We visited during the BC COVID 4th Wave period. They were very good with ensuring all guests had their vaccination cards and followed all of the appropriate protocols. Food was excellent ... we had the brisket.
The atmosphere was nice, nice building too. This had great potential.
Couldn’t decide what to order so we ordered their meat platter for two to try everything. Pork was awesome, by far the best part of entire meal. After that it was all downhill. The...sausage was average, chicken pretty good but under seasoned, brisket bland too, the ribs were chewy and tough. All of the side salads were woefully under dressed and under seasoned to the point it was like eating raw potatoes and vegetables. Was supposed to come with bbq beans but didn’t. Corn bread was cold.
As for service, the server never came by to check in on us, probably because we were thirsty from hiking and we just wanted a water and a coke to start with rather than alcoholic drinks. I had to flag her down to get any service for other things. It was busy, but not that busy to ignore us, especially since our table had to be passed to get to every other table!
In the end, it was a disappointing experience for what appears to be an over-hyped place. Maybe simply because there aren’t too many other options around. We honestly enjoyed the drinks and food at the nearby hotel pub better…More
My Husband had made a reservation prior to the Covid Passport and unfortunately the new rules began on Monday September 13,2021 and we had reserved for Wednesday September 15th, he had his passport with him and I did not. We were from Kamloops staying at...the Dutch Lake Resort in Clearwater. So we ordered the Platter for Two with roasted potatoes $62 to go, I waited in the car while my Husband had a beer inside, he wanted so much to eat in. They felt our plight and to our surprise gave the entire meal and his beer on the house, for free!!
We took it back to our cabin and loved the entire meal, which fed us more than once. Our favourite was the brisket, however, it was all excellent right down to the best cornbread I have ever enjoyed. Thank you so much, we will return next year.More
Haven't been to the Hop N Hog for a couple of years however it is as good as ever.
Spent two nights in Clearwater recently and had two dinners at the Hop.
First night I had my usual go to the Brisket burger and it...was as good as I remember, lots of meat and tasty toppings. My wife had the pork sliders and found them enjoyable. Only suggestion is there was too much dressing on the Caesar Salad, a minor problem.
The second night I had the chicken wings, normally I like hot wings however the lemon pepper wings had good flavour. My wife had the pulled chicken sandwich which she enjoyed. The Caesar salad at this meal was lightly sauced, with crisp lettuce and a lot of shaved parmesan cheese. The green salad though had too much dressing.
Perhaps have the dressing on the side. However, two enjoyable meals.More
After many recommendations finally made it to Hop N Hog in Clearwater. Good news first...their nachos was probably the BEST nachos I have ever had in a restaurant. The platter was more than enough food but why was the cornbread cold and why was the...bbq chicken bone dry (inedible) me thinks it was yesterdays chicken. There is no way the chicken should be bone dry when we were lined up at 5 (opening) and the first group to get our food. The baked beans were very poor, hardly any flavour and thin. Salads were tasty and service was efficient. Recommended but with reservations.More
We stayed at the Lake House B&B and they strongly recommended the Hop N Hog for dinner. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the portions are huge and the service was excellent. We enjoyed it so much that we ate there again on...our way back home.More
We have eaten at the smokehouse 3 times in the past 2 weeks. It is excellent in everyway. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is amazing even though they claim to be short staffed, and we especially liked that our dogs...could join us outside at the picnic tables. The jalapeño appy is incredible and when we returned the following night for dinner, we took home an extra order of brisket so we can try to replicate it at home. As craft beer drinkers, we absolutely appreciated the wide variety of local beer on tap. Well done to the cooks, servers, and all staff because everybody is doing a great job. We will be back for sure.More
Restaurant experiences aren't overly great in a pandemic. Restrictions, limited staff, grumpy people, etc. But you'd never know it at this place. They had plenty of business and the staff were still fast, efficient, and friendly. Especially the host at the front door - young...kid who looked barely out of elementary school but was most definitely on point. Was my first time through Clearwater, but won't be my last and I'll definitely be back to this establishment. Well done.More
We arrived just after they opened and had to wait for a bit to get a table. Atmosphere was like an old style smoke house. We ordered the meat platter for two and were not disappointed. It allows you to try a little of various...things they serve (mostly meat). Price was reasonable and we did not leave hungry. Would recommend but either reserve or get there when they open.More
