3 of us went, we all had the Chateau special, the prawns were tasty, the caesar salad was made right in front of you, a bit too much olive oil for our liking , but was a good experience ,the AAA Filet Tenderloin flambéed ,...looks like it is quick fired in the kitchen then cooked to liking at table ( a cart is rolled out to your table that has a gas stove), this is where things went down hill, the cart ran out of gas, our meat was not cooked to our liking, a bit too rare for us, we all had lobster they were not cooked enough, still slimy under cooked, the desert, was tart ,More

We went to Old Surrey last night to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary that was on Friday. We arrived promptly at 730 for our time slot. Staff were welcoming and apologized stating it would be a 5 to 10 minute wait for a couple tables...to clear. You can see they were handing some tables bills etc but we ended up standing around to wait to be seated for 30 minutes. Not a huge deal. I was expecting a little wait and knew it was out of the hands of the staff. They can’t exactly kick you out. Staff were apologetic and was on top of serving us drinks and going over the menu which I politely stated there was no need to go over menu as we knew what we were having. We ordered the Chateau special. It was a lovely experience with table side food prep being done. Pretty much ensured items were hot when they needed to be and cold items were nice and cold. The lettuce for the Cesar salad and the sugar snap peas for dinner were nice and fresh looking and had the fresh crisp crunch when biting in. The small improvements were the lack of attention when it came to beverage refills. The staff for water were great but when it came to wanting more Martinis I had to ask our waiter that was doing the main entree for it as I had been waiting approximately 10min for the other waiter to come by, he then told the other guy. Then the next time I wanted another drink I had to make eye contact and wave my empty martini glass to get the next one. My husband had to use the washroom and that someone seemed to have staff off their routine or something as when he was finally done eating, our table was cleared promptly and staff kept looking in our general direction but we waited and waited for our dessert ( part of the chateau special was table side cherry jubilee). We waited from 930 to 10p by the time our drink waiter ended up coming to our table to do our dessert. No offer of after dinner drinks, but why would they when they were cleaning up to close for the night. We were the literally the last of the customers. It was nice we weren’t rushed to actually leave when finally getting our dessert but disappointed at the same time as I felt like we had to rush dessert being the last people and staff cleaning up. So the small improvements would be that staff need to be on top of beverages (check for empty glasses like you do with the water glasses) and don’t negligent customers for 30 minutes before allowing your beverage/table clearer to do dessert because your main staff that do it have either gone or just not bothered anymore. Other than those it was a wonderful experience. A little add though, please add some flavour to your mash potatoes croquettes, sadly those were bland and I could taste the flour. We would still dine at Old Surrey again though. We didn’t end up leaving until 1030p ( so 3hrs there with an hour of literally waiting included, dining experience at a nice pace would have been 2hrs).More
beautiful friday evening dining in at old surrey restaurant...michael and phil very cordial and prompt...enjoyed all our flambes....shrimp and parmesan risotto yummy!a treat to have our caesar salad prepared before our hungry eyes...overall a very lovely dining experience!
My wife and I have been going to Old Surrey for over 30 years. Always
great food and service but recently the price for a bottle of beer is
$10.00 a bottle for domestic beer. I enjoy a beer for dinner maybe 2
as there...is no rush at restaurant but a charge of $10.00 seems like
price gouging. I pay maybe $2.00 a beer at the Liquor store with
deposit and the Old Surrey pays far less than this. WHY are you
charging $10.00 a bottle?More
There are so many reasons to celebrate this restaurant! They have been at this location for 46 years, Spiro, the best server ever, has been giving his customers excellent service for over 30 years, and the quality of each dish presented is consistently excellent. Really,...if you have not tried this restaurant yet what are you waiting for? It is fine dining and we all deserve to experience this.
On Saturday we celebrated my birthday with family members. We asked for Spiro’s section and as usual Spiro gave us excellent service. We all ordered the four course meal which is an excellent choice: crab cakes to start, Caesar salad prepared at the table, steak and lobster (removed from the shell), and homemade nitro ice cream prepared table side.
We love the Old Surrey! You will too!
We went there the day before Valentines to get away from the crazy. It was a pretty slow Thursday for them. We had the 4 course special meal, the food was very good. The service was nice, a few different servers helped us.
All in...all a positive fine dining experience in Surrey.More
