The simplicity of the menu is wonderful. Pick your fish, how you want it cooked, pick your sides, pick your sauce. Reasonably priced and freshly made. Conveniently located on main strip in Port Alberni so a good stop if passing through during meal time. a few small disappointments: The coleslaw lacks flavour, the fries are underwhelming and somewhat dry. That... More

Good fish and chips, but coleslaw on the bland side. Friendly and quick staff working in a small kitchen and a med sized dining room, very good to go fish does not get soggy right away.

We had a platter for two and 3 of us couldn't finish it. The grilled sockeye still makes my mouth water! The rest was still really good like panco shrimp and english style battered halibut! I just looked at the menu and realized we missed trying the key lime pie. Noooooo! Guess I am going back the next time I'm... More

We drove over to Port Alberni today and had a late lunch at BARE BONES. Simple menu. COD, Halibut, Salmon. You can get the fished cooked 3 ways. We chose traditional batter deep fried with fries and salads. The Halibut was perfect and the batter was outstanding. Almost like tempura batter. Excellent food, good service and very friendly staff. We... More

We stopped here on our way back from Tofino to Nanaimo. It was rated #1 restaurant for Port Alberni but we were disappointed. The salmon was fresh but the cod fish and chips was more batter than fish. Probably should have gone for the halibut!

My meal was delicious, my partners meal - halibut was not hot enough and had to be redone. Great service

Had some excellent battered cod here this evening. Friendly service, food came quickly, good value, locally caught fish. The only thing that would have improved it would be thicker chips - perhaps a different potato. Glad we stopped by, we'd definitely eat here again.
