Lovely evening meals and buffet breakfast

We have been staying at Sinbad's while waiting for our household effects to arrive, so its been almost 2 weeks. The dining room has great service, the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We had some really nice evening meals- salmon with partridgeberry sauce, steak, mussels, lots of really good local fare , very elegantly prepared and presented. The buffet breakfast that is included with your stay is good. Hot and cold buffet: bologna, bacon and sausage, sauteed mushrooms and tomatoes, pancakes/waffles/french toast, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, toast, muffins, cereal, fruit and yogurt. Decent coffee, juices or tea are always offered as well. A couple of times a week the chef does special egg cups with things like sundried tomatoes/spinach, cheese/chives, these have been a highlight during our stay . Really nice for a change to the usual offerings when you have been staying as long as we have. Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant!

Average food. Very good service

In the restaurants defense we were r super hungry when we sat down to eat. They did a great job of departing bus tour from regular reservations which we really appreciated. Service was very good and quite attentive but food was only average. Probably wouldn’t recommend to others visiting the area.

Lovely restaurant

This is a lovely dining room complete with fireplace located in the Sinbad’s Hotel and Suites in Gander Newfoundland ,Labrador. Sharlene, our server, was a joy! She was so cheerful and helpful to guide our selections. I had a lovely filet mignon wrapped with bacon and was cooed exactly as ordered. Hubby decided to get the Java crusted bison but said the spicy sauce, which he didn’t mind, was too overbearing for the bison and actually had to cut away fat. That didn’t stop us from ordering desserts that were light and delicious! I still would have ordered the same filet but hubby probably would have made a different choice; nevertheless, we enjoyed Sharlene and had a lovely dinner! Good place to die!

Tasty food but poor service.

Planned a meal with friends who live out of province. Our reservation was at 6:00pm, our food arrived two hours later. Our server never checked in with us and we had to ask another server what happened to her and our meals. In the mean time two other tables, who came in after us, were served. When we did get our food, they were tasty, however we never got any satisfactory reason why we had to wait two hours.

Poor restaurant and hotel but great bar staff

Remarkably slow service and disorganised. Queuing for 20 mins, waiting for 30 minutes for a cup of coffee in the morning. Unwilling to cater to my dietary requirements. Hotel noisy at night due to thin walls, creaky floors. Bar staff = brilliant! Give them a raise!

Birthday Dinner

We were staying at the Sinbad Hotel while on holidays and over my husband’s birthday. We both enjoyed an excellent steak His a large strip loin (large but not very thick) and mine a lovely filet mignon (but sauce was over powering). I called for reservation and arranged to have a birthday candle in his chosen dessert. Our waitress executed the surprise! And provided great service.

We were very disappointed with the food at the Mystic Dining Room. The Moose burger was dry and lacked any flavour. Service was slow as well considering the restaurant was not busy at all

Miserable Food – Not recommended - Not at all what we expected from a quality restaurant!

Here is a report about our experience on Thursday, the 18th of July, 2024. Our party of 4 adults (2 senior couples) arrived before 7 pm to have a steak dinner. The Mystique dining room looked good on our cell phone and we were looking forward to a delicious and enjoyable meal... They claim on their website: “The Mystic Dining Room offers casual dining at its finest, with an excellent wine list to complement the experience. Set in a cozy and enchanting atmosphere, guests can enjoy a blend of local and international cuisine.” But we left VERY disappointed and upset at 9pm after not eating most of the food and returning a complete meal… Here are the details: First: We ordered shortly after arriving. We waited and waited and nearly left (I wish we had) until around 8:20, after more than 60 min of waiting, our food arrived. Details of each person in our party and their experience: (Note: none of us likes to complain) The best meal: Filet Mignon I asked for very well done – not at all red – and as usual I explained to have it butterflied to make sure it is 100% well-done (most cooks do not enjoy cooking filet mignon that much, but that is how I like it). The meal arrived, i cut into the meat, and it was only medium done - all red in the middle. I sent it back, and it came back nearly well done – still a little pink, but I ate it, and it was tender and tasty, as was the mushroom gravy served with it. Also served with it were sliced carrots – nearly raw and broccoli – overcooked. I opted for smashed garlic potatoes as a side, and they were very piecey, dry and at best lukewarm. Next: 8 oz New York Style Strip Steak with grit in the salad... My husband had the 8 oz ny strip steak, he asked for it to be medium-well, and it was okay, (more medium-rare than medium-well) but the meat was very thick and very tough. Same as mine, the carrots were nearly raw but the broccoli was overcooked. He had a salad on the side, and ate some with good appetite, but then bit on sand or something gritty and stopped eating it. My friend had the Prime Rib Steak – excessively spicy cesar salad... The prime rib steak was okay, but tough. She noted the cold veggies and asked to have them replacec with a cesar salad. This was done, but no mention that they gave her an extremely spicy variant without telling her. It was so spicy that she couldn’t eat it although she usually doesn’t mind spicy food... Now the WORST: her husbands 8 oz ny strip steak. (see image) I can only say that the best part of it was that he was not charged for it after he complained and returned the plate. He had ordered the steak to be medium-well, but not only was it extremely thick, and when he cut into it, it was not only tough, but the blood came dripping out of it - it was cooked rare at best, and he was disgusted and felt grossed out by this bloody “blob” with a very thin crust. They offered a substitution but since we already had waited for over an hour he refused and did not eat with us this evening. So, he returned the whole plate and watched us struggle with our meals. That said, the servers were very nice and apologetic. It seems to be a kitchen issue. We asked for a discount, and as an added insult they gave us a whopping discount of less than $8 on an around $123 bill…(for the 2 meals of one couple) and of $6 for the one meal of the other couple...

We ate three Dinner meals and three Breakfasts here while staying at Sinbad's. Excellent food and spectacular service. Staff are proud and aim to please. Highly recommend while in Gander.

Mystic’s food is good but service slow

I have been to the Mystic 4 times in the past 2months. Meals were delicious but service is pretty slow- even if there are few people in the restaurant.

This restaurant was top notch. I had the opportunity to have late night drink, breakfast and a fine dinner here. With every visit I was given a very warm welcoming greeting and sat down in the lower level by the fireplace. Food was very good. The Strawberry Infused Beef Tenderloin was out of this world. Great combination of flavor. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options. Food was great and service was even better. Thank You.
