Stopped in by chance today for lunch. Absolutely the best German meal I've ever had here after living here for 4 years. The dessert selection was perfect as well. Such a friendly owners. Very helpful! Perfect English. I'd definitely come here over and over.
Having coffee and cake on a Sunday afternoon is a wonderful German tradition and the Loreley Cafe is a great place to take part. All the pastries are made on the premises. There is usually a wide selection as long as you don't arrive to...late in the afternoon (many locals stop in for take out). The quality is first rate and so are the prices. While enjoying your treat you can sit by the window and watch boats go by on the Rhein. What a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.More
Just had dinner here and it was very tasty. The portions were large and served up relatively quickly. We sat in the back outside in a very interesting area amidst some old buildings. Lots of character and charm. The server was very friendly and fun...to interact with. I had a large schnitzel plate and it was very tasty but a little on the greasy side. My friend had a salad and it was absolutely huge.More
We were on our way to Rudesheim and stopped at pot luck, but were very pleased. This was also a cake shop and coffee shop and an array of gorgeous cakes were set out on our way into the restaurant. I ordered a Herring (Matjes)...salad-a special delicacy with fried potatoes and my husband a 'Strammer Max'- a large slice of bread with thin black forest ham with two fried eggs on the top. They were excellently cooked by a charming native German lady who chatted to us about where we should go. The food arrived quickly and she was kind, professional and attentive! The measure of our opinion was enhanced by the fact that so many native St Goarshausen people were using it for their lunch too. It was a lovely relaxing and a culinary experience, with a beautiful side salad. Given it was so easy being right on the road(!) just remember in Germany, that the car must be parked in the run of the traffic , so you might need to turn round and you can still park right in front, with a lovely view of the Rhine next door and all its traffic! What's not to like?More
