Visited for dinner. We were staying in a nearby village which does not have it's own pub. We looked at the previous reviews and thought we would give it a try. I have given it a 3 rating because based on our experience it is only average. The pub building is very nice, it's old and very much what you... More

We drive past this pub twice a day and decided after year living in a village nearby, to pay this pub a visit for lunch. It was a lovely spring day so we could eat outside (The inside looked equally inviting). I had game pie and my partner had veggie burger in a brioche bun. Both were really nice meals... More

Met friends at this fine village pub for Sunday lunch. We ate at a long scrubbed pine table in the attractive bar area and chose our food from an appetising menu which included roasts. There is also a restaurant area if you prefer a more formal setting. We enjoyed the food, drinks and friendly service and would recommend this pub... More

It was my husband's 70th Birthday and we were staying at West Tytherley for the weekend so we had a party of eleven ranging from 5yrs up to the birthday grandpa. I had booked the long table in the bar but when we arrived we quickly realised that it was not suitable as the room had a log fire and... More

My husband & I spent a couple of nights staying in a local B&B. We visited The Black Horse for dinner on our first Night. Good food and a warm welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed it so much we went back for their steak and quiz night. Although most people there were obviously locals we didn't feel left out. Again good... More

The beers and ciders have been of a constant good quality and variety over the years and the food has always been on the plus side of alright to good. I happily take visitors there.

We ate here last week and were the only people dining, the pub has I believe recently been taken over by new owners but they need to do something about putting themselves on the map. The place is a bit dark inside and could do with a spruce up. I was not impressed when the sleeves of my shirt kept... More

Description
The Black Horse is a classic country pub extending a warm welcome to all its visitors. We sell good beer and good home cooked food at reasonable prices. The menu comprises local produce as well as offering fresh fish and seasonal specialities. Open fires, exposed beams and bags of character, The Black Horse ticks all the boxes for most people's idea of an English Inn. The pub has a skittle alley available for hire all the year round with a variety of hot and cold menus. We are proud recipients of 2013 SHants CAMRA Pub Of The Year. We are also a community pub, being at the centre of the village in more ways than just geographically. Open for Lunch :- Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun. Evening meals:- Thurs, Fri and Sat.
