We asked someone at the local brewery where the best place to eat was and he recommended this place. It was packed on a Tuesday for lunch.
I had a large bowl of seafood chowder with lots of seafood for $15.00. It was delicious. My husband had the shrimp stuffed potato skins and said they were plenty big enough for lunch. We also shared an order of onion rings and weren’t able to eat them all.
The large bowls of mussels that went by looked great too!
Would definitely recommend this place!

We enjoyed another nice family meal together. Pub is a little spartan but nice. Pub food is good but the menu does include salads. Beer on tap is good with a full selection of other hard and soft drinks. Dinner with some desserts plus drinks hard and soft with tip was a little over $200 so not too expensive. Our server was really nice and attentive. There is some off street parking within a short walk. Can get busy after 5pm so show up a little earlier. All in all everyone was happy.

At first glance, I wasn't convinced by this roadside restaurant. Well it was a nice surprise because we ate very well there! The fish and chips were very good, with option of 1 or 2 fish fillets; very good burger also and a delicious tartar sauce. For those with a sweet tooth, the slices of cheesecake are huge, you can share them without worry!
The waitresses were all very smiling and attentive to ensure that we didn't miss anything.

We stopped at Route 14 for lunch and were so pleased with both the service and the food! Our host was happy to seat us on the patio with our dog, and our server was very accommodating with our dietary issues (gluten intolerances).
The food was incredible! We both had the Niçoise Salad with pan seared albacore tuna and it was absolutely delicious! It was beautifully presented and everything in the salad paired perfectly together. Can’t say enough about this dish!
Next time you’re in Sooke, you have to check out this gem of a place.

Online menu cannot be read, so I phoned them and was quoted fish and chips, $22.95 per 2pc. order-was charged $28.00- with tax it should not come to $28.00. This was a take out order I did not pick up personally, a friend picked it up. Besides the batter was flat, the leavening agent was dead. Probably batter should be remade more often. No lemon inc. Very dry coleslaw, next to zero dressing.

Dropped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Great ambience with lots of old rock music posters to keep you entertained - check out the photo of an old fave in the washroom! All four of our party really enjoyed our chowder, Caesar salad and the daily lunch special Reuben sandwich. Our server was very friendly and willingly checked out answers to our questions about the food. Don’t hesitate to eat here - you won’t be disappointed.

My friends and I stopped on our road-trip for lunch. Parking lot a little tricky to enter off the 14 but we managed. Nice choice of table seating options inside or out in patio or in the bar are. The vibe was relaxed and friendly. The food was good, especially the seafood chowder. I don’t think I’d order the shrimp stuffed potato skins again though: kinda bland and flavors didn’t mesh well. My friend enjoyed her salad and burger combo and the other had a Caesar chicken wrap she liked. Fries were steak fries and you could get homemade ranch h dressing with them.
All in all, a good lunch at a fair price.

The fact that we dine here several times a month says a lot because we wouldn't be back if we had had a negative experience. Having said that, we haven't had a meal we didn't like nor had a server that didn't make us feel valued and welcome. This trip around we had the mussels (shared by two) with a side of garlic toast to make sure none of the delicious sauce was wasted and a bowl of chowder. All I can say is go and try out Route 14's menu yourself. You will not be disappointed. Our server this time around was Audra. Friendly, caring, a real keeper.

We found this restaurant online and stopped in midweek, around 6:30 pm and it was BUSY! (For good reason).
Choose outdoor or indoor seating. Indoors, enjoy music memorabilia from Beatles, Tina Turner, Tragically hip and more!
Varied menu including local flavours, but also burgers and fries.
Full bar, but with the local strike, they may be out of your spirit-not their fault, so try something new!!
Owner actively on the floor helping servers which was good to see, but staff extremely efficient! Great meal, well made and presented.

This Evening we decided to drop in to route 14 for dinner, we had no great expectations as it was our first visit. The building is not exceptional in any way, nor suggestive of a particularly outstanding experience within. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the young receptionist and shown to the table. Great atmosphere became obvious from the very beginning, this is very much a local happening place. Our server was Emma who is simply amazing, extremely friendly and professional, the reason for the ambiance in this unassuming restaurant became immediately apparent. Drinks served and order taken, we were overwhelmed by the quality of the dishes ordered. I had the lamb and my wife the special chicken dish, neither of us had anticipated this level of preparation from the kitchen. We so enjoyed our meal that I ordered a gluten-free dessert which again exceeded our expectations. This is a very professionally run establishment, we so recommend it to anyone in the Sooke area.

On the lower side of average. Chicken wings were nice but mains were disappointing. Lamb dish - lamb was fatty, overcooked and drenched in the sauce. Find my look anything like the photos! Rice looked like packet, flavoured rice from the grocery store. Burger was lukewarm and a little dry; sons were underwhelmed by the fried chicken sandwich.
Our server was lovely and attentive, but we’ve eaten at much better places. We’re in Sooke on vacation from the Mainland and wish we’d tried somewhere else for one of our meals out.

The food is just not great, especially for the prices. The burger was decent, paella was absolute mush, chowder had tough fish pieces and not much going for it. The staff is lovely however and it doesn’t seem that there’s too many restaurants in Sooke, so if you go here I would order bar classics and not try for the more ambitious menu items.

We came here due to great TA reviews. Service is friendly, kids' menu available, daily specials too, tables were distanced apart and classic rock music matched the vibe of this casual joint. Food wasn't expensive nor truly memorable but it's a safe bet that it's a comfortable setting to get together with friends and family for pub grub at a reasonable price. Plenty of tv screens inside showing sports. It's right off the main road, with its own parking lot.

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and the place was hopping, obviously a popular spot, which we thought was a good sign. The staff was very accommodating in finding us a table after a short wait. The menu had lots of choices. My companions enjoyed their food very much; I found my garlic and parmesan chicken wings rather tasteless.

Despite the unappealing look of the place, we, a party of 4 adults, were intrigued by the unlikely menu items on hand. Not expecting too much frankly, we were pleasantly surprised at how good most of the food was. The only disappointment was the calamari, which was a bit too heavy on the coating. The other 3 dishes were first-class, and that’s saying a lot given that one was Mac and cheese! All the staff were pleasant and friendly and our server was very efficient and genuinely interested. Desserts could have been a bit less ‘alcohol’ themed, as not everyone wants that. Not a cheap night out for pub fare, but this one is above the usual standard and being aware of their produce is another plus for this place. A great choice in Sooke.
