The place to be in Gander

Not sure if it was just packed because it was karaoke night but this bar seems to be the go to spot for nightlife in Gander. They have plenty of tv’s for sports and they also serve standard bar food. They have a good selection of beer and provide entertainment in the form of trivia and karaoke on certain nights.

Nice little pub

This is the kind of pub where everybody knows your name ... or almost. Access was a bit of a challenge as this establishment is on the second floor of a closed down hotel. The pub itself is pretty standard, but the patio was a great place to have a beer outside. Lots of birds - Hitchcock comes to mind - so we quickly opened the umbrella. Saturday is fish and chips night (buy one, get one at half price) so the choice was easy. Excellent cod, light, flaky, tender in a tasty batter. The tartare was equally good as well as the cole slaw. An abundance of fries, way too much to finish. Friendly service. Place started filling up quickly after we arrived, mainly locals that seemed to know each other. Overall a great watering hole with some very good food.

Piss poor service

My sister and I arrived expecting to hear some music and have a couple of drinks. 15 minutes later we still had not been recognized by the servers and when I signaled one she made eye contact and moved to smother table. We left.

Music was a nice level Prices were good for food and cocktails. We got Screeched in! (Check their schedule- I think it’s Thurs through Saturday or Sunday, at 10:30 pm.) it will take them about half an hour to set you up. Nice ambience Friendly waitress.

Service? What service?

Went with my sister to hear live music. We were there 20 minutes with zero service. It was NOT busy. A server passed by our table and smiled and that’s it. Never had that happen in my life. I do not recommend this place.

3 hours of waiting for horrible supper

We reserved a table for 6 pm (2 people) - ordered drinks and supper by 6:30 and were left to wait. I ordered the steak, baked potato and a Caesar salad for appetizer. I specifically asked if the mushrooms were fresh and was assured they were... After a 2 and half hour wait, without even asked to refresh the drink, the meal arrived. A minute steak - cooked grey, canned mushrooms - not even warmed up, and the Caesar salad was imitation bacon bits, Kraft dressing, and boxed croutons...horrible,,,I was starving, took a couple mouthfuls and left it. NEVER AGAIN AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMED THIS PLACE. I HAVE A PICTURE

Great food and excellent service.

Was recommended this place through our hotel. It was relatively priced and had a good selection of food and alcohol. They had great deals on during happy hour. The food was really nice, tasty and enjoyed the sun out in their balcony outside. They had music on inside when the door was shut you couldn’t hear it which was perfect if you didn’t fancy the music. The staff were very friendly and always smiling even though they were rushed off their feet.

We were in town for meetings and have not been here for years so we decided to drop in. I had the Legends burger and a beer and my wife had chicken fingers and waffle fries. Tasted good. Loved the bar set up and atmosphere. Decent place to eat and the service was great. Will return.

Leave your preciousness at the door

This hidden away place, does not shout "here i am" to the street. The nondescript entry however belies the little gem inside. Its not fancy. Its not trendy. Its not hipster-land. Thank goodness. Doesn't matter if you are a police officer, school teacher, logger, doctor, fisherman, truck driver or biker - you will fit right in. You can belly up to the bar and have a simply good pint of Guinness. You can slouch to a table by the performance stage and listen up to some very good local singer. You can find a place in a distant corner and jaw to your hearts content. If you are lucky, you will be accompanied by locals who will soon teach you that there is no place like Newfoundland to "have a time". And, when it comes time to eat, you can't go wrong with the wings. First rate really. Better than in Buffalo! Or Toronto!

My family and I decided to take my Mom out as we just lost our Father. There were three people in the building. We went to the bar, ordered drinks and food. Sat down at a table. We waited and then we were served. The food was great. While waiting for the table to be cleaned I noticed that the waitress was serving two couples next to us playing the machines. She brought them drinks, cashed in their winnings fir the. We sat for about a half hour after we finished eating to have the tabled cleaned. In fact I had to ask to have it cleaned. What a shock when the waitress came to the table and started literally throwing the plates into her bin like someone who was deeply upset. Really disappointed with the rude service.

Typical pub grub

Legends is "the main attraction" for most of the locals. Generally have the best love entertainment. Burgers are great. But salty. Wings are tooooo salty. Even with a sea of got sauce, still too salty! Everything is salty really, but it's a nice venue!
