Drumheller is a small town, far from any ocean, so when the grandkids wanted to go here for sushi I was hesitant. However, we decided to give it a try, and the food was excellent. I ordered one of the Bento box meals, and could...not finish it - it was almost enough for two. The mixed tempura was hot and crunchy, the tuna sashimi fresh and buttery - it was truly delicious, and very reasonably priced. We are visiting from B.C., but if we ever come back I would definitely eat here again.More
My wife and I ate here 2x while we stayed in Drumheller for the weekend; been to Drumheller plenty of times but never to The Roll.
The first night I had the Beef Bulgolgi bento box. The beef was excellent and on par with anywhere...else I've been... and I've had Beef Bulgolgi a lot of places. The rest of the Bento box had a good portion of rice, salad and tempura. Really good tempura actually.
My wife had the Dolsot Bibimbap (veggies and rice with fried egg), came came sizzling hot in the dish with some fantastic Korean hot sauce, on the side.
2 nights later we were back, partly because it was so good the first time and we wanted to go back, and because we really wanted to explore what Drumheller had for unique food but not a lot of other places were open this time of year that interested us. We both got Sushi Bento boxes and I won't bore you with the details but it was excellent food again.
The decor is very nice and inviting. The only complaint would be the "top 40" radio station that was playing instead of something more atmospheric for the style of restaurant.
The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and the service was timely.
I totally recommend checking this place out when you are in Drumheller. Also to celebrate 3 years operating they are offering 20% off until the end of March 2019.
They do take out as well. Can't comment on that myself but there was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up orders while we sat inside.More
I LOVE sushi, when I lived in Calgary I used to eat at Kinjo all the time. I love this gem just as much. When I go with people who maybe are scared to try sushi there is always something else for them to try...that is less adventurous. (Chicken Yakisoba is a great option for some of these people.)More
Our Bi Bim Bap was very tasty but the sushi and Katsu missed the mark. I believe the place was run by Korean so it made sense that Korean food was better than Japanese. There was only one server and she wasn't friendly at all.
