Ukee Scoops on Ucluelet’s main commercial street, Peninsula, reopened on May 24th, well in time for warmer times, a time in which cool ice-cream becomes ever more enticing.
I had been looking out for its annual reopening & swooped in for a scoop the following day, which was a Saturday. As one expects, weekends are usually busier at ice-cream shops, & there was a steady hum of people coming in. With summer visitors soon to arrive in large numbers in this ocean village locals refer affectionately to as Ukee, it is bound to soon become far busier.
The owner was, as she always is, friendly, & happy to take the time to review the differences between gelato, ice-cream & sorbet, all of which are on offer, & in a wide selection of flavors.
I decided on pistachio gelato in a regular cone, & it costs 6$. The choices for holding the scoops are regular cone, waffle cone or containers.
Ukee Scoops also serves crepes, both sweet & savory. It also offers others eats.
It has a place to sit outside & this I did while I ate my gelato, chatting to two cyclists, who had bicycled in from the other west coast ocean village of Tofino, 26 miles north of Ukee, who were also enjoying their refreshing coolness out of containers.
Next time I come for a scoop, it is likely I may be part of a line up of people wishing to get a cool treat.

Ukee Scoops closes on October 11 & will not open again until the holiday weekend in May 2025.
It will be missed.
It serves more than gelato, icecream & sorbet. Its crepes are also a fav with locals & visitors alike, as are its cold treats.
It hours are 12noon til 5pm in
October but in the summer months it stays open till 8pm.

Ukee Scoops’ delicious ice treats have many a person in this ocean village of Ucluelet on Canada’s west coast walking the streets with an ice treat clasped in hand & with a smile on their lips, as they lick on their flavor pick, be it gelato, icecream or sorbet.
This is especially the case now summer is here & the sun is out.
Ukee Scoops serves more than ice treats. One can get lunch, snacks & dinner. It is open from 12 pm to 8 pm. One of its popular offerings is its crepes, which are both sweet & savory. Ice treats are in the 5 to 6$ range.
Service is great —-friendly & knowledgeable under the helm of Ukee Scoops’ owner, Carolyn, who also embodies these same qualities.

Amazing place for freshly made crepes both sweet and savory and I was absolutely delighted to find gluten free crepes here along with cappuccino made with almond milk. Service is fabulous and the owners (a mother daughter team) were very kind and friendly. Must visit when you come to Ucelet!!

We had ice cream here two days in a row (only on vacation, right?) and it was delicious! Favorite flavors were espresso flakes and maple walnut and the waffle cone is a must! Very friendly service!

Come July my mind turns to thoughts of licking luscious ice-cream in a cone, something that has become ever more in my thoughts since my grandson was born nine years ago in this month.
Today on a sunny and warm mid-July day, I was so overwhelmed with thoughts of my two grandchildren tucking into ice-cream, that I felt I had to get this cooling treat into their hands one way or another.
The solution?
Send them money so they can buy an ice cream as soon as they will be allowed to pop in at the neighborhood ice-cream palour, as we used to say in the old country and perhaps a generational time ago.
Lucky for them they live fairly close to Ukee Scoops, located in Ucluelet, on Peninsula, the ocean village’s main commercial road.
The owner, Carolyn, is warm and friendly and her prices are reasonable and the quality of her ice-cream high.
She also serves crepes, both sweet and savory until 4pm each day.
Ukee Scoops is open from 10 am to 8pm.
Waffles are freshly made and a waffle cone with one scoop of ice-cream is 5$.
Ukee Scoops also makes ice-cream sandwiches, which cost 5:25$. The ice-cream sandwiches are pre-made and each day there is a selection of flavours to choose from.
As our family lucky number is 12, as my granddaughter was born on 12/12 and my son and daughter-in-law were born just after noon at 12:12, I sent 12$ interestingly configured and with the aim, too, of arithmetically challenging them with two 5$ Canadian and two 1US $ each.
So an ice-cream budget of 6:25 Canadian each. That seemed right.
I hope to soon see two blissful beings licking their cool treats,

Best vegan burrito I've ever eaten. We were able to eat it outside in the sun. The server was a pleasure.

Discovered on the very first day, we came back over and over during all our stay in Ucluelet. Tried everything - all-day breakfast, salmon crepes, sweet ones, various ice cream, special coffee - enjoyed every bite and the service which made our day!

If you like crepes, you will love Ukee Scoops. Salty or Sweet, they are just excellent. Some of the best I have eaten. Don’t miss out on the homemade lemonade as well.

If you were sitting near us at Ukee Scoops, you might have heard one of us declare her gluten-free buckwheat crĂŞpe, stuffed with Nutella, to be "the best thing in the world!!" If you need a GF option and your breakfast tastes tend toward made-to-order crĂŞpes and fresh, hot coffee, Ukee Scoops has you covered.

Offering gluten free meal alternatives is important to us at Ukee Scoops. We were thrilled to hear that you were thrilled with the quality of the buckwheat crepes. See you again I hope!
