The food was divine, the staff delightful, a perfect place for a special occasion. We truly felt celebrated. Thank you Tania and Melissa for a lovely evening.

Service and quality of the food as well as the ambiance was amazing. We tried some seafood dishes, the lobster spaghetti and the scallops, they they were delicious atwell prepared. We definitely recommend that restaurant to anybody who would like an amazing meal.
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying our anniversary dinner at this exceptional restaurant. From the food, the wine, the service, and the ambience, everything was truly amazing. We especially enjoyed the local artwork displayed throughout the establishment. Before booking, I had...read other reviews suggesting this was the best restaurant in the Laurentiens, and I would resoundlingly agree. We will be back!More
I eat lunch at this amazing restaurant today with my friend. It was my second visit. The food was better than I remembered. In one word: outstanding! Yet, the client service needs lots of improvement. The waitress who served us, Kitty, was extremely rushed to...introduce the menu, was not nice and/ or welcoming and almost rude. Her client service skills are lacking. Another male employee who worked at the bar, came to talk to us after we ate. What a nice and welcoming gentleman! I wish he served us. Looking forward to going back! NoraMore
We wanted to do a special birthday celebration while maintaining pandemic restrictions. We ordered food for pick up at Maison 1890 and it was wonderful. We ordered 3 different appetizers, 3 different mains, and 2 different desserts: all were delicious, with inventive flavors, well-presented and...easy to warm up at home. Thanks Maison 1890 for bringing some joy to our dinner table during these difficult times!More
What makes a great restaurant is food, service and ambiance, and restaurant 1890 has it all. The food is international quality as is the service and the ambiance is cozy and warm. Thanks Renee from Randa and Joe N.
Best restaurant in ALL of the Laurentians. The food, wine selection, presentation, service, atmosphere is tops. Unfortunately my husband does not eat lunch because friends brought me there recently for a birthday lunch and we were all wowed. Price is what you would expect for such...exceptional quality.More
Most high end restaurant in St-agathe, but definitely worth eating there. Everything I ate (appetizer, soup, main course, dessert) was great! It is not cheap, but the vibe there is so great and you can even purchase things to bring home such as tourtiere and...soup. Reserve in advance as it is very popular!More
We had a family get together at lunch. Go menu, fish rascasse was tasty and other guests also enjoyed a pork dish. Capuchino was not at par with Italian one but after all it's a French restaurant!
My first time here was so disappointing I gave it a deservedly harsh review. I did admit it might not have been representative of the food preparation here and agreed to give it a second chance. I’m glad I did. We were warmly greeted and...served by the hostess co-owner. Everyone among our 4 couples seemed to enjoy their meals and experience. The atmosphere is warm and charming although the nearby sign attributed to Jacques Parizeau’s room gave me an off feeling. At least he wasn’t there to complain about us “ethnics”. We enjoyed the mushroom soup of the day. It pleased the vegans in our party. My scallops were cooked perfectly and my wife enjoyed the chevre salad with grilled vegetables. Our friends enjoyed the cod and the bavette steak and frites. The food was tasty, but not memorable. My main issue is the price. For a Montrealer you’re looking at Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton 5 star cost. Then again, there’s not much competition nearby and many clients are likely to be tourists. All in all, I would recommend and we’re likely to return.More
This is a very good restaurant where you will find food that you are familiar with, but much better that what you could ever achieve at home. Try their Warm goat cheese on grilled vegetables or their Flank Steak, both delicious. Skip the soup but...not the bread which is so good. The atmosphere is warm and the service good. The wine selection is good but not great. The restaurant is almost always full and one feels like they no longer have to try very hard to satisfy the clientele. I believe that it is a worthy experience as the food is generally very good.More
Maison 1890 is a brilliant gem of fine cuisine, great service and a lovely setting. It is exceptionally successful because it is exceptional, every time. On our most recent visit we enjoyed lighter meals (scallops, squid) which were perfect, with some interesting wines. From experience...we can recommend any seafood dish, or the rack of lamb, the chops, the fantastic beef, and the salads (a truly great Caesar).More
We were in the Mont Tremblant area headed back to the airport, and stopped here at an odd time (4 pm on a Tuesday) hoping to get dinner. The kitchen hadn't yet opened for dinner, but we were told they had oysters for $1 each...so we sat down and shared a dozen between the two of us, and also ordered a glass of wine. The soup of the day was also available - a delicious mushroom vegetable soup with a bit of cream, served in beautiful stoneware bowls. Then - surprise! - the Chef opened the kitchen and we ordered dinner. It was fantastic! Super delicious. I had the halibut which was cooked to perfection: crisp on the outside, and firm juicy flakes, served with flavourful vegetables that were also a feast for the eyes. My husband had the stuffed chicken and was equally pleased. Our servers were very friendly and helpful -- highly recommend the service as well as the food. Fine dining menu and pricing. We would go back if we are ever again in the area (we drove around some of the lake and gazed at gorgeous houses).More
I had never heard of this restaurant before we went. From the outside it looks like a home. When you walk in you are surrounded by a beautiful decor. We were a small group of 11. The waitress was a bit cold but we shrugged...it off. My husband ordered the bavette with chive sauce. For the price it was not worth it. It was very chewy and did not fall apart like a bavette should. The taste was fine. I ordered an entree of serano ham. It was delicious. A little expensive for a plate that small. For dinner I ordered the lobster spaghetti. It was VERY expensive for the quality. I had numerous small pieces of shells left in the sauce. And the sauce tasted very basic as if it was bought at the grocery store. When we asked for coffee we seemed to bother her. Our cups werent even filled ( only 3/4 of a cup ). It was a very beautiful place but very expensive. And the staff was cold not friendly.More
We’ve dined at 1890 many times. Located in a converted house, the restaurant has some interesting spaces, and is eclectically decorated. The chef works with seasonal ingredients, and the food is tasty and upscale, albeit a little pricey for the town of Ste-Agathe. Absolutely our...favorite restaurant in town, and the chef, his wife, and their staff are delightful.More
