Really good food, cute spot. Went for breakfast twice. Food was very good and fresh. Cafe was very charming. Would absolutely return.

Dropped in for Brunch. Very Covid conscious. Excellent brunch. The latte was “the best”. Finished off with a tasty sweet bun.

Nice patio for drinks only

Patio looked very inviting for a drink & enjoy lunch. Ordered inside & they brought out when food ready. Our beef tips were only warmed up. Would not return.

A picture prefect place for a date!!

We visited the quaint Town of Gananoque (between Kingston and Brockville) and found this gem! Located in the heart of the Town, across from a picturesque Town Hall and park, Laverne’s exceeded our expectations!! It has a delicious menu, friendly staff, a quiet and cozy feeling, and the price was fantastic. We highly recommend you stop in!

Worst restaurant experience - ever!

This is the most pretentious restaurant I have ever had the misfortune to dine in. Six of us arrived mid-morning with the intention of having breakfast and then heading for the Casino. We were seated at a long bar-like table with quite possibly the most uncomfortable seating we all had experienced. After approx. 20 minutes we finally received menus. Reviewing the menus took us all about 5 minutes to decide what we wanted but we still waited another 15 minutes for our drink (coffee) orders to be taken. The coffee finally arrived - had to ask for extra cream because the coffee was more like expresso (which all of us abhor) and none of us finished. The orders for breakfast were finally taken and it took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. This place is over-rated, over-priced and why anyone would become a repeat customer is beyond any of us. We certainly will never return.

What a great place to eat

Busy little place, nice setting within, some old stuff on walls etc, a nice counter made of books. Went here twice for breakfast, Saturday and Monday mornings. On the Saturday had the Brisket Hash, wow that is a great tasting meal served in a skillet. The coffee, americano is very good too. I could have had the French toast too but the brisket took my taste buds. So, on Monday went back for French toast but was disappointed as menu had changed, ended up having eggs, sausage n bacon, very nice along with good coffee again.

Breakfast Hit

Friends and I visited here for breakfast last Sunday. We were seated quickly on the patio and served drinks immediately. All the meals were delicious. Everyone was excited and happy when we left. The owner came over to say hello before our meals were served which was a lovely touch. It was nice to have someone check in and say hello. Between our table we ordered: pancakes; brisket hash; eggs benny and classic bacon, eggs, hashbrowns etc. The pancakes are homemade and reminded me of my Grandma's from scratch. The eggs benny looked and smelled fabulous (I am told it tasted wonderful). The brisket has was enjoyable as always and how can you go wrong with classic breakfast? Everything was amazing - service, drinks and food. We love it here.

Picnic lunch

Bought a gift certificate that Lavernes had donated to the 2019 Writersfest. Picnic for 4. Enjoyed with cousin Cheryl and Debbie on route to Upper Canada Village. Yummy vegetarian sandwiches with roasted veggies and goat cheese. Chips and special oatmeal cookie plus soft drinks. Enjoyed by all. Thanks Ray!

Needs improvement

Dropped in for lunch in late afternoon about 2:30pm. Outside deck was full so a good sign. Took a table in the restaurant. First issues...wobbly table, floor needs sweeping due to lots of crumbs and other litter and the table tops had seen better days. We were served quickly but found that some of our selections were not available...sold out, late in the lunch period. We ordered but found it very slow considering most of the lunch crowd had passed. When the food came we all dug in as we were starved. Three out of the four of us thought the menu said we were getting fries with our meals but instead received potato chips. We didn't follow up. I hope the management takes a look at processes and general decor and cleanliness.

Disappointing experience

Can’t say much about food, didn’t have a chance to taste it. We were in the area on a tour, and really wanted to stop by this restaurant based on reviews. Stood in the waiting area for 10 min without anyone approaching us. Had to catch waiters attention in the kitchen, she said to wait until she cleans up on patio. Following another 10 min wait, I had to say something whether we are going to be seated. She said you can take a seat but I will not be able to take your order for another 10-15 min and she left. I said out of curtesy you could have at least offered a seat especially seeing my elderly mother standing for 20 min and we could have waited for your service. We decided to leave, never encountered this type of service before. Apparently I am not the only one with same complaint. Most recent reviews are exactly the same, horrible service.

Great Food - Slow Service

Food at Laverne's is and has always been excellent. What also has not changed is the slow service and sadly, the inattention of the waitresses. You wouldn't mind waiting for the food, if the gals would remember to check back at your table for a beverage refresh, or assure you that your order was coming along. I even had to go a feed the meter, as soon as my food arrived! And sadly, to top it off, I cracked a tooth on my last bite of the toast. Again, great food, but plan for the time there!

I don’t need to write much, the pictures speak for themselves. Must write 100 characters. The cook shows no care for their work, the restaurant should be embarrassed to serve eggs this way. Cooking surface too hot with burned butter eggs thrown on. And I didn’t order sunny side up. I was able to lift the egg off the plate to show the server. She offered new eggs but it took 45 minutes to get this plate. No thanks. I’ll just pay the entire price for this literal garbage. I didn’t take a bite of the eggs, I ate the toast, sausage and bacon. We will never come back.

Great coffee shop with really nice sandwiches on good bread. Nice vibes, pleasant staff, newspapers to read and lots of variations on where and how to sit and chill. We are regulars at this point whenever passing through.

Great vibes

This place gives off great vibes and the people who run the restaurant are absolutely delightful. It's a great stop if you're looking for healthy alternatives' especially for breakfast. The coffee is delicious and there is so much variety. Try a fluffy if you're not in the mood for caffeine, it's just steamed milk and a flavour shot of your choosing. Take your coffee and enjoy it in the park across the street.
