I'm not sure why there is a big time gap in reviews, so I am adding a recent one. Went there last night; fun fondue meal with meat, cheese and chocolate. As noted, it is BYOB, so bring something with you. It's a loud place...(high ceiling, limited fabric), but we went late so the noise simmered down as people left. Would definitely go again.More

Since we are living in strange times during COVID19 things are not the same. Usually very good food. Picked up a few sandwiches and some already prepared food from the fridge. The different sandwiches were good. The (2) packages of Beer Beef stew with mashed...potatoes and broccoli were not good. We noticed after trying to eat this meal that it really had a bad smell and taste. It was 7 days past the date they made it. Bad quality control and wasted our money. We weren't happy about that.More

It's my 3rd time at this restaurant and the food as usual was great. Service was a little slow but that happens sometime. What I don't understand is why is it practically dark in this restaurant. I had never eaten in a fondue restaurant and our server was really helpful with choices. We shared a cheese fondue and a chinese style one. There was plenty of food and we both left full, the flavours in the cheese fondue and the broth...were excellent. It was quite a big room, but had a nice cosy atmosphere. One thing we didn't realise is you have to bring your own alcohol, but despite that we had a great meal and would go back for sure.More

Excellent time at this very pretty restaurant in an old industrial setting. Just a few blocks away from the downtown area.( just when you think you missed it -- it's there). Food is excellent and reasonably priced. It's BYOB, so don't forget a nice bottle...of wine. Fondues are individual and include a large plate of salad and veggies ( and fries)for dipping. 6 choices of cheese and multiple choices of meat ( including some exotic choices ) fill the menu. Highly recommended.More

This was our second time at Fondissimo. At our last visit 2 years ago we were very impressed. This time around the cheese fondue was not hot and neither was the chocolate dessert. Two out of three courses were served luke warm to cool instead...of hot? The staff was nice but how fondue can be served with barely any heat makes zero sense.More

If you're visiting Magog, QC or nearby - do not miss having dinner at Fondissimo! The restaurant specializes in fondue and it is possible to have cheese fondue as an appetizer, meat fondue for the main course and chocolate fondue for dessert. While this is...possible - it would be an enormous amount of food! We had their salmon tartare as an appetizer - it was well done and beautifully presented, fresh and very good. For our main course we had two different cheese fondues. Fondissimo has several varieties of cheese fondue and since we couldn't agree on one, we had two. The fondue arrives in bowl atop a heater. Next a cutting board arrives with a bowl of bread cubes the perfect size for dipping, a small dish of pickles, a small dish of cubed apples, a small dish of chorizo sausage and a mayo-based dipping sauce. I, incorrectly, thought this was the entire meal. Then a plate FULL of fresh vegetables arrived - all for dipping in the cheese fondue! There was broccoli, cauliflower, fresh mushrooms, carrots, radish slices, and much more. I quickly switched from dipping bread to dipping veggies in the fondue. By the time I'd finished the veggies, I was very satisfied. Then we were offered dessert, most of them made in-house. I took the tiramisu but confess I was too full to really enjoy it, even though it was delicious. It is a BYOB place. We didn't know this in advance, but Fondissimo does offer a lovely non-alcoholic cider and we ordered a bottle of this which went perfectly with the fondue. Fondissimo is located in what was an old factory. It is on the way out of town and can be hard to locate, the sign is small - we drove right past, but turned around as we realized we had missed it. There is parking beside the restaurant and it is handicap accessible. I highly recommend!More

We had a cheese fondue main and chocolate fondue for dessert with espresso for fifty dollars. That seemed fair to us. The waitress gave us good advice about ordering the saison cheese fondue. We would come back.

We ate here as a family with two teenage sons. The service was very poor. There were only two servers for the whole restaurant and they were extremely overworked. We never got refills of our water, for example. The prices are very high. There is...just no way around this. We ordered two table d'hote dinners - one each for the adults. For the kids, we ordered two fondues (one each), one soup and one dessert (to share). We did not order any drinks and brought our own wine. The check came to just under $170 CAD before tip. The food, however, is excellent. And this is why we will probably return. We make fondue at home quite often, but this is definitely a step up from what we can make at home. We also really enjoy the atmosphere.More

Had an excellent, highly memorable meal. Two adults and two kids. We ordered the Table d'Hote which was perfect, probably a little too much food even (so hard to leave anything over though!). We each had a different cheese fondue - option 1 and 2...- and shared with each other and our kids. They were really delicious, and the staff were happy to bring us a little more bread to finish up. The meat fondue ('fondue chinoise') was excellent. Between the four of us we tried beef, chicken and pork. The pork was pre-seasoned in a marinade. Having kids cook raw chicken in the stock made me a little nervous, but quick instructions to ensure the middle was not pink or raw had a 7 and 10 year old cooking competently and confidently. The sauces were absolutely delicous and tasted excellent with all of the meats. The main fondue course came with a perfectly dressed mixed salad, a skewer of crudités (we cooked most of ours in our fondue pots), and some of the crispiest, most perfectly cooked and seasoned potato wedges I've ever had. Note that the kids menu is an incredible bargain as they seemed to receive as much food as the adult meals, just without the first cheese fondue course. Service was top notch. I was impressed on a couple of points. First, it seemed like the wait staff really tended to all tables rather than only theirs. This meant that plates were always cleared quickly, our fondue flame was promptly relit when it went out and then replaced when it happened a second time, bread was replenished, we were asked if we needed anything further several times, etc. Second, because we were four, I was worried they would end up bringing out four of everything and crowd our table but without being asked they consolidated portions in order to simplify things i.e. two stock pots per person, two dessert fondues. Space was a little tight while eating the meat fondue, but definitely manageable. Our only regret was that we did not bring wine. I had read that we could bring your own, but hadn't realized that was the only option and had assumed we could still opt to order with our meal. It wasn't a big deal, our meal was still memorably delicious, but a nice bottle of wine would have made it that much better. I'm not sure if it's a licensing thing (i.e. you have to choose either to sell or allow customers to bring) but if they are permitted, I think the restaurant should just have a good white and a good red on hand for people from out of province who are unfamiliar with the bring-your-own model. Was curious about negative reviews, and some seem unjustified. It's a fondue restaurant: if you are not sure what fondue is, I don't think you can blame the restaurant if the dish does not end up appealing to you. They certainly do it very well. If you are unfamiliar with fondue chinoise look up "shabu shabu" to get an idea. If you like the idea but aren't sure about cooking raw meat in seasoned stock yourself, I would recommend ordering beef only which is sliced very thin, cooks very quickly, and is very high quality. Although the pork was excellent, I would have been very happy with beef alone. Regarding tables, feeling crowded and wanting a table for 4 for 2 people, I don't think that's a fair expectation. They can't do it *just for you* and if they do it for everyone, you are basically reducing the restaurant's capacity by 1/3 to 1/2. What restaurant can afford to do that? If they did, for every couple who is annoyed they can't have a big table they would have 2 or 3 who are annoyed that they can't get a table at all or have to wait too long. To conclude, we were in the Magog area for 3 nights and dined at a different restaurant each night. Fondissimo is the only one that I would, without any question, return to and look forward to.More
