Dinner on a Sunday evening in October (around 7pm) without Reservation with an excellent welcome, tasty and hearty dishes. Warm atmosphere in a somewhat kitsch setting of "pirates of the Caribbean". Soup of the day and home fries on top. Pork tomatohawk, chicken wings, buffalo bib and burger + beer and dessert for 48$CA or 32€/pers (tax and service included). Long service and plastic glasses compensated by the good quality of the dishes and the friendliness of the waitress who offers supplements.

Great Views , Good Food and Fun Times

My family and I were visiting Ottawa on July 19th and saw this restaurant from across the river at a look out and decided to drive across and give it a try. We did come just as dinner was happening so we did have to wait a while before we could get a table as it was packed on the patio. We got a nice table on the outdoor covered patio and had a nice view of the river and surroundings. We had a pitcher of red sangria, iced teas, smoked meat sandwich, poutine, garlic bread with cheese and vegetable quesadilla, chicken burger. All was good and we received excellent service from our waitress- Marite...as she spoke some English and we spoke some French - we had a good laugh with each other when ordering. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will come back again when we are in the area. Thank you to Marite for laughing at my broken french mixed with Spanish. It was a fun time!!!

Extremely unimpressed with the dock attendent

A group of five of us pulled up in our boat and parked at one of the several empty spots on the dock that said “Restaurant Parking”. We tied off our boat and started to get out. A man from the restaurant came over and said they were full. We said “okay we’ll park for 15 Minutes order food and get it to go and leave” he again said no and we had to leave. We then said “okay, you’re full, so why does it matter that we’re parked here? We can’t just go order and get it to go?” Again he replied “no”. My brother-in-law then asked for his name and he was refused. He asked again and the man rudely said “why do you need me name? What? You want to go on a date or something?” I am floored that he would speak to potential customers like that. He can’t even let us park for 15 minutes to order and leave? The dock wasn’t even full. Extremely unimpressed with this person. Whomever he was (we think his name may have been Pierre when we noticed a name tag at the last second) needs some serious training and a lesson in customer service. We will not be recommending this place nor will we try to go back. I strongly recommend if anyone decides to go here make sure you have other options and don’t let anyone speak to you this way.

Awful slow service, combined with less than average food and portions. Why is this place still open? Ever pirates wouldn't eat here. Worse offense: Ordering a pizza with side salad for $18, and receiving the equivalent of 2 pieces of pizza. No bounty here.

Worst Garlic Butterfly Shrimps Ever Eaten

Ordered Garlic Butterfly shrimps. The shrimps were overcooked couldn't even peel the meat from the shell. The seasoning on the shrimp is of not taste. Where is the garlic. The sauce was only oil instead of butter and garlic. Extremely deceiving. Food was way better in the past.

Just Awful!!

Most awful dock attendant and reception. Brought a group of 6 ladies celebrating 40th birthday by boat. It was an all girls party, my daughter’s friends. I baby sat 3 kids 6 yrs to 10yrs on the boat while they went to restaurant to eat and drink. The attendant was rude, did not want me to wait at the dock while they ate and asked that I spend money either on drinks or food if I was to stay docked. The dock was empty and I did not use space that was needed for someone else. The group spent over $600 in the establishment and had mediocre food. Never again.

Terrible service, cheap quality food

Terrible service, poor food, overpriced. Slowest service I’ve experienced for a long time. They try to get you to buy alcohol by only giving you a drink menu until you order a drink and when we didn’t order alcohol it was clearly not liked. Took 25 minutes to even order our food. Food is overpriced but cheap quality. Reminds me of the kind of place you’d get in Cancun. Although it is pirate themed it is not really a family restaurant in my opinion even on a Monday. Music and music videos playing on tv not kid appropriate. Kids menu very limited. Perhaps on the weekend it’s a party place. Just not the kind of place I’d take my kids again but also wouldn’t return in any situation.

Bad Experience

Rude Dock Attendant (again). Big storm. Lightening. Heavy Rain. We pulled in to tie up for shelter from the storm (we had our sides/screens all up but visibility was low). He came running down saying “you can’t dock here. It’s private”. We said we just wanted to wait out the storm and he again said “no it’s private”. He made us leave. In a storm. Unreal. I’ve seen at least 3 posts about this guy. NOT recommended!

Homophobic owner/manager. Not safe for LGBT

Now, seeing other people's reviews, I understand that it is not a one-off, but more of a stable trend. Although it doesn't make the situation more pleasurable. My wife and I wanted to spend a romantic evening near the water. She really liked the cute little area she had passed by on her bike ride one day, and she talked about bringing me there for weeks. Long story short, after a walk we decided to have dinner at Rest'o'bord Le Pirate. Now, as you may understand from the title, we are gay. And (sorry) we don't shy to show affection to each other in public like straight people do, meaning that if I want to hug my wife, I will, and if I want to give her a kiss, I will too, but we don't make out or anything like that. I think we look cute because we've had many people come up to us and say how great we look together. In the middle of our dinner some man comes up to us from behind and says something in French. I, not knowing French and thinking that it is one of those aw-you-are-so-cute moments, smile and say "Merci." As he left, I find out that he said that we should be "discreet." That honestly was more confusing than anything because we had no idea who this man was. He was drinking wine by himself a few tables away. We thought he was some weird drunk and decided to ignore him. Several minutes later the man comes up again. This time he understands that I don't speak French and tries to explain in English something about this being a restaurant, and him having been polite to us, but we hadn't listened. I come from a place where being gay is borderline illegal. This interaction figuratively threw me back into the past and in my fight or flight mode I just said "okay" trying to deescalate. At that moment I am thinking that the weird drunk might be an old creep who'd been staring at us all this time with some perverted pleasure, sipping his wine. I felt sick. The man says he is the owner. As he leaves again, my wife is devastated. We indeed are having a magical dinner. We asked a waitress who this man is, and she said he's a manager, not an owner. Needless to say, we nonetheless didn't feel very welcome and decided to leave. We take a picture of the man to document the incident. He sees it and runs up to us, and starts yelling we don't have class (?) and that it is a restaurant, and calling us slurs. My wife asked if he would've said the same were we a straight couple, to which the man didn't reply. He tried to get the wait staff on his side, but they mostly looked embarrassed. All in all, don't recommend. The "owner/manager" violates basic human rights.

Great smoke meat, good atmosphere

Was a nice day so we sat on the patio and enjoyed a drink, we had smoke meat and my guest had a chicken quesadilla, my smoke meat came in a burger bun but it was very good, would certainly order again.

Nice, simple food by the river

We spent a nice evening at this establishment, watching the river and enjoying simple but good food. We had poutine traditional, fish and chips, and hamburgers. Everyone enjoyed the evening and the food.

Joie de vivre Quebec style

Wonderful terrace overlooking the Ottawa River, and many boats passing by. Literally minutes away from downtown Ottawa, you can absorb the beauty of Point Gatineau. A limited menu of seafood selections, pasta, burgers and fajitas. Of course geared toward Quebecois tastes. Nice wine selection and domestic brews. All in all a wonderful evening with friends. The food is good, but do not expect haut cuisine. Just go there and enjoy a waterfront scene which is we don't have many gere in Ottawa-Gatineau.

The location is superb, view is amazing, people are friendly! Now the restaurant is very avarage, kind of very slow service, make sure you have enough time. Food is alright, nothing to wow about! Okay prices. I think most come for the view and location.
