Well to put it in simple terms, TERRIBLE. We had the chow mein which was one of the worst we've had, also had the rueben with soup. The soup shared a plate with the rube so the spillage was soaked up by the sandwich, the...main event in the sandwich was the sauerkraut and mustard with hints of corned beer and cheese that didn't come close to swiss. Other than that the service was pretty bad but I have to accept that most places are hurting for employees.More

We had a meal in the pub of the Coldwater Hotel. The food was tasty, portions were generous and the bill was modest. Service was friendly and efficient. The Coldwater was built in 1908 and while the interior has been brought up to current standards,...it is still possible to enjoy features like the original tin ceiling.More

The Coldwater Hotel is a great place. The food there was the best I have tasted in a long time. Great value for money and prices were cheaper than other places. The portions were huge! The atmosphere was wonderful and the waitress was really friendly.

We weren't sure what to expect as the rundown building in the old downtown didn't look promising. However the food was all fresh and tasty and served pleasantly. There were lots of other diners which is a good sign.

The Coldwater Hotel is a relaxing place for lunch while traveling on a long weekend. The food is always good with huge portions. It is in need of renovations desperately. Our friendly server told us it had been sold with the new owners start November...1st. She said they will be renovating. We will be back in a few months to check it out.More

This historic hotel has charm and we decided to give the restaurant a try. The waitress was really friendly (though she got our order wrong) and the food was fine. However the whole place needs a good clean and some renovation. The toilets were horrific,...the ketchup bottle brought to our table was dirty. A real shame as this place could be a gem with some tlc.More

We were travelling around with our niece and stopped for a bite to eat, had to have the menu explained to me (I am from England) when I asked what a "Beef Dip" was, it sounded good so we ordered 1 each. What we got...was so big but absolutely delicious, the jus and gravy was lovely but the sandwich was so big we had to remove some of the beef to get it in the dip, this was a fantastic find and it was like walking back in time.More

My husband and I always stop at the Coldwater Hotel's restaurant while driving through or staying in Merritt. The hotel was built in 1908, and the restaurant reflects the age of the building in its quaint, funky appearance. The service is always small-town friendly, the...quality of the food is always surprisingly superb, and portions are very generous. Two thumbs up for this establishment. We will keep returning!More

Had lunch there on our way out from Rockin River. Sat down at 12:30 server took our order had explained kitchen was backed up. I am in the food industry and understand if a place is busy but it didn’t seem all that busy when...we arrived. All good so we waited and waited and waited. The table next to us which ordered right before us finished their meal, paid and left we still did not receive our food. It took 1 and a half hours to get a burger with salad and a Philly cheesesteak with salad. Then not a single discount was offered to us for the length of time we waited just a thanks for being so patient but we didn’t have a choice. Do not think we will ever go backMore

An early bird special .... bacon,, 2 eggs and a mountain of hash browns for 4.99 and it was very good. This is in a historic hotel building that could use a little exterior TLC but it is still a wonderful building.

We are currently traveling through the West of Canada. On our last trip back to Vancouver we stopped in Merritt to have a Breakfast. We found the coldwater cafe located in a historic building and decided to try it out. OK, the building and the...furnitures have seen better days and look a bit shabby. Also the environment is not very nice. However the food was good and the breakfast was huge. We could not eat it completely. It was tasty and not expensive.More
