A big thank you to Rhiannon, Caitlin and Chris for making this a highlight of our vacation through BC and Montana. They were professional yet fun and engaged. The atmosphere was quiet, until we arrived. The food was fantastic, my lunch was filling and my friend tried the pizza and be warned - it is not a single serve size... More

We were there last night and whilst the food was lovely and the atmosphere was good, there was a good musician playing., but we didn't appreciate the sweeping of the floor whilst we were sitting drinking our wine! We mentioned it to the waitress who said " they like us to keep busy"!!!! Very off putting.. Not sure we'll be... More

We ordered chicken club sandwich, beets salad and cheese grill sandwich with ham for our 10 year old. All nicely done and good quality of fresh ingredients. Not recommend the juice though, didn't like it.

My wife and I ordered the English breakfast. We asked for over easy eggs, they were cooked hard. Potatoes were very salty and the beans were raw and not cooked enough. Expensive and very disappointing. Coffee was good....

The decor is very lovely, very welcoming. It's always filled with happy-looking people. I had the salad with the (canned) beets in it, and I think it was a pecan, maybe two, slathered in dressing that I had asked for on the side. I was disappointed in this, but my partner enjoyed her tomato-basil soup. It was more expensive than... More

The staff were good but the food had some issues. We waited a long time for food and then we didn't get complete meals. Hard to call it breakfast when the eggs don't arrive for a while after your meal is plated. Some parts of the dishes were also cold when they should have been at least warm.

As a solo diner I wanted somewhere I could just sit and while away an hour or two without feeling rushed, this place was perfect, really welcoming. Waitress spent time to make chit chat with me and I felt immediately at ease. Delicious selection of sandwiches on artisan breads. Plenty of veggie options and some other great healthier options too.... More

The upbeat atmosphere and bright surroundings, accompanied by a varied menu contributed to a positive dining experience. Our group of four enjoyed our lunch, especially the soup. The place was clean and the staff were customer oriented and attentive to all diners. Other customers were also friendly and proud to be locals showcasing a fine eatery. Would definitely recommend. Prices... More

After walking around in Fernie looking for a decent place to eat we found The Loaf. The number of people in the restaurant indicated that this was popular and hence a good place to eat. We were seated almost immediately and before long our waitress came over with lots of smiles and politeness. We ordered and about 10 minutes later... More

Love the new menu especially the sharing plates. Good value for the money. Service is not the greatest. Feels very impersonal, almost like they want you to leave asap.

The Loaf has been growing and evolving for seven years, from a start-up in a miner's cottage to a firm favourite in Fernie's Downtown core. Owners Phil & Claire Gadd have always designed The Loaf to be accessible and affordable, a neighbourhood restaurant where everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, no matter what the time of day. With excellent food, made from scratch on the premises daily. Now its time for some changes: updating the interior to make a more comfortable dining experience, extending the list of craft beers and offering more wines and liquor and creating an environment where the focus is on exceptional food, good company and the relaxed dining experience. "Our perfect wish for Fernie is a place with craft beers, a good solid wine list by the glass, pizzas, pasta, and some other nice mains, but nothing too fancy. And that's exactly what we're aiming to do at The Loaf."
