Paid nearly $50 for sea bass and found it probably was past its due date and was definitely over cooked. Quite disappointed given the price. On the upside the service was first rate

It had been a decade plus since we had been here, but a recent date night had us go back again. Good atmosphere on a busy Saturday night. We were in the main dining room - it’s staggered in height meaning there are lots of table to get a view. Our server was personable, friendly and helpful. He steered us to a wonderful French Chablis that was delicious and a perfect match. For dinner I had the aburi sushi - a surprisingly generous portion that was delicious. My main was simply excellent- the miso sablefish - with delicious veg and crispy tofu - this dish I would order again and again. All in all I’d say a really nice meal. Will be nice to be back when the weather improves for some patio time!!

Nicely heated enclosed patio. The service was very good. We started with the biscuits with honeycomb butter - very yummy - followed by the dockside burger, catch of the day and chirashi poke bowl. All of them very good. A bit expensive but worth it.

I ordered braised short rib pappardelle, and it turned out to be excessively greasy, with an abundance of sundried tomatoes and only one minuscule piece of rib. However, the pasta and mushrooms were good. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The server rarely attended to our table, neglecting to ask about our needs or refill our glasses with drinks. I would not consider returning to this restaurant.

The Jumbo Crab Benedictine was a flop. Vinegar was the main flavour. Did not taste crab since there was almost none. The view was nice but hidden by the extra patio. Reserved for 11 am not knowing that happy hour pricing is quite a bit cheaper (happy hour ends at 11 am). Over all, a rip off.

This used to be a reliable if not very good restaurant. I was there the other night and had the Tuna Poke bowl. The mango was thawed frozen and mushy, the tuna tasted off. Save you money - go elsewhere unless you just want a drink . The atmosphere is fantastic but does not make up for the meal I could not eat. Very disappointed.

Hello Colleen, Thank you for taking the time to rate your recent experience at Beach House. I am so sorry to hear about your disappointing visit, particularly with the Chirashi Poke bowl you received. I would very much appreciate hearing more details about what fell short of your expectations, as this will help identify areas that we need to improve. Please feel free to email me directly at hannah.verbrugge@thebeachhouserestaurant.ca. I value your feedback and would welcome the opportunity to make things right! Kind regards, Hannah Verbrugge Restaurant Manager

Poor experience at the Beach House. I was disgusted by the weird behavior of the manager, apparently named Vincent, on February 4. I was enjoying my meal, but I noticed this manager, who looked like a used car salesman, slinking about, and appearing to be spying on clients, including me. He then approached a table where three polite and quiet patrons were finishing their meal. This strange manager then abruptly gave a sanctimonious lecture to them about fraternizing and exchanging phone numbers with a lovely table attendant who appeared very genuine and polite. He was harassing the table as well as disturbing nearby patrons. He then had the audacity to ask for the name associated with the phone number of one of the patrons. He was rightly rebuffed and put in his place. Further, he seemed to have no problems with another blond waitress who was openly hugging other patrons and not acting very professional. The hypocrisy was stunning and unacceptable. His embarrassing and abhorrent behavior made me lose my appetite. I had thought that the restaurant was supposed to be upscale, but my dining experience was ruined. The restaurant would do well to dismiss this manager and treat clients with respect. I am not going to spend my money in an establishment that allows an employee to display such arrogant, obnoxious, absurd, and unacceptable behavior. Vincent’s abrupt behavior with customers, as well as intimidating employees is out of place. Most likely they are spying and listening to people’s conversations. The three people left immediately after Vincent’s unprofessional and bizarre behavior. I didn’t hang around very long either. The food is overpriced, and my meal was lukewarm, not hot. There are much better places to go to. Furthermore, this establishment should not be requesting client names and phone numbers that are private confidential and quite frankly none of their business.

Went for lunch. The setting on the deck next to the seawall and the beach is great. The support staff was great as well. We ordered the Beach House Caesar salad with salmon. The price was high at $28.75 and we expected a great salad. Big disappointment. The salad dressing was bland with no flavour. The lettuce appeared to be chopped up iceberg lettuce and not romaine. The “ salmon” wasn’t salmon; turned out to be farmed trout. The waiter admitted that it was trout and not salmon. I said that this was false advertising. He laughed. The Beach House used to have great food at reasonable prices. Now the food is disappointing and the prices are gouging the customer. Enough! We have given up on the Beach House. Too bad

The menu was limited and uninspiring, lacking the fun choices of bygone days. Even the specials seemed to be minor variations on the regular items. Worst of all was the poor service. Our server took forever to take our orders and forgot our wine until our meals were delivered. The food was fine. The views were lovely. However, the terrible service threw us all off. Had we been looked after professionally, we would have ordered more and stayed later. The Beach House let us down.

...that you can have a great view or good food/service but not both. We haven’t been in since the recent renovation and it’s quite lovely inside (the view of the beach is killer) but some things don’t change when you renovate - neither the food nor the service continue to match the location. Waiter service was definitely only fast food restaurant quality, little attention to small details like providing cutlery. And I understand you have to rely on young wait staff, but surely you can train your staff to address older guests as sir or ma’am, rather than “you guys” or “my friend”. The food was equally amateur, trying to be grownup and hip but just not making it - offering charred broccoli shouldn’t mean it’s blackened but otherwise raw, and what was that corn hash-like substance that was half the plate on my wife’s salmon? Perhaps it should have been a clue when it was barely touched. And these could be the most expensive glasses of wine in a city used to expensive drinks. Not much value for a $120+ dinner for two and not a repeat.

We live in West Van and yesterday our family - the three of us - came to the Beach House for dinner. I booked a table on the phone a week ago (well in advance), explained the occasion (it was a birthday) and specified that we would like to be on the terrace and have a view, which I was promised. We were really looking forward to that evening. However upon arrival we were offered a booth close to the kitchen... When I mentioned that we booked a table on the terrace, we were told that the terrace was full and advised to sit in the booth, wait and have a drink. For how long? Nobody knows. Since we were quite hungry, we ordered food and had to put up with the noisy environment and no view. The food was good, but the appetite was gone (mine at least) and the mood ruined. It was not the birthday dinner we expected. Disappointing experience...

My husband and I went to The Beach House Restaurant for a Very Special Birthday Celebration. We were seated at a lovely table with views of the beach. Our Server, Sara gave a Wonderful Birthday Card to him. Other personal came to express their Birthday Wishes to him, which made this a very special memory for him. Sara was very attentive to our dinner requests but also gave us time to enjoy the experience. The food was great and the experience exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

What a waste of prime West Vancouver real estate. I have never been so horrified with a dining experience as I was this evening. Your hosts were incredibly hostile and rude towards my husband trying to insist that we didn’t have a reservation despite him showing the OpenTable confirmation on his phone. We were scoffed at and quite literally had one of your hosts roll her eyes. We requested a manager to which a young man named Max came by and low and behold found our reservation. I will say, Max was okay. However we received no apology from your host team and were glared at once your manager found their mistake. Highly unprofessional and I recommend maybe not hiring immature children to be your guests first point of contact when you are charging fine dining prices. Just ridiculous. Once we got to our table we were situated near a group who were incredibly loud and obnoxious and took away from our whole experience. Food was way to expensive for the low end quality food that was served. I was so embarrassed that I even took guests here after the food that was served. Lobster roll had no lobster in it, all prawn and barely a tablespoon at that. Salmon was dry and over cooked, and sablefish tasted incredibly “fishy” almost like it was on its way out. We also had a seafood tower to share at the start of our meal and didn’t much care for that either. Overall we felt that you were trying to put on a show, or illusion if you will of high quality dishes but when you peaked under the curtain you could see it for what it was; low quality food with no flair. Our service was slow and we went without water for near 20 minutes. Cocktails tasted watery and overall we were simply not impressed. The renovation is okay, however the decor comes across cheap and even at half capacity the restaurant is still so loud you can barely hear your own table. There’s so much talk around town about how this place has gone downhill since reopening so I highly suggest making some changes. Needless to say, we won’t be returning until there’s some new management.

Hi Halima, My name is Max Parker and I am the Night Manager here at Beach House. I am incredibly sorry and extremely embarrassed by the experience that you described last night. To start, I am so sorry that our host team was hostile and rude. That is absolutely not how we want our guests to feel upon entering our restaurant. As well, I am sorry that you felt that they were even more hostile upon me figuring out their error with not being able to find the reservation. I will be speaking with each host that was on last night so that I can share with them the way that they made you and your husband feel so that they do not ever make that mistake again. Furthermore, I am also sorry that you felt that the food completely missed the mark. There is no excuse for an under portioned lobster roll, overcooked salmon and fishy sea bass. Here at Beach House we take great pride in serving high quality dishes so to hear that your meals fell flat is very upsetting. I will make sure to share this information with my Head Chef and Sous Chefs so that they can impact the areas where we so clearly missed with you and your husband last night. On top of that I will also be sharing this review with our service staff and bartenders so that we can coach them to the level of hospitality and quality that we expect at our restaurant. No one should have to wait 20 minutes to be greeted and no one should have to have watered down cocktails. I will make sure to speak with my bartenders that were on last night to ensure that they are following specs for drinks and making them properly. I honestly cannot apologize enough for this horrible dining experience and I sincerely want to try and earn you and your husbands trust back. I would love to hear anymore details you had about your experience and also come up with a solution that works best for you so that we can rectify what happened last night. If this is something that you would like to do feel free to reach out to me anytime at max.parker@thebeachhouserestaurant.ca so we can discuss further. I look forward to hearing from you Thanks, Max Parker - Night Manager

Before a short walk along the beach on a Friday in Dundarave, West Vancouver we went to lunch at one of our favourite spots, the Beach House restaurant. We were surprised how quiet it was in the restaurant. We both had the prawn & scallop Spaghettini. We have had it before and represents great comfort food. To accompany lunch we decided to have some upscale wine ordering glasses of Burrowing Owl Pinot Gris. It was a wonderful lunch again this visit. We skipped dessert prior to our walk along the ocean front walkway.

After a short walk along the West Vancouver Centennial Seawalk in the Dundarave area we headed into the Beach House restaurant for a decadent lunch. We had no reservations but it was well after 1 PM and we were seated at a nice window table on the inside. The place was quite busy still and they had two patios going, both of which were well populated. We both had the scallops & prawns spaghettini at $26 per serving. The meal was scrumptiously delicious because of a great sauce and the scallops were cooked to perfection. Later we learned this was the favourite dish for patrons of the restaurant and we understand why. Service by Alicia was very pleasant and efficient. The view and ambience of the location are fantastic. While the meal was quite expensive, it was expected and the total experience is worth it. As we left sometime after 2 PM, there was a lineup at the door so obviously the place is very popular. The last time we were here was probably 10 to 15 years ago for what I remember was an early festive dinner in Christmas week. I remember it as quiet and delicious. We will have to visit again next time we are in Vancouver.
