Late for breakfast? Well, this restaurant extends it past noon. And they have a good lunch menu as well. We always like eating here because the food is fresh and nicely presented, yet you get the down-home stuff you really like for brekkie. I had two poached eggs on potato posties (latkes) with a side a grain toast and fresh ja, My wife had the eggs and bacon. They actually asked how much I wanted the poached eggs cooked (runny, medium or hard). They came exactly as I had requested. Staff are very friendly and the view of the harbour is a bonus from pretty much every table. Outdoor eating in season makes this a laid back location to take your first two meals of the day. Just opened for the season in March and that is good because there are not too many restaurants functioning n the off season here. Of course, with Covid-19, best to check before coming. We do't know day to day what the rules will be.

We stopped in for breakfast and it was delicious! Starting with my coffee- I usually hate restaurant coffee as it doesn’t taste like anything- but this was delicious and also served to me in a decent sized mug (not those little mugs you usually get a breakfast coffee in). I had eggs and toast and I’m not sure What they did to the scrambled egg but it was fluffy and delicious. The toast was clearly some sort of homemade bread and wait for it.... HOMEMADE RASPBERRY JAM. My daughter had French toast which was made with raisin oat bread, and my husband had a traditional breakfast. The bacon was. It regular bacon, it was fantastic, and the potatoes were also done in a sort of patty that was so good. I’m go grateful we stopped in!

I've been eating at the Savvy Sailor for a few years now, and they never disappoint. Their breakfast muesli is sooo.... good, and unlike most places, you can get breakfast until 1:00 pm. The other day, I had the pulled pork tacos, served with guacamole, red cabbage slaw and mango salsa, and they were absolutely delicious. They've really gone above and beyond with their Covid measures, plexi-glass between tables, etc., and the people who work there are always excellent. Love it for consistency, value and overall tastiness. If the weather's good, you can sit on the small deck and watch the waterfront, including the Bluenose II when it's in port. A highlight of trips to Lunenburg for me.

So I will say I was rather biased by our trip here, because I had just proposed, and she said yes! However, I digress... The food here was spectacular regardless! Jointly we had some beer, she got the lobster roll and I got the fish tacos. The lobster roll was over-stuffed in the best way possible, and the sweetness of my fish taco was able to overcome my excitement of the engagement! We had a wonderful meal, finished off with a delicious rum cake. I was recommended this place twice and would definitely recommend it myself! Solid 10/10 to the fine staff at the Savvy Sailor!

Our first day in town we saw this place while exploring the town. Very crowded, so that tells you it must be really good. We stopped in on our second day for a late lunch. Oh sooo good. I had the beet salad, husband had the soup and we shared the bruschetta flatbread (get this no matter what else you order). Service was great. Really nice, friendly staff. It was a beautiful sunny day sitting outside. Hope to go back to Lunenburg someday. This will be our first stop for a meal. Want to try breakfast and of course lunch again.

We visited Lunenburg for a week long vacation. We were anxious to try dining in the many eating establishments on Montague Street. Our first stop was The Savvy Sailor. Sarah, our charming server was so helpful and pleasant. Took our touristy pictures as we watched the Bluenose dock from its final seasonal trip. Captivated by Sarah and the delicious food, we ate there every day! So much for trying lots of restaurants .The haddock chowder was rich and creamy. The deserts were decadent as they should be. The lobster rolls were served on a toasted bun, super. Our daughter , visiting from Barrie even ordered two to take back to Halifax on our final visit. We thanked Sarah as we finished our home style breakfast. Will we return. You bet !! Tom, Mary, Kathy, Rachel Osborne

As a photographer I visit the Lunenburg area on a regular basis. Ever since enjoying breakfast at The Savvy Sailor a year ago, I make a point of scheduling my photo shoots in such a way that I pay the restaurant a visit. Most recently, I had breakfast after a sunrise photo shoot. The breakfast was basic – two poached eggs, multi-grain toast, smoked bacon, rosti potatoes and fabulous coffee – but all prepared with great care and attention to quality. As a bonus, the staff is super friendly. And then there’s the view of the harbour.

We stopped in here for a quick lunch whilst walking around the waterfront in colourful Lunenburg. Nice views of the water from this restaurant (unfortunately the outdoor deck was closed, so we had to sit inside). Restaurant was small, clean and had friendly staff. I ate the scallops with a cabbage & carrot/peanut salad and my husband ate the chicken wrap. Items were a bit overpriced because I suppose the location was favourable and had good views - a tourist trap for sure and we fell for it. Would probably not eat here again because there was nothing memorable to capture our hearts and bring us back here again.

We stopped here for breakfast and were not disappointed. The location of the restaurant overlooks the harbour and is very quaint. The service was excellent. Efficient and friendly. Everyone was adhering to Covid-19 protocols. The eggs benny was great. The portion was a nice size and the potato cake was very yummy. The only “complaint” and it is very minor is that the eggs were slightly overcooked but otherwise delicious. The coffee was a nice rich dark roast. We will definitely be back.

Arrived to restaurant on a rather chilly, windy day. Place was packed & we had to wait 5-10 mins for a table. Staff & server were very friendly. Menu had a good selection of the usual breakfast fare and coffee refills were free which was a nice bonus. The food was good but not exceptional. On most mornings, Lunenburg eateries are pretty busy so dropping into Savvy Sailor is a good option.

The Savvy Sailor ended up being our 'go to' place for breakfasts while on holiday in Lunenburg. We were surprised how few places are offering breakfast but were lucky to find this place. Good variety of options - we tried a few - but my favourite has to be the cinnamon and maple syroup French toast. Also loved the branded mugs. Wish I could take one home with me to remind me of the holiday

I had a bit of time before my excursion in Lunenburg and wanted to have a latte and a bite to eat. When I decided on The Savvy Sailor I asked if I could get just a latte and a sweet and that wasn't a problem but they did forewarn me that the latte machine was acting up so couldn't promise me a latte. As that wasn't the end of the world I went in and was offered a table outside on the back deck so I could enjoy the view of the harbour which was lovely. It was a great fall day and perfect to enjoy the scenery. I ordered a regular coffee and decided to have a breakfast of the delicious sounding french toast with sliced bananas. And it didn't disappoint - lovely browned pieces with ample maple syrup and bananas. It was delicious and very filling. Staff was great and when I popped in to use the restroom they made sure I knew I left my jacket at the table in case I was leaving and forgot it. Kept a good eye on my coffee intake so I wasn't without and made sure everything was great. Would certainly go back again to try other items on their menu and enjoy the view.

This is by far my favorite seasonal restaurant in Lunenburg NS. The food is fresh and no deep fried foods which is a pleasant option. The lobster roll was great and came with a good sized serving of cold slaw. The pan fried haddock came with an option of salads and the kale salad was delicious. The fish plate also came with rhubarb relish, which was lovely. Service excellent and ambiance nice with great views of the harbour.

My family chose this restaurant since it offers gluten free dining. The breakfast was excellent and the service was great . We were able to sit outside on deck since it was a beautiful morning . They offered the best raspberry preserves and it is available for sale. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast .

Had both breakfast and lunch here. Service, location, food all excellent. Breakfast was fresh. Eggs were a bit overcooked and so I would specify your preference (we didn’t). Chowder and zucchini sticks were both delicious, and their lobster roll looked amazing, though a bit pricey. We would definitely return.
