Stopped for lunch while touring the badlands, good food with friendly service. Interesting decor all around the place to view, if possible go sit in the patio area.
Came for supper around 3 pm not knowing closing time was 4 pm that day. Check opening times before you go. I had chicken strips and fries. Home made fries very very good. Chicken was as tasty as any I have ever had. Service perfect....A number of different servers checked on me and made sure I got what I needed. Bill was prompt and accurate in spite of ordering twice with different servers. Highly recommended and a great drive too.More
The cheap easy drive to Wayne is worth it. The bridges are neat. The stores are interesting. Looked like the food was good. If we had known we would've stayed overnight in the old-timey hotel just for the experience.
Located at Wayne near Drumheller, we dropped by for dinner on a Sunday afternoon and managed a share table (our choice) in the back patio (beer garden) area. Luckily we did as the venue closed soon after (last orders about 6pm). Staff were friendly and...effective at service. There is a reasonable choice of foods on the menu and we chose the tasty and filling burgers washed down with beers from Valley Brewing (in Drumheller). Inside is an array of odd-ball memorabilia on then walls and ceilings.More
Loved this hidden gem off the beaten track. Lots of history in this great eating spot! Even has bullet holes in the wall and massive amounts of memorabilia and antiques. The service was a little slow but only because they had so many customers! Servers...were friendly and kind. Food was delicious and we loved how they have a wide range of smoked meats such as smoked brisket and applewood smoked pork shoulder. Fries were crispy and hot and drinks cold!! Yum!More
This place is unique, so much to see inside, has a patio, staff was patient, food was good. You travel over 11 bridges to get there.
Visited for lunch on a Tuesday and was very surprised how busy it was. We arrived about 11.30am and got one of the last inside tables. Great service and food was very tasty. There is a yard at the back with more tables if the...weather is good. Very interesting items inside the bar area. Definitely worth going out of the way to see.More
We were told before they opened that the special was a mushroom burger. We left ..went to the Hoodoos. Drove back to find out the special was a fish burger...not the mushroom burger that we drove all the way back for. I ordered the Basil...smoked chicken burger. It was Horrible. I am familiar with smoked food. The chicken tasted like it was smoked over a backyard fire. There is good smoked food and horrible smoked food...I tried eating half before telling the waitress. She said she was going to see what she could do. When it came time to pay...nothing was said or done about my meal. We looked at our receipt after we paid the full amount and left....noticed we had a credit card charge wich is illegal to do without letting the customer know. I notified the saloon about my whole experience...but he/she discounted my complaint. Also they use pine sol with mops to clean their tables. The tables were sticky on the patio and it smelled like pine sol out there. A turn off for eating a meal. A bad experience.More
You were told before we opened the special was a mushroom burger, which was the special the day before. The board is updated every morning at opening with our daily special. Not sure how you’d be told different, were you here in person before we...More
I didn't get a chance to have dinner the first night because they were working on a water issue and the bar had to close early, but Paula and Dave were wonderful hosts and Paula fixed me a cocktail anyway. The 'meat candy' chunks of...brisket was recommended the next night and I went for it - yummy. I stayed in the Matrimonial Suite for two nights and it was lovely. I had to use the step stool to get onto the bed because it was high - but SO comfortable. Toilet and Shower across the hall were impeccably clean. No hauntings experienced but - there were more than a few bobby pins on the carpet on the morning of my check out. I don't use them. Weird. There are so many interesting things to see in the rooms and in the bar - I highly recommend a visit if you're in the Drumheller area. I'll be back.More
Arrived mid-week with my family to check out this awesome little piece of history, and was not disappointed! Atmosphere and staff are amazing, and the food was perfect. We loved everything from the smoke platter, crispy fries and ice cold local beer! Waitresses made a...point to be super attentive and friendly to my very social 8yr old, even telling us afterwards how well mannered they were and handing out some awesome stickers. Please don't change a thing, as my family 100% is excited to make this an annual trip along with the Royal Tyrell.More
Came for the experience, but boy oh boy, the place was cool, but we watch the waitress rude to another table, didn’t give them a chance to look over the menu, when we ordered couldn’t order a plain burgers, couldn’t take a minute to look...around, waiters was the rudest I’ve ever experienced, everyone has a bad day but when you deal with the public sorry, not called for , can’t be like that,More
People order burgers all the time minus toppings, of course you can order plain burgers. If people need more time with menus they typically tell us, “we’re not ready yet”. Are you basing your review on another tables interaction or yours? We take pride in...More
I think we were here at about the worst time of the day. We got the last table in the place and there was quite a crowd. Consequently the server was actually on the run occasionally trying to keep up. Our wait was long and...our meals arrived luke warm. The place is a must see though if you are into memorabilia and the patrons that were earlier seemed to be enjoying their meals.More
Yes wait times can get long, most of the time folks join at lunch or at supper and the place goes from steady to full-on. That’s the restaurant industry when tourist season begins. It’s either a feast or famine situation. Glad you enjoyed the history...More
We only had time for a cold one but wanted to stay longer and try their menu. This place truly feels like the wild west with bullet holes in the wall to prove it! Also the adjoining Rosedeer hotel with their "ghost stories" is a...must if you like a tad of the other world. The Last Chance is a bit out of the way, but worth the drive. Try the local brew on tap. Refreshing.More
So many times visitors come to Calgary and head west to the mountains. I agree, it is spectacular and worth the time. But I think heading East to Drumheller is equally engaging and beautiful and offers glimpses to the immense Geologic history of the region....Some years ago I was steered towards the Last Chance Saloon, in Wayne, AB just outside Drumheller. You have to go on a road with 11 bridges to get there and when you get near the end of the road, you have arrived. A small interior and large outdoors sets of tables, a bar with saddles for seats and character galore, it is charming 'old west' kind of place. But it has a unique history. It was a place in the 40's when members of the LGBTQ community could express themselves safely! It always has motorcycles lined up outside. It's got a large campground that is very popular. And the food is old west home comfort...Burgers, Salads, Beer, Desserts and more. It is not fancy but it is fun and there was enough for our Vegetarian cousins to enjoy as well. This place is always my 'go to' stop when bringing family and friends East to see what else Alberta has to offer in addition to the mountains.More
