We live in St. Andrews. There is not much choice for winter dining so we have chosen the Algonquin enough times because of this. The atmosphere is nice enough and the staff seem ready to please as best they can but there have been too many just ok meals to say anything great about what we've had. I would have... More

We were staying at the Algonquin and were running short on time, so we decided to check this place out. Good food, nothing too special here. Burger was yummy, chicken fingers were great as well. Walk-in setting was quite nice, and if you have a reservation, you can get an even fancier table.

6 of us had dinner and breakfast here. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. I think we all felt the food was ok, but not what we expected and not worth the price.

Of Marriott caliber with nice breakfast lunch and dinner. Worth a visit to see the renovated venue and check out the menu. Is improving all the time.

The service was great, food was good (not amazing but consistently good) and setting comfortably elegant. The prices seem a bit high in comparison to American hotels. My only suggestion would be to offer more late night, bar food to munch on like upscale nachos and potato skins.

We were with a ladies group and our waitress served 20 of us without a single complaint or mistake! As a group, we sampled many of the items on the menu and all the reviews were excellent.

We were a bit confused at first as one side of the restaurant is more formal that the other. We liked the casual side and ate there several times--no dress code, no reservations, lighter dining etc. The menu has good choices and the bar very good!

The food is fine and presented to impress, but the portions are small, even meager. Not good value. Stick to cocktails, which are quite good.

Though the big restaurant was full, we were able to enjoy this bar area - with great service and very tasty food, carefully prepared and presented. We shared a salad, then enjoyed chicken and salmon. Best dessert: a brownie with peanut butter ice cream. Walking the beautiful grounds was a treat to see how the other half lives ...

But try a bowl of seafood chowder. It's smooth, creamy, thick with seafood and simply delicious! Served with crispy toasted buttered triangles of home-made bread. Yummy!

Centrally-located in the main building of The Algonquin, Braxton's is a place to gather. Here, families discover old favourites, the adventurous try something new, and friends meet for drinks. With a warm, friendly, but elegant atmosphere, everyone feels relaxed, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The menu changes seasonally, but expect a commitment to fresh ingredients, an emphasis on local, and brilliant attention to detail. This is certainly not your average dining experience.
