A beautiful location, excellent service, but food was so-so. Curry was so mild, I don't think it was curry. Shrimp/tuna sandwich lacked anything to make it special. While I might return to the location for coffee and dessert (Chocolate mousse was delish) I do not think I would bother with lunch again.

Dear eak027, I am sorry to hear we did not empress you with our chef's creations. I hope you will take the time to try again in the future. I agree the sea escape is a delicious dessert. Take care, Sincerely, Dana Marshall Dining Room Manager More

My husband and I went to The Breakwater as part of my birthday celebration (we were staying at the resort). The setting is beautiful and all tables have a water view. The server arrived promptly and we were taking our time so there was no fault there. The prices are fairly high ($29-$35 or so per entrée). We started with... More

Salmon and seafood chowder were amazing! Service was top notch too. Too bad our stay at the hotel wasn't so great.

We were fortunate because this wonderful venue was on site at our hotel, but if you are staying in Courtenay or Comox take the time to make a reservation and drive a few kilometres to eat here. The view is ever changing and dusk is when the boats are all scurrying back to harbour. The food is perfectly prepared and... More

Dear E56789, Thank you for taking the time to review the Breakwater Dining Room. It sounds like you had a nice show on the water while you were here. There is always something to watch on our waters between seal lion shows and fishing boats, sometimes if we are lucky Orca whales too. I appreciate your feedback on our menu.... More

I love going to this place for the hydropath and lunch package with my girlfriends. I've been 4x and the last time has been excellent. It was different since we came at 9 and was able to make it to the breakfast menu which was offered before 1130. It was awesome! As usual, great ambience and relaxing moment shared :)

The best was the scallops appetizer! We had the seafood pasta dish and the clam chowder. Honestly was kind of disappointed by the clam chowder, but you can't go wrong with the scallops, so fresh and delicious. Grilled to perfection and perfect flavoring. The ambiance is amazing and right by the water, service is excellent!

I have eaten at The Breakwater many times while on Vancouver Island and the food was always enjoyable, yet sometimes lacking a certain je ne sais quoi. New Chef "Ralf Spodzieja" with Sous Chef "Brian Jamieson" have given the menu a breath of fresh air and the plates coming out of the kitchen were not only a feast to the... More

We have been visiting the Breakwater restaurant for many years as our parents live close by and we come to visit from the mainland. Over the years we have seen changes to menus and chefs, some mentionable, some forgettable. However, this time around we were so impressed with the menu, the preparations , the freshness, the taste and presentation of... More

An absolute favourite restaurant! Ask for a window seat if indoors and anywhere outdoors is amazing. We enjoyed a large family breakfast and each tried something different. The blueberry pancakes were great with whipped butter and syrup. The crab eggs Benedict is very good, but the cakes a little too crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. The... More
