We stopped here on a rainy night. We sat in doors even though there were heaters outside and people were enjoying themselves on the patio.
The selection on the menu was wonderful and the group of four of us all had different items.
The flavours were great and the service was top notch. We all shared the tastes and made sure our delight was known. The owner (chef) came out and acknowledged our complements which is uncommon. We sure appreciated his humble greeting! Would definitely come again. Small community businesses like this deserve to be patronized! Please give it a try! Worth a visit.

How intelligent!
The restaurant doesn‘t accept reservations in advance (this makes absoluely sense, because a lot of tourists have only a short stay here and mostly no Canadian sim card). Please keep that status, cause reservation time costs money additionally! But at about 7 pm the capacity was filled for that evening.
Now to the impressions:
We got a nice indoor window table (thanks once more!).
The orderd seafood chowder was ok, but the seafood pasta, we had afterwards, was phantastic! They didn‘t save money due to the ingredients and the taste was perfect, I strongly recommend the Cabernet Sauvignon, my wife had: though red wine it fitted perfectly!
My personal highlight there was the service level, performed by Tiara: what a sunshine! Busy, busy , busy like a helicopter on it‘s work, but always shining, customer oriented, quick, and (sorry 😉) perfectly shaped!
I couldn‘t recommend the floathouse more!

Enjoyed the goat cheese salad with snapper. The ingredients were fresh, the goat cheese was the best part of the salad and gave it lots of flavour. The service was excellent. You can sit on the patio in all weather conditions. They offer blankets and there is outside heaters.

I was so excited to try the jalapeno blue cheese burger!! But every time we stopped to see if it was open during it's posted hours (on the website, on google, and on their sign) it was never open. I get that it is off season, but if you are planning to close over the holidays please update your hours somewhere... anywhere! :(

This restaurant has a lot of outdoor seating but very little inside. This place like many other in Ucluelet and the Tofino area don't seem to realize that the majority of their open season is during colder temps! There is nothing enjoyable about eating outside in the cold as your food goes from hot to cold in a matter of minutes. The food was mediocre. On a positive note, the staff was VERY friendly and but unfortunately, run off their feet.

there is a reason why we are only open for 6 months of the year ! This spring and early summer was the coldest and most moisture in over 12 years ! Hence the name of Floathouse Patio & Grill , our seating is mainly outdoors . We cant control Mother Nature ! but we do offer heaters and blankets on cooler nights.
We get complimented all the time on our food , but maybe not your style of eating out .Lastly our serving staff are Awesome , they love to be busy , rather than being bored with extra staff. Hope you had a Great time in Ukee

If you are looking for a neat experience, this resto is it. It’s a floating harbour restaurant. Just be aware what you are paying for. The food is diner fair at best. The “ local favourite “ ribs are nothing special and the rock fish is fine. The chowder is good but the appetizer “ prawns “ are nothing more than de shelled shrimp no different than found in your average shrimp ring, taste like it to. Everything, just about, comes with a toasted slice of garlic bread. Even the “ prawns”. Why do I need garlic bread with my ribs ? And every dish is available with fries. Nothing wrong with all of the above except the prices. Guess we gotta pay for the float.

Please note that all food prices have gone up this year due to current situations around the world . Staffing is a major issue here and in Tofino . A lot of housing has been transformed into Air BNB , making very difficult to retain staff. In BC we have the highest minimum wage in the country! I need to pay my staff properly to afford housing . Hope you can understand this scenario! Hope you enjoyed your stay in Ukee!

FloatHouse Patio & Grill ( FP&G) — lactated actually on the water, not at the water, in the marina in the ocean village of Ucluelet — is more than one can wish for.
One walks down a sort of comfortable gang way to a restaurant afloat the sparkling waters, are seated with a good view of the marina & then served with attention & joy delicious food.
Its Seafood Chowder is a winner & draws people from far & wide, with line-up some days & nights, which happily move fairly fast usually.
FP&G has a good selection of dishes & all the dishes I have had over the years were delicious.
Prices too are good
It is a must if one is visiting Ukee, as the ocean village is called affectionately by locals, & is a favourite spot with residents.
It is open from April through October, closing for the cold months as many Ukee businesses do.
I expect to be there lining up when FP&G opens again in April

The Floathouse Patio & Grill is a perfect culinary fit for Ucluelet, both symbolically & food & ambiance wise.
The spectacular ocean village on Canada’s west coast has a long history of fishing & much of its early beginnings are based around its inner harbour. In fact, Ucluelet was named safe harbour by the first residents, who settled here some 4,300 years ago. Fishing & the inner harbor is at the heart of this fishing village.
Fishing has attracted many a fisher to its waters & still does.
Also attracted are summer visitors who come for myriad reasons but one of them is certainly to eat the delicious fish & seafood, which comes from the ocean village’s surrounding waters.
One such eatery offering fish & seafood is the wonderful Floathouse, which is actually located on the water right down in the Marina.
It reopened at the beginning of April & is an ideal place to eat at in the summer months, especially. The views are stunning, the food is good & its staff & management is as gracious as the surrounds.
It is a repeat winner of a local seafood chowder competition & I love its award-winning chowder @ 17$ a bowl & 12$ for a cup. Delicous.
Many do, thus its winner status.
Just:Bliss to eat from the sea while actually do so while floating on the ocean.
Its menu is extensive & offers far more than just fish & seafood.
It offers burgers — beef & chicken @ 24$ & a veggie burger @ 23$. It also serves pasta dishes, interesting bowl dishes & has a full bar.
It is popular with residents & visitors alike. It is no wonder — it is blissful dinning at its best.

FloatHouse Patio & Grill ( FP&G) reopens on April 5, something I — along with many of my fellow residents — am greatly looking forward to.
It is truly lactated on the water, not at the water, in the marina in the spectacular ocean village of Ucluelet.
It is more than one can wish for.
One walks down a sort of comfortable gang way to a restaurant afloat the sparkling harbour waters, are then seated with a good view of the marina & then served with attention & delicious food.
It is famous for its very tasty seafood chowder. It is a winner, both literally — often over the years taking the people’s choice at the local annual Whale festival — & as evidenced by the fact it draws people from far & wide, with line-up some days & nights, which happily move fairly fast usually.
Its Chef tells lovers of FP&G’s chowder it has come to this deliciousness from 10 years of tweaking to get it to this level of tastiness.
And the taste is certainly there. He & the sous chef & others on staff say it is good, too, because of its essential ingredient of love!
FP&G has a good selection of dishes & all the dishes I have had over the years have been delicious.
Prices, too, are good
It is a must if one is visiting Ukee, as the ocean village is called affectionately by locals, & is a favourite spot with residents.
It is open from April through October, closing for the cold months as many Ukee businesses do.
I was lucky enough to get a preview of what is in store when it opens for 2024 on April 5, as it showcased its greatly loved chowder at Ukee’s whale festival in mid March. I greatly enjoyed its tweaked to perfection chowder. I expect to be there lining up, if I need to, when FP&G reopens.

The food has improved greatly since I was here last year. Our group ordered the fish and chips, cheesesteak sandwich, seafood chowder and salad with goat cheese. All very delicious, and our server was just excellent. Full knowledge of the menu, attentive and friendly. We sat on the back deck and the adorable resident dog was as mellow and cute as can be. Highly recommend on a summer’s evening to enjoy good food, company, and the views. oh and we saw a sea lion dipping in and out of the water as we ate!

We were looking forward to trying this restaurant with it's lovely location close to our hotel. Unfortunately it was an underwhelming experience! I ordered a margarita but could not drink it, all I could taste was bottled lime juice. The waiter did remove it from our bill but seemed less interested in giving us any attention after that. My food - warm goats cheese salad, was uninspired. The goats cheese was tasty but the salad was mainly a plate of lettuce and salad leaves with a dressing, not worth the price. When there are limited dining options in this small town it is a shame they feel that mediocre is acceptable.

FYI , we buy fresh squeezed lime juice for our margaritas , and a high quality tequila . As for the salad , a fresh mix of Artisian salad heads and fresh grated and diced veggies added on top . Our dressings are made fresh daily . Our Goat cheese salad had been on the menu for 14 years , and this is the first complaint . Our Margaritas are new this year , and so far every one has loved them . Ive seen your other review , your sever has many years experience at 5 Star resorts and other fine establishments . BTW mediocre is not our Mantra!!

Well, just got back from a trip to Ucluelet. The Floathouse is close to being the best place to eat in either Ucluelet or Tofino. Trying to find a place to eat during the tourist season can be a problem. The night we went they were short staffed but that wasn’t a problem. Our waitress was exceptional. Sitting by the water is an experience in itself. This night was calm and warm. We had the chowder soup which I recommend having. We then ordered the smoked salmon and the rockfish. Both meals were to die for. My wife and I had more than enough to eat but ordered the apple crepes…….. whatever you do, leave room for dessert. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend our last night on the coast. Thank you.

We went here looking for a nice dinner. It was only 6:30 and they had run out of fish for fish and chips and fish tacos. The waitress was very busy so not so friendly. The food was ok, not very hot. There is a cute dog on site.

hello , i remember the nite we ran out of cod ... for the record it was around 7,30 at nite we were sold out of cod... We did double the amount of business than expected , therefore we were short staffed !! my staff are NOT RUDE , but were stressed for the sheer volume of guests !! hope you can understand that !! hope you enjoyed your stay in Ukee!!

We were in Uclulet for 3 nights & dined at FloatHouse twice
* The setting is very pretty. You can sit outdoors being surrounded by boats
* The menu is very extensive: ribs to seafood.
* Our dishes were chowder, fish & chips, blackened rockfish and warm goat cheese salad
* Their seafood chowder is spectacular
* The scene is very casual, shorts are OK
* Wine comes out of a box but it is quite acceptable
* Be sure to get a table that the superb server Mustafa has
* Wait times are usually minimal

We had a nice evening at the FloatHouse. I had the Ukee cheese steak with Caesar salad and my partner had a bowl of chowder. It was all pretty yummy and reasonably priced. The view of the marina was nice and peaceful! Service was quick and friendly.
