Coming here for dinner definitely made our night (and weekend getaway). The lovey ladies in the lounge were very polite and gave impeccable service. The food tasted delicious (pizza is definitely the best on the island) and their prices were very reasonable (two appetizers, two beers, and two entrees for under $100)! Definitely coming back again soon!

Pizza was excellent, thick, tender crust with abundant toppings. We had an inexperienced waitress that make a mistake on our order, even though the restaurant was not too busy. Would recommend for takeout, but not for dine-in. A good place for pizza in the area.

We have enjoyed every meal we have had here (and in the Bistro) over several years. Despite the pandemic restrictions, the restaurant was warm and cosy. Our experienced waiter was a fount of knowledge and delighted in introducing the menu in mouth-watering detail. Such rapport between chef and server is rare. The food (both starter and main dishes) was superb and obviously prepared by a talented chef who knows and loves Italian cuisine. Residents and visitors alike are so lucky in having such a consistently fine restaurant in this lovely seaside town.

I am not someone who is difficult or used to giving negative feedback. However, in this case, it seems more than necessary to me... Although the lounge and the main restaurant have the same cuisine, it is not possible to have dishes from the other menu. We were on the lounge terrace. As soon as we arrived, the staff was very uncooperative. First of all, we realized that there were only a minority of proposals on the map. Being vegetarian, there was only one or the other pizza. After asking if it would be possible to have just one pasta dish from the other part of the restaurant, the lady told us that it was not possible. Afterwards, I asked if there was the possibility of having a vegetarian pasta dish, the answer: pasta with butter. Furthermore, out of a table of 5 people, no one appreciated their dish. Being connoisseurs of Italian cuisine, this restaurant was a real disappointment. In fact, the pizzas look like quiches or pizzas from the “Pizza Hut” chain. For Europeans, I do not recommend going there. What a desappointment…

I ordered some takeout last Friday. I would say the worst Italian Food I have had in my life. PIzza was lifeless and the crust tateless and the pasta was like eating cardboard. If you want real Italina food, get in your car and rive to Coombs - Cuckoo Trattoria and Pizzeria is excpetional and the spac3e itself is also delightful. It's a crying shame the owers don't up their game.

We had eaten here before and had found it a classy place for special occasions. We reserved for our anniversary and once we arrived were almost immediately disappointed by the lack of the former ambience. There was no tablecloths, flowers, or candles as in previous experiences. I ordered the classic spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were tasteless and the serving size suitable for children. The only redeeming quality was our server, who was excellent.

Very nice looking place, lacking the refinements of service & quality. 2 couples - 2 (lemon drop martinis - bitter) of 4 drinks poor. The mussels were forgettable - weak, thin broth. Same for the Linguini Pescatori (?). On a good note, the pizza was very good., so was the Linguini Carbonera. Tiramisu was so-so…..

It was late when we arrived at Qualicum Beach and this restaurant was the only option. I ordered prosciutto pizza, husband meat lovers, and daughter cheese pizza. The pizzas were rich in ingredients thus filling - even the small size; however, my prosciutto pizza was basically a semi Margarita. Tons of tomatoes and cheese. After my first slide, I checked it, and couldn't see any trace of prosciutto. I informed the server, they offered fried prosciutto to top the pizza on my table. I accepted but it came 10-15 minutes later and I was already full by just looking into my pizza on the plate. Other pizzas on our table were good and my family were happy with theirs; but I was very disappointed. The server also didn't know what was the "mix" part of the Prosciutto Mix on the menu. She had to go and ask and then come back. By the way they said they would not charge me extra for prosciutto they had forgotten to add into the ingredients!!!

Not a fine dining restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. The white floating ceiling contrasts sharply with dark green walls and tan tile floor. Spartan. In terms of Italian this is mid range, a three but not a four. People tend to give everything here a four so buyer beware. Instead of encourage restaurants to up their game, we hand out ‘atta boys’. The portion size was a drastic improvement over last time I was here. Not big on flavour, perhaps catering to austere British palates and senior’s avoiding salt. The pizza is delicious. This time the thermostat wasn’t cranked to the max. If someone is that cold, they need to wear thermal underwear and not torture everyone else. The COVID menu is smaller. The pizzas are good, fresh. If you do take out and stick it in your fridge they get soggy. The pasta was decent but not high on flavour. The meats were good grades and well cooked, but not over cooked. If you order Parmesan chicken, beware it is half of a smaller sized breast. Bigger appetites might want to order a second one.

I have never been to an Italian restaurant that served deep fried potatoes with carrots and broccoli. There was no seasoning or sauces to give the vegetables any flavour. The potatoes tasted like the oils they were cooked in. The eggplant in the parmigiana was undercooked and the deep fried potato halves were likewise undercooked with a bit of a crunch to them. The service was wonderful. That said, their pizza is a family favourite. Absolutely delicious. Most Italian restaurant I’ve been to serve a salad and use seasoned sides.

I ordered my usual vegetarian delight pizza to take home on Easter Sunday. My first indication that this pizza had not been freshly prepared for me (I picked it up within 20 minutes of ordering it) when I got home and opened it up, and instead of freshly cooked and lightly cooked and inviting cheese, I was presented with a pizza that I feel had probably been made earlier and then just heated up. The cheese was congealed and almost burnt and it was not even hot (again a sign that this was not freshly prepared) the usually soft and appetizing crust was over cooked and, as I say, having eaten these great pizzas for years, I know that this was probably just a heated up one as it looked and tasted horrid and was not the right texture or taste! Ate a couple of slices and gave up on it! Very disappointed but I realise that restaurants have their challenges nowadays but this is not the way to treat loyal customers who know what a freshly prepared pizza looks and tastes like! Will think twice before ordering another pizza for fear of having a repeat of this unfortunate experience! What happened?

We were in Giovanni's Lounge, which has the same cuisine as Giovanni's Restaurant. It was impossible to get a dish from the restaurant menu. Furthermore, there were no vegetarian pasta dishes in the lounge. Even after asking, this was not possible. It was impossible to get a single dish from the other menu. My girlfriend ordered a pizza. However, it was pretty inedible. For a connoisseur of Italian cuisine, the pizza was more like that of Pizza Hut, although I prefer that one. There was no spicy olive oil either. I would definitely not come back here.

In spite of Covid-19 restrictions, economic impacts and local anxieties the waiter at Giovani's Ristorante provided one of the nicest dining experiences we've had in a long time. It was our first visit and won't be our last. Having just moved to the area, we have been trying many of the local establishments. The Italian menu was not large but offered some interesting dishes which when described by our waiter had us wanting to order them all. He was friendly, welcoming, informative and efficient without interfering with our enjoyment of the wine and delicious food. Our thanks for a lovely evening.

We went to Giovanni's for our 25th anniversary last night and can't speak highly enough about the delicious food and fabulous service. We ordered a variety of items and everything was fantastic from the meatball starter to the creme brûlée dessert. WOW! Others around us seemed to be enjoying pizzas. We always suggest this place to people who stay at our vacation rental in town and will be happy to continue doing so. Also, wanted to note that they are taking Covid precautions very seriously with one-way traffic in/out, staff wearing masks, etc.. Due to distancing impacting the number of available tables I would suggest getting there early since understandably they cannot take reservations at this time. Thank-you so much to Giovanni's for making our celebration special!
