We enjoyed a delicious dinner at The Marans, the best we’ve had in several years! The pickerel filet topped with fennel salad was very fresh and light with balanced seasoning. The chocolate torte and the crème brûlée were both delicious deserts. The menu has vegetarian...choices and gluten free choices. We highly recommend The Marans restaurant in Picton. We will be back!More
The restaurant is cozy, unpretentious with local flavor. Family-run, three generations do the baking, prep, cooking and serving: flawless and joyful. The steak with mash and brussel sprouts was perfection! My husband's bouillabaisse was excellent! The owner assisted us with a teaser of two pinot...grisios to taste before presenting a great bottle for $52 (very resonable pricing!). We finished with a dainty, yet delicious creme broule and nice strong coffee. The young man (third generation of the family) who served our last course was charming, engaging and enthusiastic! We can't wait to return.More
All courses that each of us had were delicious and special. Service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. This was a very special meal!
Excellent food, expensive, but certainly good value. Good and warm service. Don’t miss the tuna pizza. It was fantastic. My wife enjoyed the salmon, and I really liked the truffle steak.
Small, intimate restaurant, with friendly knowledgeable staff. Short menu, but nice range of choices. This made our stay in Picton very enjoyable. Not inexpensive, but good value for the money.
My partner and I have had dinner twice at The Marans in 2021 and 2022. The menu has lots of variety and the food is wonderful. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the service is smooth and professional. We highly recommend this...restaurant to anyone visiting Picton, Ontario.More
We booked our reservation for The Marans months ago because we heard they were popular. My husband ordered a Manhattan and the balance of flavours were delicious. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and crisp. The salmon with the rhubarb and seasonal vegetables was amazing. Dinner...was completed with their crème brûlée. We highly recommend dining here.More
I’m always astounded by the amazing restaurants in my hometown. The Marans is one of the best. Their 5 course tasting menu had everyone at our table buzzing with how delicious every dish was. The scallop & salmon fish cake on top of a creamy...carrot risotto was my favourite. The decor is simple but pretty & fun.More
First, The Marans is a lovely space and we enjoyed the atmosphere. This was one of three higher end meals we had in PEC and The Marans was notable for its seating. The seating is very private, you have your own little space. Not sure...if it was like this pre Covid or if they moved into this space during Covid, but the privacy was very much appreciated, especially after a day of driving. It was nice to de-stress and get into vacation mode without being right beside others. In retrospect, we wished we had selected the tasting menu and the wine pairing. We did very much enjoy our food (ceviche and tartare for me, steak for my partner). The ceviche could have used a bit more grapefruit and shrimp. We were surprised by their limited local wine selection and the wine price seemed a bit elevated. It could be because they have a partnership with one winery. We did have a bottle of the local red and it was delicious. Service was very good. Experienced servers and enough of them to service the restaurant, so it felt like they were calm and attentive. Overall, this was an excellent experience.More
Amazing experience! This is my favourite kind of restaurant…a small perfect menu, flawlessly executed by the chef and kitchen staff. The service was professional but enthusiastic. On a very hot day, the rhubarb & grapefruit marinated tuna and prawn ceviche was refreshing with the flavours...melting together. The caviar deviled eggs were perfect and a feast for the eyes. We had the shiitake risotto as mains, perfectly seasoned with the wonderful mushroom earthiness not overwhelmed but enhanced by the other ingredients. Desert was a salted brownie with brandied cherries, vanilla ice cream & espresso buttercream. Everyone who said they would not partake asked for spoons!More
Went with a group of three couples at the end of a day of wine touring. We went for a dinner with a wine pairing for three courses. The food was spectacular and presented well. The server was fast, friendly, engaging and had a great...sense of humour. She added to the overall experience. A+++ The restaurant was very careful when they heard one of our group had celiac and explained how they cooked in separate pots, etc. They even carried out the meal separately than the other plates so there would be no chance of cross contamination. Very respectful and accommodating. We will definitely be back.More
An amazing tasting menu staff made us feel welcome and attention to detail was present. The tasting menu items were Plated nicely and served quickly. We enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. a definite fine dinning venue truly to be enjoyed.
Very careful Covid rules, friendly service, and a different tasting menu with wine accompaniments than we had experienced before Really enjoyed the experience..
Everything on the menu looked fantastic, so we went with the tasting menu paired with wine flights. Outstanding food and service. Recommended!
