We come to Rhubarb every year when we come to the cottage. Almost a guaranteed great meal. We sat inside on the second day they were allowed to have indoor seating. The very large duck poutine is always amazing and can easily be the main meal due to the size. My rabbit (special of the day) was really tasty and tender. The only issue I had with my meal was the rabbit leg confit portion of the dish. It was dry hard and chewy. I asked the server if the rabbit leg confit was supposed to be like this and she said it was as it was smoked. I had trouble chewing it, had to get it down with my beer and didn't finished eating it. Find it hard to believe it was supposed to be like this. Would have preferred for the server to take my concerns more seriously and maybe confirm with the manager or kitchen if this was the way it was meant to be. Confit is supposed to make the tough meat more tender not dry it out and make it harder. This is not typical of this restaurant. The dessert are made in house. The butter tart cheese cake is one of the best cheese cakes I have ever had! Also, drop by the boshkung brewery at the side of the building to stock up beer for home.

Shaved vegetable salad with roasted goat cheese was creative, had freshest unique greens and lightly dressed with a great vinaigrette. The margarita duck had great sauce and variety of veggies including smashed potatoes and grilled tomatoes and the steak and frites drew best ever comments from my husband. All in all we had an amazing launch of our 50th year of marriage. We took home the wild blueberry crumble tart and a piece of the buttertart cheesecake. My husband and I feel fortunate to have such a fine dining establishment 20 km from our home

Big city flavours in our county! Rhubarb always delivers its best to those who visit. Here the food is above the usual in flavours and presentation. I have been enjoying Christoph’s meals for many years. The menu caters to all, and they always try to accommodate. I have a few favourites but my recent Lamb meal (prep by Kevin) was mmmmm heavenly. Meat was so tender, vegetables a light crunch to them, and a dessert to please. Thank you Christoph for continuing to share you culinary talents with us in Haliburton. So Good! We have dined and celebrated many times at Rhubarb and appreciate all the efforts they put forth to make the celebrations extra special, yesterday was one of the best.

We have been to Rhubarb‘s many times, and the food was always good, but yesterday was very mediocre to say the least. Escargots arrived just barely warm with burnt bread. When telling the server that the bread was rather charred, she never offered to replace it! The frites were just warm and pretty limp not crispy. Coleslaw with wild leek was tasteless, the fish just okay. The pasta dish also was just barely okay, as was the steak. For what it was it is way overpriced. The schnitzel was the only thing that passed as pretty decent.

For my 65th bday we ordered online. Substitutions were made but no one informed us ahead of time. Surprise!Pesto was replaced with a second salad..Did I need 2 salads? Portions insanely small, prices steep. Trout and Cornish Hen lovely but pricey. Focaccia bread excellent. Summer Vegetable Rice Bake had NO RICE in it. Lentil Mushroom Ragu really plain and I swear I detected pickles...weird. We had 4 entrees for 3 adults. I have been so excited to try the food here and well, I’m over it. 3 apps (2 salads and focaccia bread) 4 entrees (2 vegetarian) and 3 desserts for $177.14 excluding tip. I expect so much more. No need for a return visit.

The unassuming curb appeal hides a secret gem. Upon entering the restaurant we were thrilled with the atmosphere and relaxing views. The service was on point and the food was all delicious. We were thankful that we skipped lunch so that we had space for appetizers, mains and dessert. The wine list is extensive and the menu prices are low given the quality of the dishes and ambiance. Well done Rhubarb. We will be back soon.

Wow, where do I begin. During these current times we had a reservation and were seated right away. We dined this past Friday evening as a family of five. We found the beer and wine selection to be way above par. The food was delicious. Two in our group had the Trout, two had the Pork Schnitzel and one had a perfectly cooked steak. Not one bad thing to say. Now on to desert.... that bread pudding was out of this world as was the German walnut cake. Our server for the evening was Victoria. Excellent job! Very friendly and didn't mind our questions at all. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend.

Unfortunately, we've been disappointed the last two times we had lunch at Rhubarb's (been there many times over the years). At our last visit, both my husband and I ordered the seafood crepes which were on that Sunday brunch menu - sorry to say that the meal was not great. The seafood was quite tasteless and dry, there was no sauce of any kind, and, curiously, the shrimp that were inside the crepes still had tails on them - we thought that was very weird them being inside mixed with the tiny scallops and some crab meat. The previous visit, we had pickerel and chips and the fish came in a few small pieces - have never had fish and chips like it, there wasn't much of it. We've always been happy to eat at Rhubarb before but it just doesn't seem up to the usual standards any more.

I was pleasantly surprised by the yellow beet salad. The beets had been marinaded in a delicious sauce first, then added to the plate of salad. It was so fresh and unusual. I loved it! The fish was mist and delicate. So very good!

We’ve been past a couple of times and tonight dropped in. Very disappointing, menu looked and read well, my husband and I ordered the chicken pot pie $24, my son ordered the burger $22 and asked for fries as he can’t eat salad due to allergies. The pot pie arrived, very sad looking with a very basic salad of leaves, certainly not worth $24, the burger arrived with salad, with apologies they went off and got a bowl of over cooked thin fries leaving the salad on his plate. Would not eat here again, bill was $112!

Rhubarb is a little gem in cottage country. We were searching for a nice restaurant in the area to celebrate a birthday occasion. We also all like good food with local ingredients and / or unusual recipes. When you walk into the restaurant there is a lovely view overlooking the lake in the back. The restaurant furnishings are modern. There is a screened patio option at the front of the restaurant. We shared an appetizer, duck poutine which was ver tasty and large. A good choice if you are hungry. Other menu items eaten were the peach/blueberry/goat cheese salad- good appetizer with local fruit, the trout BLT - very large size with fries and salad, the falafel cauliflower bowl which was a hit with everyone at the table (good for vegetarians), and the pork schnitzel. The portions were good sizes or large. All of the food was tasty. Service was excellent. It is, however, expensive for the area. We paid $150 for four dishes and a shared appetizer including tax and tip. Yet, I see this translated in the quality of the food and surroundings. It is worth a stop if you like good food.

The room was pleasant enough and the service was friendly and professional. But dinner—steak frites—was a disappointment. The steak was overcooked, gristly and rather tasteless. The frites had an odd flavour. My latte was lukewarm. I'd suggest trying something else on the menu.

We were staying at Sir Sam's Inn on Eagle Lake. The food was so bad that we ventured out to find somewhere to get a decent meal. Very happy to have found this place. We didn't have a reservation, but they gave us a table that was reserved for a little later so we had time to eat comfortably and leave before the reservation time - otherwise they were fully booked. Food was delicious, service was friendly and prompt and the ambience and restaurant were very pleasant with views over the water.

Booked a reservation for my husband & I and friends that were up visiting us at the lake. Friends have never been before. Everyone absolutely LOVED their meals. In particular, my husband and I loved our vegan offerings. We enjoyed the Gazpacho soup with foccacia as a starter. Our meals were fantastic. (Vegan linguini dish with fried eggplant, Vegan beef tenderloin). The beef tenderloin was off the charts amazing! I actually wondered if they erred and gave me a non vegan dish. The tenderloin was so moist and perfectly charred on the outside. It came with their frites but I asked for a salad instead which they happily obliged. Best vegan dining experience I’ve had lately. The service was excellent…just the right amount of wait time so that our experience was leisurely without super long waits. Great atmosphere. There is a cute brewery attached that has great outdoor seating overlooking the lake where you can order a drink while you wait for your table. There is also a wonderful little market at the front of the restaurant where they sell food items, local beer and some Rhubarb swag. Must pick up their homemade foccacia. It will not disappoint. Would highly recommend a night out here.

Went here for a mid-afternoon lunch. Nice menu with mid-range pricing and a nice view of Mirror Lake. Server was very attentive. Brews are also available from it's in-house brewery located on the lower level. Reservations were not needed, but it's suggested to call ahead for hours during the pandemic.
