Great small restaurant to stop by for breakfast for our trip to the island! Our server Patti was very warm and welcoming as well as wearing a face shield to ensure safety in the restaurant. She followed up several times to check on us for our tea and coffee.
The price of food was very reasonable (or maybe I’m just used to Vancouver pricing) about $30 for two breakfasts and two hot drinks.
Would definitely recommend!

Right from the moment we walked in; decor so alive and inviting with Australian memorabilia. The presentation, everything preset, server thorough in details of the specials and menu. Extensive drink and food menus. Bottomless ice tea for the boys. Then the food; OMG! All day breakfast; the Eggs benedict, but also The Skillet, lets not even begin to talk about the pancakes. First thing that came to mind when I saw this amazing plate of pancakes with beautiful whipped cream and fruit; "The Flay List" with Bobbie Flay and his daughter Sophie. I honestly thought the bill was wrong; barely $105 for 5 people and I had a Mamosa. So wonderful and so reasonable.

Several years ago when Boomerang's first open we went in there for breakfast on our way on a trip out of towm. We were very much unimpressed. After waiting an hour for our meals (no exageration) we told the waitres we had to go and just payed for our coffees. I did not return for quite awhile, but then one day I thought about it and decided to try again. I sure was glad I did. By this time I guess they had everything sorted out and the food and service was nothing short of spectacular. Since then we have eaten there many times and it has become our favorite restaurant in Port. One thing I want to mention is that my wife has a serious food allergy and we only had to tell the staff once and somehow they never forgot. We are moving away to anther town and we both agree if we could find a way to put this place in our back pocket we would take it with us.

Stopped here on our way to the ferry and was extremely happy with the service, food and atmosphere. Our coffee cups remained full, the portions were large for for value and everything tasted great. Will drop by again when back in the area.

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Boomerang’s Cafe the other day on our way to Tofino. It was our first visit to Port Alberni and we stumbled across this great place. Our eggs benny were both delicious and the service was so friendly and you could tell that the owners (one of whom served us) really care about providing good customer service. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a friendly place to eat.

Passing through Port Alberni, we decided to stop for a quick casual bite stumbling upon Boomerangs Cafe: it was simply both impressive and first-rate admirable.
The service was simply outstanding, conscientious and caring accompanied by a truly eclectic and interesting all day dining menu. There were so many items worthy of trying that we really must go back for a return engagement especially after sampling both the Kangaroo and Aussie Lamb Burgers.

Nipped into Boomerangs last week, had never been before; nor had we been to Port Alberni before. Good Covid protocols, masks required except when seated/eating. Split a salad, and a delicious clubhouse. Wish I'd gotten the waitress's name, she was absolutely terrific. Made suggestions from the menu, and answered our questions about local attractions too - she really made a quick lunch feel special. Try them out!

We had such a lovely lunch at Boomerangs today. With great nieces up from Victoria and brother from Whiskey Creek it was fun to share such an inviting place with them all. We were a table of eight and the speed of them putting together and setting up our table along with thoughtful service was a real treat. The care they took in accommodating a serious food allergy and checking in to see we had everything we needed was really appreciated. My new ‘go to’ restaurant!

Stopped in for lunch on the way to Tofino early November. Food was really good with generous portions but disappointed to see the establishment doing whatever it could to skirt Covid-19 protocols..
Changing their classification from restaurant to cafeteria so passports weren't required but the server still coming to our table repeatedly, especially noticed none of the kitchen staff wearing masks and servers / front staff only periodically or partially wearing masks. Our server even said that the kitchen staff wasn't required to wear masks.
Good food but probably wouldn't go back after seeing the apparent blatant disrespect for community safety.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad you enjoyed your meals but are sorry you were disappointed with your overall visit.
We are following all the rules as laid out for us by WorksafeBC, the local health authorities and the PHO. Yes, we had our liquor license go dormant and changed the style of our restaurant. This allowed us to be on a level playing field with the other restaurants (McDonalds, A&W, Tim Hortons, Subway etc) that are open at 6:00AM. It also allows us to treat "EVERYONE" equally. If treating ALL people with respect and dignity and if being inclusive and not segregating people is wrong, we don't want to be right.

What a great place! Friendly people, delicious food. Would've sat outside but it felt very noisy after a bad night's sleep. Superb breakfasts (omelette for 1 person, and a traditional brekkie for 2nd person) really set us up for a long day's exploring and travel. Love the decor! Thank you - we'll be back!

Food was great I had a beef philly with fries and gravy. Sandwich was the best, gravy for fries was good to many times gravy is watery and tasteless.
Wife had corn beef hash, corn beef was sliced from a corned beef not from canned. Eggs and potatoes cooked to perfection. Great meal
But none of the staff had masks on!!

Took our family here for a visit, and had dinner. Meals were ok. Nothing special. Hard to find anything suitable on the menu for anyone with a bovine allergy (milk and/or beef) except chicken "chook" which was dry. Came back for breakast and got runny eggs, instead of overeasy. Will not return.

My wife and I tried out Boomerangs on a whim. We were in Port Alberni for a day trip. The menu is very eclectic and Australian themed. I tried the Kangaroo burger and was very happy with it! Kangaroo meat is very lean but also a good flavour. Service was very fast and very attentive! We will be back.

Nice restaurant that serves big portions of food. Took the daily special, stuffed pork chop with mashed potatoes and the jambalaya. Both tasty and more than enough for one person. Good service, parking in front, outside dining possible.

So my wife and I are on a ten day motorcycle trip around Vancouver island and we suddenly pulled in here for breakfast. We had the booth across from the kitchen and couldn't help but notice how happy all the staff looked and worked together. It was busy but the coffee on the table right away and the refills on time. The omletes were fantastic and the real potato hash browns were awesome! And it all arrived piping hot and the server was so nice! We stopped at alot of places but were impressed with the food here and the happy atmosphere.
