We are relatively local to The Castle Inn and have sadly seen a significant decline in the food over the past couple of years. On our most recent visit, we were seated at a really pokey table at the rear of the pub with church...More

We've been going to the castle for over 20 years. Lovely cosy old style inn. Changed before Christmas to "create a larger bar area". Had to wait at bar until everyone had been served to say we had a table booked. Eventually got taken to...More

Very welcoming and helpful staff, really enjoyed our lunch and will return to try the main menu which looked very appealing and the dishes we saw being served were very tempting. Fascinating history to the building told to us by Matt the Manager. If you...More

Cosy pub, friendly and attentive staff, plenty of parking, lots of room. No problem having a bigger table (given most pubs try to fit pairs of people around a table barely big enough to put a beer glass on). The food was delightful, too. A...More

The wrong night to go to a CAMRA listed pub when you are drinking. Still, the lime and soda was lime and soda however the food was excellent. Real fires and a really nice feel to the place. A bit of a find and I...More

Pub was recommended so we met friends as a mid point venue. Delightful, half timbered country pub next to the bowls green. Friendly service, burger is the signature dish but we had an excellent steak pie of the day and fish. Best pie I've had...More

The pub is actually owned by the church opposite and they employ a team to run it for them. I understand - as has been said - the the current people have been there for a year or two.
