Bean Here exclusively serves Capulin coffee. The beans are hand picked and sorted and do not touch water until coffee is brewed. The result is a very smooth coffee with low acidity. It literally feels better because you don’t deal with the acids and tannins which result from the washing process. Also because the farmers do much of the picking and sorting more of the funds paid fir the beans go to them - allowing them to stay in their community while earning a living income. So it feels good to know you are supporting an ethical fair trade practice. A big bonus is that Mitch is a highly skilled Barista and a lovely, open and informative human who is happy to discuss beans and / or life.

We first had coffee here while visiting Nelson two years ago, so happy to see that other than the location, nothing has changed since then! The best Mocha I have ever had! Will definitely visit again before we leave Nelson.

I was doing a walkabout in Nelson and I dropped by to see what he has to offer. So, I ordered a Mayan hot chocolate. The taste of the Mayan hot chocolate made me feel nice and happy. I will be back with family or friends!

Mitch is personable and interesting. The best coffee in Nelson whether a hot coffee or an ice coffee on those hot summer days. Service is fast considering most of the time it is Mitch there alone.

Don't be thrown off by the humble coffee-truck appearance - this is the real deal. I have been going to Oso Negro in Nelson for as long as it has existed, but I recently discovered something even better - the Capulin coffee they serve at Bean Here Now. You'll taste that it doesn't have the bitterness of other coffee, and I especially love the smooth high that isn't followed by a crash.
The operator Mitch told me the story about the coffee.
The difference is that the beans never touch water until they hit the espresso machine (other beans are processed with water - bad beans float to the top - but that can form tannins in the beans which Mitch says people often react to and think it's the caffeine that is giving them bad side effects). I used to drink coffee rarely because it gave me jitters and I didn't like the acidic feeling in my body afterwards - but now I am addicted to Capulin coffee because it is a wonderful experience.
The other thing to note is that the beans are from a family farm in Mexico, and Bean Here Now pays 4x fair trade rates to ensure the family is paid fairly for their amazing product.
I recommend the MochAmericano - the coffee beans have been coated with vanilla, cacao and coconut oil. Also, the iced drinks are excellent and an iced Americano is the same price as a hot one (which is how it should be!)
