Stopped in here for lunch for the first time. The place looks so small from the front...but it is deceiving. It is larger than you think. The place was busy but we managed to snag the last booth for 2. The interior is dark, cozy and decorated nicely with a nautical theme. The menu is varied, with something for everyone. We decided on a 1 pc fish and chips for $9, and a pastrami on rye for $12 with a substitution of a Cesar Salad instead of fries for an extra $2.50 The food arrived and we were both wowed with the presentation and size of the meal. The fish was cooked perfectly with a crunchy batter that was not greasy. The home cut fries were excellent. The pastrami on rye was equally as tasty but the star of the meal was the Cesar Salad. Truly the best we have tasted in years. Lots of dressing, homemade croutons and a generous serving. We will definitely be back HINT: After maneuvering out front for a parking spot, we discovered they have their own parking lot out back. Head to Starr Street and take the first left to their lot.

We arrived without a reservation, saw a number of customers standing, but a server told us it would be 15-20 minutes, and it was. We had two Char burgers and pan fried halibut with fries and a Ceasar salad with chicken. All delicious and better than average pub food. Friendly and attentive service. Warmly recommended!

Locals recommended this to me and wasn't disappointed after looking at all restaurant in town. Inflated prices. So this was refreshing for a good local place for lunch. Had Fish and chips with extra 2 fish ($4 per piece) They were huge and well made and batter and crunch. Also had ceasar salad. Bit too cheezie for me but ok for family. This all feed 3 so good deal doing this and sharing as more than enough food for all. Nice place and decor esp middle part as airy and large in days of COVID dining. Very happy at end to find this local place with normal prices and good portions. Good selection of reasonable drafts too.

The Knot Pub is a really interesting place - old, charming, filled to the rafters with nautical collectibles. Food is hearty and very good. Sometimes a little too rich but always flavourful. Staff are super relaxed and really make you feel welcome even when you are standing at the door waiting for a table.

I don’t write reviews often but I had to for this place! Let me start by saying the food is amazing and honestly one of the best places I’ve eaten for pub style food. We had potato skins for a starter( yum), lobster linguine and a steak(rivals the Keg) and Caesar salad. The Caesar dressing on the salad was authentic caesar(not a mayo based dressing) and was sooo good! Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, the drinks were great as well! We had fast service despite being quite busy and the staff were very friendly! We did take out for carrot cake because we were too full to have dessert in house and my husband couldn’t stop raving about it! It had a lemon cream cheese frosting that made this cake stand out from typical carrot cakes I’ve had at other places! Compliments to the chef and staff! Highly recommend!

I ordered take out . I ordered the salmon burger with a side salad. It was 2.50 more for the salad but it was large salad and the salmon burger was great and the salad was ok. I didn't expect it to have cheese on it . I asked for balsamic dressing but got balsamic vinegar. It came to $20.00 which is a little pricy but it was very tasty. I did not realize that they charge .45 cents plus tax for a take out container. I guess they are not the only restaurant that does that. When in this area I would order from them again.

I have been to Lunenburg a few times over the years and once I was introduced to The Knot Pub and its homemade mussel soup I was hooked. Whenever I am close (within 2 hours LOL) I come for another bowl of pure heaven. I brought a friend with me that was visiting also and with no convincing had her order the soup also. We only got the cup size as a patron beside us highly recommended the caesar salad which is their go to. We shared one and it was great! I have tried a few other things on the menu as have friends and never been disappointed. When I get into Lunenburg I am nervous that maybe this time it is gone but NOPE! It is always busy with folks coming and going but your wait, if you have one, is always worth it.

I was very disappointed with the food especially since it was highly recommended. I ordered the 1-piece fish and chips and my friend had the fish cakes dinner. When I received the meal , the fish batter was burnt on the bottom and the French fries were not fresh I could not eat the fish and only ate a few fries. The waitress apologized and said she would not charge me for it. I looked at the bill that my friend paid afterwards and discovered she deducted only the price of the fish and charged him $7.00 for the fries even though she took all of the fries back also. My friend’s meal was not up to par as there wasn’t much cod in it, mostly potatoes and onions. On the menu, the dinner was priced as $16.00 but on the bill he was charged $20.00. Unfortunately I did not see the bill until a day later or else I would have addressed this problem immediately at the pub. As a former Nova Scotian I was angry about the treatment we received. Was it an attitude that we were tourists and it didn’t matter or that they would only be there once so who cares? I must admit I thought it was petty that they only partially deducted the cost of my meal ( not the whole meal) but also overcharged my friend for his meal. Overall I would not recommend this pub and if you do go, please check your bill thoroughly before you pay. I know I will go back to Lunenburg soon but I don’t think I will go to this pub again

My husband has been looking forward to visiting The Knot, so we took advantage of an opportunity on a recent weekday to have an early supper there. Though we arrived before 5 p.m., we were told that the only seating available for the two of us was at the bar or one table outdoors. So we took the outdoor table, our first mistake (though it was not The Knot's fault that it was pretty chilly). Our order was taken within a reasonable time and our drinks arrived OK, but it then took more than an hour for our food (mussel soup and a Lunenburg sausage burger) to show up, while we just sat and shivered. Our server never came to offer reassurance or see if we wanted anything else. The food, when it came, was so-so. At least it was hot! We feel as if a restaurant should warn diners if they are too busy to offer reasonable service.

We dropped in to have a drink and food as the bar had been suggested to us. We were 6 in our group. We had a drink, ordered a second and our food. An hour later we checked with the server as we had not received our food although those around us as well as those who had arrived after us had obtained their food, ate and had left. We were not given any explanation. We were told it would be out within a few minutes. 17 min later we decided to leave. It was 8:52pm. The beer was cold and good !

Chose this establishment due to having a decent beer without a sack of hops and fish n chips with chips being cut fresh rather than frozen. Informed a 45 minute wait for food. Arrived an hour later I think the order was lost as when promoting server at 45 minutes. She returned saying it will be 10 to 15 minutes. The place was nearly empty by then. Packed out before. The beer I wanted was offline. The fries were overcooked as well as the batter. Fish was nice. Disappointed with the whole experience. Back to the UK for proper fish n chips then!

Tried to eat here one night and it was not open, so had to return later in the week, and thankfully, it was open and we got the last table on the inside - others were available on the patio, but it was too cool for us. [Staffing issues because of COVID limited their openings.] The Fish & Chips was a good size serving, but the fish was just a little greasy. The chips were nice and crispy though. They were on a leaf of lettuce which did nothing to absorb the grease. For desert, one Peanut Butter Pie was ordered to be shared, but was found to be so good, that a second was ordered, so the sharing wasn't required. My Apple Crisp was so-so, no where as good as the pie.

Wow what a disappointment. French onion soup used to be $8/bowl, now on menu for $14. With tax and tip that would be $16-17!!! For a bowl of soup! Fish and chips were 1/3 less in size than they have always been. Your online menu should reflect current pricing as well. Won't be back. There are enough places to be ripped off in.

We enjoyed dinner here on our recent visit to Lunenburg. We were most impressed with the food, the service and the wide variety of patrons, young and old. From the outside it was hard to tell if it was even open. Inside it was packed. We initially sat at the bar but they quickly moved us to a table when one became available. Would definitely recommend a drink or dinner (better yet both!), here.

Walked over to the Knot on my lunch break wanting nothing more than their Caesar salad to go. It was 3pm in the afternoon and the restaurant was at least half empty (including the patio). I was told unfortunately that they weren’t able to accommodate take out orders because they were too busy. While I totally understand this, I could have sat down at one of the numerous tables, smelling like sweat, covered in sawdust (I work construction) and ordered a salad and then directly asked for box once delivered to my table paid and left. They then would have had to sanitize my table too! I would have taken much left effort than a sit down customer to appease being in the restaurant for a single order, not requiring repeat trips to my table. How disappointing. Their loss, the Grand Baker was happy to accommodate me.
