Thaytea on Peninsula, Ucluelet, is heralded for its curry dishes, which it serves every Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
The types of curry vary but they are all delicious, & a fav choice for lunch for many of the Ukee locals. They are 14$ plus @ considered good value.
Ukee is what the locals affectionately refer to the ocean village they live in as, which is spectacular & located on the Wild West of Canada & Vancouver Island.
I have been debating about which eating spots in Ukee serve the best of what.
So the best curry, best fish & chips, best brisket & cornbread, most interesting menu, best views etc.
Many believe Thaytea offers the best curry & at a good price point. Others contenders are the Barkley Cafe which also serves curry a few times a week.
The brewery has just included a curry in its new menu so it is another contender for the title of Ukee’s best curry,
Curry is mostly easy to make & much depends on the quality of the ingredients sourced. And price, of course.
The Coop also does a curry for self serve at good low prices of around circa 6$ a bowl for take out or to eat there.
Of course curry lovers like myself like pairing jt with a beer. Some of those who sell curry in Ukee do it for sit in where beer can also be purchased.
Thaytea also has a lot of customers who come in for its nice wider selection of teas, & many others for bubble tea, which is growing in popularity around the world & in Ukee, of course.
It also has a lots of tea accessories for sale, as well as baked goods.
It is a great store & offers good service.
It also has some nice posters of quotes by celebrity tea lovers such as Mick Jagger.

Thay Tea, located on Ucluelet’s main commercial road of Peninsula, offers far, far more than the wonderful wide selection of teas & accessories which it does, as its name implies.
Delicous curries is one such thing. Soups & interesting biscuits & tasty pastries are others.
It also offers bubble tea, a distinct tea drink, which originated in Taiwan is the 1980s, since becoming a popular drink taste exported around the world, especially popular with the younger demographic.
This is the case here, too, in Ucluelet & the school crowd can often be seen at Thay Tea, relishing these tea- based tapioca ice drinks. Certainly a treat.
Ukee, as Ucluelet is affectionally know as to locals, has a good many places offering great coffee, such as the wonderful Foggy Bean just up from Thay Tea, also on Peninsula — which is also a coffee bean roaster & supplies to other coffee places in Ukee & surrounds. But finding good tea in Ukee is more difficult.
Thay Tea is the place to go, if you are a life long-long tea lover like me, who learnt to love tea at my grandmother’s knee, or indeed also if you are a more recent convert to this very British drink. Tea of various kinds is also, of course, widely drunk in India, China & Japan, indeed many parts of Asia & parts of Africa. As well it is popular in the English-speaking ex Brit colonies of Australia & New Zealand.
France, too, is known for its fine tea houses.
North America is more coffee drinking but fine tea consumption is catching on more.
Lucky Ukee to have Thay Tea in the hood. Another tea drink I have loved since young is Chai. Thay Tea also offers it, as well as Rooibos, the South African tea, which is gaining in popularity across the globe.
Service is good & it ships its range of teas of most varieties across North America.
As we would say in the old country: “Fancy a Cuppa”. If so Thay Tea is the place to go.

Thay Tea, located on Peninsula,
Ucluelet’s main commercial street, is both a surprise & always a delight.
The surprise is the wide selection of teas
for a small ocean village.
I went in to select from some delicious teas; one to have here & one to ship to Arizona.
It ships all over NA.
Both teas are delicious.
I bought Hedge Hog @ 8$ for 50 g,& organized Chocolate Mint Rooibos to ship.
The delight comes from the helpful service.
Emma was there at the tea bar to guide me through its wonderful selection.Thank you.
It also serves soup made from scratch. Also curry & many pastry choices.

I placed an online order from ThayTea over a month ago in which my credit card was charged , and to date I have received nothing. I have called and emailed to get the status of my order and have been ignored.
Do not order anything online from this business. It is a scam.

ThayTea (TT) Offers THE most amazing selection of teas in THE most amazing combinations of flavors one could imagine.
And this it does from an ocean village with a full- time residency of only circa 2,000. One thinks Paris, London, New York & other large cities, which have big populations to support such an interesting & wide selection, when one steps in to look around or one searches online for what teas are on offer.
TT, which stocks black, green, herbal, Rooibos & other magical combinations of super brews in its wonderful tea bar & tea shop, is located in Canada’ Wild West coast village of Ucluelet, known affectionately to locals as Ukee. Its location in this restorative place is perfect. It offers teas online, as well, which could be a reason it is able to sustain this marvelous array of teas. It ships within Canada & the U.S. Eats are also available.
The teas come in various packages — 50 or 100 g. My favs are Golden Chai Organic; Coconut Matcha & Chocolate Mint Rooibos.
Prices range with size & type from 7 $ plus to the 20s$. It has teas from India, Sri Lanka Japan & Kenya.

We were very surprised to find such an extensive selection of teas in such a small town. I don't drink tea but my wife tells me the selection was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The muffins and scones were very good.

The organic teas and tea latte were awesome. In fact so good that we had to purchase loose tea for home. Good news is they also do mail order so I never have to be without.

It seemed to annoy the person working that we were ordering anything, even though it was not close to closing time. Not friendly service at all.

Walked into the store not realizing they had been closed for a half hour and the woman working not only took my order but offered to heat it up for me before I left. We had a lovely chat while I waited for my food- this is a great place, with delicious food/beverage and even better people.

Modern design tea store with an extensive selection of green, black, rooibos, and herbal teas. They also do mail order. Service could be a little friendlier.

Even though I live out of town now, this is still my favourite place to hang when I come to Ucluelet. Mary Ellen blends the most amazing concotions to tantalize your tastebuds and soothe your senses, while providing exceptional, friendly service at the same time. The shop has such a large tea collection to meet everyones needs. I highly recommend this tea shop to anyone coming to Ucluelet.

Great place to come and hang out with your tea, or tea creation! The Tea Milkshakes are so good! Best Cheese Biscuits as well :)
They have a wide variety of teas that you can buy, and also most any tea accessory that you may need!
