I was out at the Cabin Restaurant for my uncles birthday with family. It’s a pretty rustic place, some will say even unhygienic.
I ordered the short ribs and they looked fine but on my second bite of potatoes I found a 1cm in diameter...black rock. It was very embarrassing to pull a large stone out of your mouth as I didn’t quite know how to handle the situation. I didn’t want to ruin my uncles night.
I did immediately call the server of and showed her the rock and she took the rock and took my plate and it was replaced. I wasn’t offered something else, or even if I was still hungry. The server said it was a piece of charcoal that was used in cooking. I can assure you that it was not, it was a rock. I also didn’t see the chief that I presumed was told. Actually nothing further happened. It was as it never happened. I paid full pop for my meal and we left.
I don’t right reviews but I did feel compelled to warn others if this dangerous situation that was completely handled poorly.
I will not be back.
P.s. I did leave a similar review on the Cabin Restaurant Facebook page that has since been removed.More
We stopped here for lunch and the fish tacos were great, as was the cauliflower appy.
The server was friendly but it was a negative to watch her go outside, pet a dog for a while, and come back in and handle glasses, dishes, and...deliver our food without washing her hands.
There was no mistake on this as she was within view at all times. The pandemic has created sanitization issues and requirements for restaurants and, while this error wasn’t directly related to that, if they don’t enforce hand washing for one thing, they won’t for another.
It is a funky setting but not any outdoor space for eating.
Hopefully the owner will read this and speak to the young lady about being more visibly attentive to hygiene when dealing with food.More
The Cabin is a family favourite! Hard to make a choice but we love the cauliflower wings, the beef short ribs, the halibut, the lobster ravioli. The Cabin serves the BEST mussels in the Lower Mainland!
The place is decored like an old lodge one might see in the far north-skis,snowshoes, old wooden tables.
FYI- the bathroom is very poorly lit
I ordered the fish and chips -which came quickly. Coleslaw, ate a bit of it but it was very disappointing....The fish was supposed to be halibut but I couldn't taste it- could have been cod. The fries were almost shoestring and I never finished them.
Also- they don't have straws.
You couldn't tell the food from say a White Spot Express fish and chips and this. Quite underwhelmingMore
I had heard this was a great place to eat. Definitely not a fancy place, but still nice. Food was good, but very mediocre for the price. For the price many restaurants around here include presentation and uniqueness. It was good, but very simple. Rice...came with most the fish meals, but it was flavorless. Once was enough for me.More
Special was Steelhead, halibut and scallops in with pasta in a cream sauce and it was delicious. We all ordered the same and shared the double dessert with cheesecake and peanut butter pie. Cheesecake was your standard with strawberry topping but Peanut Butter Pie was...heavenly, not too sweet and delicious..More
We have dined here many times, in the time that takeout only was offered, we still support them.
The food remained the high quality we are used to. The service, the kindness will always keep me a faithful diner. Thank you.
During the current pandemic, we are trying to help the local restaurants by ordering regularly. On Saturday, it was the Cabin’s turn. Easy access to the menu online and simple phone link. They are open from 4:00 to 8:00 for pickups. Ordered at 4:00 -...phone was answered very pleasantly and efficiently. Food ordered for 5:30 pickup. Arrived on-time and the order was just being completed. Again, very friendly staff. We tried the halibut fish and chips, cabin salad and the short ribs - all were excellent. Regular menu prices are very reasonable and the 20% pandemic discount brought the bill to $50 plus tip. Crazy good. Definitely worth supporting this restaurant. I don’t give 5 stars often but they deserved it today.More
