Delightful dining experience. Chef and manager both very personable. Mussels were well prepared and presented in a unique way. The fresh trout was delicious, moist and nicely seasoned. Our favorite Selkirk Loop dinner.

This special place is comfortable and cozy, with attentive staff and a great view of the lake. The food is remarkably good. We enjoyed three dishes this evening. The charcuterie board was excellent, with at least three types of cheese, salami, and ham accompanied by pickled grapes, tapenade, cherry chutney, olives, nuts, and some dried fruit. It was a meal in itself and delicious! Next up was the raviolo which had a rich, flavorful sauce (including egg yolk) that makes you close your eyes and go "oooohhhhh...that's good!" And finally, the mixed vegetable butter curry with basmati rice and pita bread. This was exactly what you expect from an authentic curry...prepared to perfection. we wish we lived closer to Nelson so we could visit this fine restaurant more often.

We sat on the patio. The heaters were on and blankets provided (making it a comfortable place to be on an evening in mid October) The service from start to finish was excellent - thanks Paulo). We shared four appetizers and a dessert. The appetizers were all large enough to share and we didn't leave hungry.

I ordered a Duck/Coconut soup entrée and an Agli Olio main pasta dish. First faux pas and much to my surprise, I was served both dishes at the same time. The waitress was even surprised that the cook behaved in this manner. I returned the pasta meal even though the waitress offered to put the dish under a heat lamp as well as packaging it for me to take home without charge. First and foremost, I go to a classy restaurant expecting the food to be served fresh and hot. Secondly, I go to a classy restaurant for the culinary experience not a free meal.
Seconds faux pas the Duck/Coconut soup was watered down – again disappointing.
Let’s go onto desert. My friends ordered a Tiramisu Biscuit – to me it was a unique and interesting desert with tiramisu sauce over a biscuit. The tiramisu I am most familiar with is a layered cake. The problem was not the presentation, the problem was the bottom of the biscuit was burnt. You may not be surprised, but it was returned. Someone (I assume the cook), in their infinite wisdom, decided to remedy the situation by scrapping off the bottom of the biscuit and pouring on more sauce to mask the burnt taste.
On the positive side the waitress was pleasant.
I'm not sure I would classify this restaurant as one of the best in Nelson

The charcuterie was all we ordered and it was not good at all. It did not come with items described on menu. The garlic aioli was so bad the server took it back after she tasted it and said it shouldn't have been served. That left one spread as the garlic was not replaced or offered. The board had a pile of shredded carrots, a large pile of craisins (literal craisins) and a pile of slivered almonds. The grapes and olives were in the same pile so couldn't tell what was what. The meat was not great and some still had the casing which had to be removed. Cheese was so-so but some seemed like it had been sitting out for some time. It was the worst I've had and I've had many. Would not recommend if the charcuterie was a reflection of their menu items. In all fairness we should have complained and asked for a discount.

Have to say we were not imressed we ordered charcuterie board it had sandwich meat and grated carrotts on it. The profciutto was off color and smelled bad. The board was a mess of food that probably should have been tossed. There were a lot if items on the menu that they didn't have in stock. The bread was so hard we couldn't bite it. Sorry to say we had to send it back and eat elsewhere. Waitress and wine were great.

After being warned by hostess/waitress that they were very busy (4 tables) we would probably get bad service we decided to stay.
We didn’t hesitate and immediately ordered drinks and dinner. After over an hour not once did the hostess/waitress check to see if we needed another drink or let us know how our order was coming along.
So we watched for over an hour the 4 tables eat, order dessert and pay and a couple who arrived after us get their meal did the waitress/hostess come to us.
She (from Quebec) told us that she forgot to put our order in at all. So after waiting over an hour our order still hadn’t been place.
Sage Restaurant this waitress/hostess is not doing you any favours except warning customers that they will be getting bad service before you even sit down. First time ever that we never left a tip.

Very disappointing. Not a good start with a small tuna appetizer in soggy wonton cup. Dry boneless beef short rib to follow, had to ask for gravy to make it edible. Hoped that sticky toffee pudding would rescue the meal. No such luck. Dry with no toffee in sight. Will not return which saddens us as we Nelson has been a getaway, a five hour drive away, for many years with Sage providing a dependable evening out.

A valentines dinner with a set menu to choose from. Although we had early (6pm) reservations they were already out of one of the three options. Settled for the steak and it was tough. I should have stayed home and cooked.

Found this gem in Nelson BC, and had 3 sharing plates. Sheila waited on us & made excellent suggestions. Very knowledgeable and paired wine beautifully for us. Had tuna tower, sweet chili szechuan wraps, salmon roulade, and unbelievably good sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend. Great value for elevated food!

I can highly recommend this restaurant. The food was amazing, I had the Filet Mignon and my wife had the ravioli. Wine selection was good and the sticky toffee pudding to share was a great finish. Support this eatery, it’s a good one.

I was there on a Friday afternoon and could not understand why the place was not packed. There is a lovely patio with a great view. They serve BC wines exclusively and will pour a flight if you like. I didn't eat but the food offerings looked interesting. Definitely worth visiting.

Absolutely delicious tapas meal. We had the prawns on baguette, the glory bowl and the avocado regular salad. Each dish was absolutely delicious. There are so many AMAZING restaurants in Nelson but right now this ranks as #1 for us.

Nelson is full of fun and delicious casual dining. I wanted something just a little more upmarket for my birthday and this was the place. We sat outside on the heated and covered patio which made for a beautiful setting. There was a great menu to choose from. I had the cod and my husband the lamb. The wine selection was vast and it was easy to find something to pair with dinner. We would definitely go back to this restaurant

At the end of a long covered walkway running from the street emerges this hidden gem in Nelson. Simply outstanding. Great food and a good offering of BC wines. Highly recommended.
