenomenal (who would have thought?!? Not me!).

Ordered take out. Chicken and pork. The food was cold when it arrived, the noodles were not vermicelli like we ordered and there were no sides included like soya, hot sauce fish sauce ect. Overly quite bland. The meat was really good (lemon chicken and pork) but I wouldnt order here again.

Had a pho craving and this certainly hit the spot! The stirfrys looked great too. Will definately be back. The only thing I thought was strange was you pay an extra 50 cents for bean sprouts for your soup, always thought that was just a given addition for pho, but it's only 50 cents so not upset.
