Had apples and pizza for 3 of us. Ended up taking half of it home. Great service and food. Nice atmosphere.
I ordered a Pepperoni and mushroom pizza and they put baloney, yes, I mean slices of baloney instead of pepperoni! Not good. Will never order again. Stay away, you will be disappointed.
Great service and pizza, but we arrived at 5.30pm for restaurant menu and was told by hostess only lounge menu available?
Excellent service, food & atmosphere. I need to add 63 more characters for my review to be accepted.
Not sure if it's because we had take out, but our meal was awful, portions were small, very average tasting, and calamari was right out of a box you would buy at the supermarket. Needless to say we won't be back soon. Greg, Parksville
Had a great dinner with friends ,service was exceptional and food was on par Called for reservations and was explained not fine dining just casual ,and menu was 80% back to normal . We had a great dinner and enjoyed ever moment there Thank you...Giovanni’s for not giving up 🙏🙏🙏More
Probably the worst meal we have ever had!!! Mussels where tough not fresh, broth was sooo salty could not eat. My husband had Calamari very small portion tasted like rubber bands. Although the waiter was good.
We had eaten here before and had found it a classy place for special occasions. We reserved for our anniversary and once we arrived were almost immediately disappointed by the lack of the former ambience. There was no tablecloths, flowers, or candles as in previous...experiences. I ordered the classic spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were tasteless and the serving size suitable for children. The only redeeming quality was our server, who was excellent.More
Ordered a parmigiana for take away, but got a snitzel with cheese on top. I had to laugh when I saw it. It tasted ok, but it is NOT an parmigiana. On the side they served half cooked vegetables. If you are a food lover...you should stay away. This is not passion.More
We tried this restaurant during COVID a couple of times but didn't go back because the menu was limited and their dining room wasn't open. We tried it again recently and were able to order from the main menu. Dishes were simple but tasty. Dining...room is a bit dark and could use a facelift, but our overall experience was an improvement over the previous ones, so we'll go back. The best part of the evening was our server, Paul. Personable. Fun. Caring. Professional. It made the night a delight.More
Pizza was excellent, thick, tender crust with abundant toppings. We had an inexperienced waitress that make a mistake on our order, even though the restaurant was not too busy. Would recommend for takeout, but not for dine-in. A good place for pizza in the area.
We arrived without reservations on a busy night, four adults and a small baby with stroller. We were seated in a quiet area and made to feel most welcome by our waiter. The pizzas and salad were great. The pitcher of beer cold and delicious...and the service outstanding. We will be back—next time with a toddler in need of a high chair!!More
My Wife and I are new to the Island and we have eaten at Giovanni's several times now. We absolutely love this Restaurant! The Pizza is simply THE BEST. The Pastas are excellent as well. The Linguine Pestcatore Rosso is my favourite so I highly...recommend it! Peter is the Maitre d' waiter and is extremely knowledgeable about the food and especially the Wine pairings. Between the Food, Atmosphere and great staff- this is what keeps us coming back! I had to laugh at one of the reviewers who stated Giovanni's wasn't "fine dining" because the ceiling contrasts with the colours of the walls and floors!. Hilarious! My Wife and I are well travelled and have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the world from Hong Kong to New York and all across Europe. We have eaten in Italian Restaurants in Rome and up and down the Amalfi Coast. Some of those places are hundreds of years old ; walls with broken plaster and worn paint, as well as old furniture. When you walked in you would have thought a war just ended. But the food, and atmosphere was incredible and what made these Restaurants unique, and are truly fine dining experiences! Go enjoy a nice meal and let Peter take care of you; don't get hung up on wall colours not matching ceilings etc; that is just silly. A big shout to Tracy who is the Manager and always looks after our reservations and is ALWAYS Cheerful, polite and accommodating! Cheers everyone! R&CMore
We got a flyer for this restaurant at our hotel and decided to order a pizza. On the flyer it said free delivery. When we called they said no delivery. When I asked if they would have delivery later in the day, I was ignored....We picked up our pizza and got charged a lot more than on the flyer. The pizza was ok, but I also had the same feeling that it wasn't fresh. The restaurant should collect all their old flyers from hotels, nobody wants to get charged more that expected.More
