I am a long time customer, dating way back to when paper mâché cows hung for sale from the ceiling. I am constantly impressed by the the Cactus Club's ability to change and adapt to the times and their customers, without loosing their vibe. There...are so many good things to say, beginning with how they have handled the pandemic. It was the first restaurant we went back to once the doors in Burnaby were allowed open. We have been back about once a month as our date night ever since. We are greeted with a smile, even though its behind a uniformed mask, we can still feel the upbeat flow of the steps guiding us us to our seats. By adding (plexi) glass dividers between tables, spacious seating, sanitization stations throughout the restaurant, and contactless menus, they make us feel safe, welcome, and able to experience the dining out atmosphere of like-minded strangers, yet we feel happily bubbled in our two-person party. Their happy hour menu offers excellent price value options. Admittedly T. and I go for steak frites during the 2-5 pm time. At $21.75 there isn't a better deal for the taste. The steak is always perfectly cooked to order, the shoestring fries hot, the horseradish mayo is delicious (I order extra for dipping the fries) and the kale salad is a tasty fresh bonus to make you not feel guilty for eating all the fries. T. also orders the spicy ahi tuna roll - it is a favourite menu item of his, and a happy hour offering. I order a modification from the menu, asking for the butternut squash ravioli as a vegetarian dish (allergenic to prawns) and appetizer size (need room for the steak). They also have quick in-out parking spots for those picking up take-away. No restaurant is without fault and there was a mix-up one day with our order for pick up, but they over-compensated by not charging us for the whole meal. We never leave disappointed. It's been a wonderful reliable escape during the pandemic.More

I decided to order online and pick up due to covid. I ordered the tofu lettuce wraps and the jambalaya. When I got home, I was pretty shocked that I had paid over 40$ for the small portions of food. The lettuce wraps came with...maybe a dozen small cubes of tofu. The jambalaya was basically white rice with stuff on top of it. That's not my idea of what a jambalaya should be. Taste wise, I would say the food was pretty bland. I'm glad that we had gift cards to pay for this food. I will not be going back. The upside to the experience is that the hostess was very polite and friendly.More

We came here for the first time a couple weeks ago with friends. They are very good with Covid regulations with people waiting outside 6 ft apart to get into the restaurant. Make sure to make reservations to save some time, like we did. Once...we were seated (tables 6 ft apart), Anvir was our server and she was very good. Friendly and fast with good knowledge of the food. My husband is a paramedic, so he phoned ahead of time and found out that the restaurant will give a discount to health care workers, which was great. My only complaint with the menu is that due to my diet restrictions, they don't have a lot I can eat. I usually only have the Cajun Chicken Sandwich on a gluten free bun or the Rain coast Green Salad, at other Cactus Clubs. But I decided to be adventurous and ordered the Jambalaya Rice Bowl. It was almost too spicy for me, but I managed and enjoyed it so much that I would order it again. I wasn't sure if I could handle the sausage in it, so I gave the sausage to my husband. I also ordered a glass of Sangria and it was very good. My husband ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl and enjoyed it as well. The restaurant can be quite noisy, so if you prefer, ask to be seated in the heated patio. It isn't as noisy. We would definitely come here again. Over all, we were quite happy.More

A friend and I love going to Cactus Club for happy hour and supper. After months of being careful we were ready to get out and picked Cactus Club! Reserved online with contact tracing info. Great meal and service. Plexiglass between booths. Was an enjoyable...much needed escape. Bellini and Hunter’s chicken for me-both very tasty! So full I took the key lime to go-it’s fantastic!More

I cannot get over the prices per plate. It’s around 20-22.00 a plate. This is a biggie off for me. Back when they first started, their prices were wayyy more affordable. This is just ridiculous!

Don't miss the happy hours opportunity as you can have great foods in reasonable price. They have a fair range of foods, drinks and desserts during this priode of time and they are open until midnight

We had dinner here in early December with a group of good friends who get together typically once or twice a year. We had made our reservation at least a month in advance. We were there having dinner, enjoying a few drinks and having a...really great time. At 10 minutes to 9 o'clock, the manager approached us and told us that we needed to leave in ten minutes as he had made reservation for our table for 9 PM. What ??? Anyway, he kicked us out but he did give us all a drink certificate as he said he felt guilty for doing this. Okay, here are some of my thoughts with this scenario: 1. I don't want to drive 1 hour across 2 cities to have a free drink. 2. What I really wanted was to continue to hang out with my buddies who I don't see very often. 3. I would think, that as a manager, if you are going to double book the table in that fashion, then it would be highly reasonable to let the original booking party (us) in advance so that we can make alternate plans. This was the most unprofessional scenario that I have ever run across in a restaurant.More
