Centrally located in Lunenburg, this place has great food, great service, and very good prices. We tried a veggie pizza, chicken sandwich, and tomato soup. Yum! Highly recommend.

Excellent place for dinner and worth waiting for a table as they don‘t accept reservations which is the only downside. Food excellwnt and staff very nice!
Great spot to eat, quick service. The scallops were cooked the best I have ever had. My husband had a burger, he thought it was amazing.
Salt Shaker is open year round in Lunenburg so it is always busy. You can't make a reservation. For this reason, on December 2/22, we showed up at 5:30 p.m. yet all of the tables were taken!! However, after walking around for a few minutes,...we received a call saying that a table was ready for us. My daughter had the Vegetable Curry and I had the Scallop Linguini. There was a great deal of pasta on the plate - I would have preferred more vegetables, less carbs. I had two Corona's and my daughter had a glass of Michele Chiario. My daughter also had Chocolate Mousse for dessert. It was $85 before tip. We always enjoy coming to Salt Shaker - the staff is lovely and the food is delicious.More
Talk about being nervous about selecting a place to eat here in the magical place called Lunenburg, we’ve been lucky a few times in dartmouth Halifax and PEI, but finding a place that had everything done to perfection and beyond is almost impossible, that is...until now. I am not kidding or exaggerating. The food is better than anything I’ve had so far. I’ve given other places exceptional rating and they rightly did deserves it. As mentioned in a previous review, it is very difficult to find serviceatmosphere and food to be equally exceptional. Tara the host is the first person you will see at the front door and she is the type of host you want, aware and accommodating, if a table is not available, she will call your cell number to advise when it is ready, that gives time to check the waterfront and wander the street looking at the colourful heritage buildings. Cudos to Tara for being so awesome. After being seated, Taylor was our server, and wow. Is she ever amazing. Friendly isn’t the word to describe that much positivity and energy. We have had great service the best we’ve had was Terry in Sydney at the Dory, Taylor is right up there. She will make you laugh and make you feel all warm n fuzzy. Now the food We ordered Seafood chowder 2 Quinoa Beet Salad 1 Lobster Roll 2 Earl Grey Panna cotta 1 Seafood chowder was unbelievable. I’ve never had any soup or chowder that was as good as what they have. Spent the enter slurping satisfaction trying to figure out what the broth is. 5/5 The quinoa beet salad was super good. Everything complimenting everything 5/5 The lobster Roll was less a roll and more of a masterpiece. This quelled my fears that an exceptional lobster roll is a very rare thing, and that everybody uses hotdog buns, in the Maritimes. Not here. The roasted bread has grill marks, and that is a sign of food as art and pride in the creation of the menu item. This roll is the biggest one we’ve had anywhere in the Maritimes. The flavour, the texture, the amount of lobster left me wondering whether I should eat it or frame it. 5/5 Pana cotta Was I too full to eat a dessert? I might have been had the food been as lousy as we had lately. This was no filler food. This is Master Chef quality food and I have been playing judge. I award them the win. 5/5 The kitchen crew works like a fine-tuned instrument. The front-end feeding off the happiness of the clientele and you can see they enjoy what they do. I cannot give the salt Shaker 5/5 because they deserve a number well into the stratosphere. For flavour, presentation, service and atmosphere. In conclusion The Salt Shaker gets 17 Pink Himalayan salt grinders out of five. This will be my one and only go-to place when I return to Lunenburg. Do yourself a favour and go there. Make a reservation and sit outside on the deck on a clear night, enjoy the scenery, because you will love the foodMore
We got in for dinner just before service ended. They were so accommodating and we loved our beautiful view on the deck out back. My husband had seared scallops (the best of our trip) and I had the tasty fish cakes with the generously portioned...side salad. It was a very good meal.More
Yes I know you can sit on their patio and look out over the harbour and order very, very fresh fish for your meal but sometimes you just want something different. So we ordered their Chicken Salad Sandwich! It was to die for! Hubby and...I loved it. Service was very quick and everyone was very friendly. Their Lobster Roll also looked amazing but oh that Chicken Salad......if only they would give me the recipe!!More
Good quality food. Generous portions. Reasonably priced. Seafood and pizza available. Desserts were good.
Our first visit to Lunenburg and arrived in the morning. After a walk around this lovely town, we picked Salt Shaker based on the look of the exterior - attractive and well maintained - and TA reviews. Arrived before 12pm and got a good table...on the deck. Great quick service. The freshly made Arnold Palmer was delicious. Fish Cakes were excellent. By the time we departed, it was full with some guests waiting. Good sign!More
While on a Tauck walking tour of Lunenburg the group split up and this restaurant was recommended as one of several by the tour director. We just beat the crowd and had a table in the front where we could people watch. My wife had...the tomato parmesean soup and I had the choweder with a schooner beer. Excellent service but I can't remember her name. We were there June 17 at 12:28 pm at Table 22.More
We stayed in Lunenburg for two nights. We had dinner here the first night band enjoyed it so much, we came back to try some of the other delughts and were not disappointed. We had starters the first night and had no room for dessert...- so no starters on night 2 and managed to squeeze in some dessert. It's not a larger space and was quite crowded - possibly because the patio was out of action as it was raining heavily. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, efficient and attentive. We had steak and pasta, and a curry on the first night. The curry wsa extremely mild but very delicate. Second night was fishcakes and salmon risotto. All extremely enjoyable as were the salad starters. I wouldn't claim that it was inexpensive - we found eating out in Canada was more expensive than expected but The Salt Shaker was in the same price bracket as similar restaurants we visited. But not all the others had the excellent staff and food (and beer).More
Our Lunenburg friends who are regulars at this restaurant asked that we join them for dinner. We were so happy that we did! The menu has many great options. Various appetizers and meals. Our selections were a tuna salad, a chicken pizza, scallops and linguini....The selections didn't disappoint. The linguini is soooo good we returned a second night for it. Lots of beer choices and a great selection of wines. Servers are very engaging and attentive. Top Notch!!!More
This rrestaurant has a small patio but if you want to sit outside...go early as the Salt Shaker Deli Inn doesn't take reservations. The lobster roll on the menu is DELICIOUS!!! The server was professional, fast and efficient. This is a good option for Lunch...Cheers
Absolutely the worst food in Lunenburg. Reluctantly went here for dinner with friends - previous visits were not impressive - soggy, tasteless pizza and the most ridiculous excuse for Pad Thai made with overcooked pasta, but decided to give the place one more try. I...choose the burger - after all how can they mess up a burger??? Well they can - dry tough at least twice cooked burger on a dry, stale and tough bun. Could not cut it with a steak knife, let alone eat it. A piled mess on plate. Potato wedges were soggy and jammed in a bowl. Server did not take notice until I told her impossible to eat...taken off the bill. So I had water for dinner. Never again...More
I had the seafood stew and it was a combination I had never had before. There were many large pieces of various seafood in a tomato broth instead of a heavy cream base. The flavour was fantastic!
