My family went for lunch on Scottish Festival day. The restraunt was busy, but the servers were fast and compatent. The chief (Mr. French) presented our meal to us. The fries were done to perfection. Once a year I eat a hotdog, it was totally cooked to perfection, so good in fact, I ordered a second. The only bad thing is this: This restraunt has been here for 92 years! This exact location. I came here as a kid, over 45 years ago. The city I live in will not grant this a historical status! The only reason I can understand is they want to use his land for something else. We need to do everything in our power to save this famous (great chocolate milk shake) restraunt.

My grandkids and I enjoy a swim at the beach then walk to Frenchs for fries, pop and ice cream. Established back in the twenties this is a place located at Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia where people would come to visit and summer. Now listed as an historic site it does what it was meant to do. The staff serve up fries, hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream and more. This is the place to stop after your swim at the beach, walk in the park, fish at the pier or taking in the music at the amphitheater. Check out events at the park. Always something going on.

Best take out food while visiting the Port of Orillia. Location; right on the water front, take food back to your boat or sit anywhere in the park and enjoys your burger, hot dog or ice cream. Ask for your fries "well done" and you eat well, with a gorgeous view and within a 3 minute walk from the beach. Highly recommended especially for boaters and day visitors

Perhaps got a reprieve from Council tearing it down which would be a huge mistake, as that is what draws me here, a bit of yesteryears amusement parks. Food is good and reasonable and still operating despite a new snack bar open at the new change room/washroom facilities at the beach. I choose to patronize the old one and I hope it is preserved for a long time or I wouldn't come otherwise.

Frenchies has been around in the same spot for over a hundred years and we are there to celebrate it every year in Orillia. Stephen Leacock had his own table there which still exists with a plaque commemorating him. Best homemade burgers, fries, shakes , hot dogs. MMM getting hungry for their food right now. Time for another visit

We arrived close to 9:00 p.m. put in our order a banquet burger and regular burger, fries and water. Wow huge banquet burger tasty treat soft hamburger role, perfectly cooked banquet burger and huge order of fries. We sat in the car as we were watching Christmas in July boat event. We met the owner Mr. French, a great son and grand son of the owner. Been in business over 90 years. Dinner was amazing, I highly recommend this place to eat. Very impressive, we will go there again.

This time I had a burger. It was OK and all. The fries still just OK not something to write home about (only to you guys) . The burger tasted fine but for me, not good enough to justify the money. I don't know how big it was but it seemed to be 4 to 5 ounces. A cheeseburger, and I think it was $5.10 on it's own. I felt it to be a bit steep when there wasn't a ton of condiments, the line up big and slow to be served, no deal if packaging fries and a drink with it. Good for those on the beach who don't want to go far away, but, that is how it goes near the water,... you have to pay a bit more and be willing to do whatever to make your family happy (if you know what I mean) How could it be no poutine!!!!

I understand the history of French's restaurant booth. Longevity in business is to be encouraged. However, the french fies are absolutely awful. The look like skinny pieces of straw and taste like frozen fries that are undercooked. I would not recommend this pit stop to anyone who is expecting a good order of fresh cut fries.

I have been visiting this place since 1954! Gordon Lightfoot and even Stephen Leacock ate here often.

French's is a great place to visit and because of the selection, location and history. It is only opened from spring until fall but I am not quite sure of the actual dates! This establishment is located directly across the street from Couchiching Beach Park which makes it very convenient. Thw variety of food is good and so are the prices. French's has been around and operating for decades. I am not sure if the building has been awarded heritage site status yet but is surely nostalgic and brings back memories of yesteryear.

The chip stand of your youth - little changed since Stephen Leacock sat there! Good traditional burgers, fries and shakes. Limited seating - outside only. A classic.
