The Sakebar is fun- they bang the drums to welcome and farewell you- which is a nice touch. The food is regular Japanese. Fresh and always delicious but not especially inspired. The sushi train was not well-used the evening we were there so some items looked a little dry. However, the menu food was great. The staff were friendly and... More

Wow what a night, visiting from the Gold Coast when to this restaurant first time. Welcomed by the staff the minute we walked in, friendly and very quick service. The atmosphere is just fun and happiness and the food just fantastic, I think the best Japanese restaurant I have been to. The owner even greeted us and was very attentive... More

One of the best Japanese in Auckland... Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. Staff are very attentive and friendly, the owner was very obliging and went out of his way to ensure our visit was pleasurable. Big thumbs up, highly recommended to anyone who's looking for quality Japanese food and wanting a night to remember!

No matter which Sakebar Nippon you go to, you are bound to have a good time. The minute you walk in you are greeted by the staff who bang on a big gong. The food is delicious, more of a tapas style, good for sharing. It is quite expensive for what it is, but worth it if you are not... More

We didn't try the Sake, but the food was really delicious. I enjoyed the atmosphere, it took me to Tokyo. Great place for a work meal or birthday party.

One of the most interesting places I've visited in Auckland. Fantastic decor and service. They welcome diners with a loud bang and Japanese was spoken consistently throughout the night. I thought it was great. Something extraordinary. The food was good - though I would of liked some more avocado with the salmon sushi.

We visited on a Saturday night, it was very busy, be advised you will need to book, the decor inside is great, not your boring restaurant, they have drums being banged by the chef's and lots of Japanese words being spoken around the restaurant, the night we visited it was very loud, the chef's shouting (on purpose for entertainment) at... As soon as you walked into the place you were greeted by someone banging on a drum to welcome you. You were also greeted by lots of noise and activity and welcomes. The menu was as busy as this place, lots of choices with cheap and not so cheap options which was great because it catered for all hunger types.... More
