Pasta dishes we're excellent. Pizza was also very good, a thin pizza if you like that kind. Somewhat slow to prepare but was definitely worth the wait. Excellent, friendly service.

We enjoy our weekend getaways in Fernie and always try to support local restaurants. Loaf had delicious food, however we were disappointed in the temperature of the soup we received. It was a cold rainy weekend and we wanted nothing more than a hot bowl of soup, and sandwich. The soup portion was very small and served cold. I would... More

3 strikes and your out. Slow service, mediocre food at best, have tried lunch, dinner and now brunch. Over priced for quality of food served. An example is frozen potato cakes served as hash browns, like the ones from McDonald's.

If you are staying in the Fernie area or just driving through, make sure you venture off the highway to the real "Main Street". Check out Loaf while you are there for great sandwiches and pizzas. The breakfast is also good. Sit down and enjoy or take it to go.

This is exactly the kind of coffee shop I like to hang out in. Not only was the coffee excellent, but the lunches there were delicious as well. I had minestrone soup with their sourdough bread. This was obviously homemade soup, seasoned perfectly. The bread was so soft, if I wasn't traveling, I'd have bought some to take home (which... More

What a great lunch. As posted earlier, it was a little confusing as to sit or go to counter to place order. Within seconds a waitress brought us a menu. We ordered a pizza to shares and my husband had the soup of the day. While waiting for our lunch, my husband watched the chef make the pizza. Our waitress... More

Upon entering I was a little confused on the process (order or sit down for service?). It's a restaurant and a bakery, thus if you want, sit down and someone will serve you. Otherwise go to the counter to order your loaf of bread and off you go. Didn't try the food this time but it looked good. Nice atmosphere.

Free live music on Friday night was a treat. The kids had a fun and the service was great. The burger was the highlight, great beef and even better bun, but what made it was the roasted tomato and the sunny-side up egg on top, fries and salad included with it. A++

It was mothers day and they were super busy. But everyone was really friendly and they managed to find us a table. We ordered off the brunch menu, and the food was delicious. It was a little slow coming but we'll worth the wait and that was to be expected on such a busy day. Would highly recommend this place

Have been for dinner first time, risotto was still hard and tasteless pizza not to bad but wouldn't go back for dinner. Been back for breakfast since only place open in fernie on a Sunday for breakfast, wasn't to bad but service was slow and average, coffee was burnt and so hot had to finish breakfast before I could drink... Description
The Loaf has been growing and evolving for seven years, from a start-up in a miner's cottage to a firm favourite in Fernie's Downtown core. Owners Phil & Claire Gadd have always designed The Loaf to be accessible and affordable, a neighbourhood restaurant where everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, no matter what the time of day. With excellent food, made from scratch on the premises daily. Now its time for some changes: updating the interior to make a more comfortable dining experience, extending the list of craft beers and offering more wines and liquor and creating an environment where the focus is on exceptional food, good company and the relaxed dining experience. "Our perfect wish for Fernie is a place with craft beers, a good solid wine list by the glass, pizzas, pasta, and some other nice mains, but nothing too fancy. And that's exactly what we're aiming to do at The Loaf."
