Fish and Chips disaster - on menu? tender Atlantic Haddock. Tender is not the word that comes to mind. More like warmish dishrag covered by thick batter. French fries? Frozen in a an earlier life. They might have been washed but not peeled and certainly...not inspected for rot. The Banker sized quarter pound of fresh NS Lobster; all knuckle and claw? Well it was lobster and seemed fresh enough. The accompanying side salad smothered in whatever the banker house salad was? Hard to tell if it was accidently heated or into decay. BUT? The place was packed with clients, and all appeared to be quite enjoying themselves. The young busboy, student on break from Mount Allison was extremely pleasant and kind. Our waitress was fine, if not perceptive. A two piece fish and chips was ordered and one piece was delivered half way through the meal and not touched on a separate plate. One might have thought to ask why? Lesson learned. Never return.More

A friend and I went for dinner this evening. The place was packed so we sat at the bar which turned out to be our best decision. Jennica, the bartender, on her 9th day, is a fantastic addition to the staff. Professional, engaging, light hearted!...We laughed so hard with her! Hope the next time we go back she'll be there!! The food? Yeah, it was fine.More

I reviewed this restaurant a few years ago and rated it as being the very best restaurant in Lunenburg! Returning again, I can only repeat my experience today as being equal, if not better! The scallops were local, and so fresh and prepared with an...innovative approach that surpassed anything I could have imagined. Thanks to the chef and staff!More

This restaurant is a gem and seems to be a regular place for the locals. The fish comes straight off the boat and is prepared expertly . Huge portions with fresh vegetables and delicious potatoes: the scallops and halibut were melt in your mouth. The...maple mousse is an airy and lovely finish to the meal . A big shout out to our amazing waitress Courtney for attentive and caring service. THANK YOU!More

This restaurant has been consistent in food quality and service since Adam Bower took over some years ago. I had the bean soup with the black bean burger. Both were excellent and I look forward to my next meal here.

Well... we have been going to the "Grand Banker" for 4 years off and on... the "Brunch Breakfasts" we GREAT to start... then the quality of the breakfasts as well as some 'off the menu' food items started to decline. Some things were way over-cooked......The last time we were there, I can only say, we were served on DIRTY PLATES...you could see how something had been scraped off the plate before. I sent the owner a Letter, Dec. 12th, and as yet, Dec.26th, have not received a reply?More

This place is one of our go to's, especially for the seafood. We ordered a chicken carbonara for my wife, I had the lobster roll and home chips, both meals arrived promptly. The lobster roll was ok, possibly prepared earlier in the day but reasonable...value for the money, the chips were great but did not come with the "fresh cracked pepper with a side of Propeller Pilsner cheddar & bacon dip" as advertised and ordered, only ketchup. Unfortunately the chicken meal was a wreck of tough, rubbery chicken(?) and the pasta sauce tasted a lot like the bottled stuff from the grocery aisle. She could not finish her meal and we showed the waitress how tough this old bird was was by attempting to cut it in front of her. The waitress was very nice but the kitchen needs to raise its game. Lunenburg is full of good restaurants and with Halifax only an hour away there is much better available at the same price point. We like this place and have been going there for years, sorry folks for the negative review but this was a disappointment. We had to leave for an event and hope the waitress passed our comments on to management.More

We had lunch here on August 21, 2023. We were seated outside as they were fairly crowded. Service was friendly and fast. Erik has a bowl of seafood chowder and Hell Bay fish and chips. Cheryl had the balsamic caprese risotto. The food arrived in...a good time and was well presented. The food was delicious and filling. It was a very good lunch. We certainly would eat here again.More

A fantastic option, while visiting historic Lunenburg! I have had their fish-n-chips, which were fantastic, but opted this time, for a steak. It too, was great! The sides were cooked to perfection, the steak cooked just to my liking. Excellent price point, and service which...was second to none. I’d recommend the Grand Banker to anyone visiting Lunenburg.More

Popular brewery owned bar serving tourists and locals alike. Great views of the harbour and staff that are frantic to keep you served and happy. Good fresh beers but a clear favourite for me was the Garrison Tallship IPA. Talked to many locals who were...amazing company and full of fun. Food was generously portioned, looked delicious and tasted even better. This place needs a fly zapper as it's on the seafront and the flies are persistent but otherwise it's spot on. I'd really recommended it if you're in the area and need refreshments.More

Have been in Nova Scotia for a week, trying many different seafood restaurants . Tried Grand banker for lunch. The seafood chowder and fish cakes were mainly potatoes. Very disappointing .

We had lunch here while visiting the town of Lunenburg. I had a seafood chowder and my wife ordered fish cakes. The meals were prepared and flavored excellently. It was by far the best seafood we ate in our 2 week tour of the Maritime...provinces. The server was very attentive and helpful.More

We ate indoors but there is plenty of scenic outdoor seating. Our food was delicious and served promptly. I had pan-fried haddock, asparagus and green beans, and roasted potatoes, all garnished with fried capers. I finished the meal with rum sauced bread pudding. The portions...were generous. The wine list is not extensive but there are some good local choices.More

I have been in any number of restaurants that advertise “lightly breaded haddock.” This is the only restaurant that actually delivered it. What a beautiful, fresh taste. My wife wasn’t very hungry and just ordered potato skins. Couldn’t stop eating them. Very busy at lunch.

So the main restaurant is fine, although we were seated in a (tiny) booth to the rear of the restaurant. The waitress was punctual but came back 15 minutes later having forgotten what we ordered 😳 ! We had to ask twice for the drinks...we ordered, too. We had 2 x main dishes: mine was fine (nothing special) but my wife’s salad+ was pretty much green leaves with traces of the good bits - very average. A good beer selection, but that’s where the good stopped. Better options nearby?More
