First dinner after hiking the NCT and the cape Scott trail and it was awesome!! I had the nachos, wings and beers! Phillips on tap made for a pleasant beer choice and the food was great! Service was good although our server was quite quiet...and somewhat disconnected from serving us…don’t get me wrong, she did ok, but she seemed distant…it did not take away from fresh food and beers tho!! We got the food in a reasonable time and our drinks came on time too! Definitely going to go back when we visit town!!More

I'd like to think of Ha'Me as an up-and-coming must-visit spot. We'd never been in the north island and discovered that after 8pm there was nearly nothing open. It was serendipity to find Ha'me' restaurant - it's off-season and we were the only just-before-closing guests....The food is Canadian/ European with a definite local twist and flavour that they will be expanding upon. Our server was friendly, helpful and thoughtful: I was so grateful that she brought me a booklet about the art when she saw I was interested. Spouse and I shared a bowl of seafood chowder - hot, hearty and delicious. While I had the salmon and risotto, the spouse was not very hungry and had the 'salmon 3 ways'. Everything was tasty... there was a little unevenness to my meal: the risotto was a little wet and bland, the chef thought that the salmon might be slightly overdone and offered to cook a new one, and my veg arrived a few minutes later than my meal. Was the salmon overdone? A little - but some folks (my folks) would prefer it that way and the un-requested offer of replacement shows dedication to getting it right. My meal was was hot, fresh and tasty. I ordered a glass of the house white - a indigenous-winery-made blend that was rich and buttery like chardonnay... perfect for wandering around and REALLY looking at the great art around the room. This was a find. I judge experience and value - and I found both here. I know they are ironing out the rough edges, but it's pretty darn great. I'll be back.More

The service was very quick and friendly. The decor was interesting, with native masks and decorations all over the walls. The food was pretty good. We had the halibut with Cajun seasoning and the chicken penne (served with bannock), as well as the apple crisp...for dessert. My partner raised the question as to why they were not keeping with their theme by serving non-traditional dishes, but we still enjoyed the food. I would not, however, recommend the apple crisp as it seemed to be deep fried and was cold in the middle.More

We were staying overnight in the remodelled Kwa'Lilas hotel and decided to eat in Ha'Me because it was convenient and our daughter had eaten there in the summer and recommended it to us. My wife had the halibut and salmon spaghetti and I had the...braised beef with noodles and both were excellent. We had a nice bottle of wine as well as crème brulée for desert. The price was reasonable for the quality and the servers were excellent.More

We waited at the door (by the sign that said to wait to be seated) for what must have 15-20 minutes and no one came to speak to us - even though one member of staff had looked at us at least 3 times. They...were not full and did not look particularly busy. We gave up and walked into town. We had a very warm and immediate welcome and delicious meal at The Sporty bar even though they were catering for a party of 45 Coastguards as well as all their regulars.More

We stopped here for dinner on a night when they were low on staff,,, May have been a scheduling error but the staff that were there never stopped. They were friendly while working extremely hard. The food was excellent we had the seafood spaghetti, which...was a very nice twist on an Italian favourite. Highly recommend it! Would definitely go again and try some other dishes.More

Two of us and a table of 7 both sat at the same time. No one else in the restaurant. We ordered a two drinks before the table of 7. The table of 7 received their drinks before us and as the waitress walked by...and said she'll get our drinks right away. we ordered food. Calamari to start, steak frites and burger. Calamari never came out and our mains came out BEFORE WE EVEN GOT OUR DRINK! It was ridiculous. I got my drink and my friend did not get his. I had to stop her while she was walking by to remind her he ordered a drink too. The food was delicious. But the service was terrible.More

Ha'me has numerous good dishes. Some of my favourites include: tuna lettuce wraps, the Blunden Harbour Roll (5 star), the halibut special, the rice bowls, the chicken wings. The service is generally pretty good.

One night stay at the adjoining hotel and advised this restaurant was one of the best in town. Had reserved table but kept waiting an age to be seated. Several options of wine and starters had sold out but were not told of this. Food...was variable. Some really good And generous starters were followed by some pretty ordinary pasta main courses and service was mixed too. Very lacking in atmosphere. A few pieces of indigenous style art on walls do not mask conference hotel style furnishings. Not bad but could be so much better especially for the price charged.More

The good news is, you can get fresh seafood here and it’s not fried! The bad news is the chef does not know how to make risotto so please don’t order that. I had the halibut and it was delicious but the citrus risotto underneath...was like gruel. My chowder was very tasty but I could hardly find the seafood in it. Our server was professional and attentive but the others were sullen and unprofessionally dressed. We had three dinners in Port Hardy and all of them were disappointing. This little town needs to really up its game if it’s going to entertain all the European travelers passing through.More

The First Nations Restaurant that is inside the Kwa’lilas Hotel is walking a line between cultural heritage and tourism service. Lighting is low, beautiful masks and artwork adorn the walls, tables are covered with white tablecloths with black diamond centre and black napkins. Wine list...is limited, but adequate. Food choices range from starters and casual fare to mains which are more substantial. Prices are mid to high range, expected from a restaurant catering to a higher end traveller. I had a glass of a white wine from an Okanaga aboriginal winery - very favourable. We shared a quinoa & kale salad, which was large for 1 but perfect to share. The bannock was perfect, not bitter. My partner had roasted vegetable penne, which had only carrots as the vegetable in a tomato sauce. Ordinary. I had the daily special which was pan seared halibut with a citrus sauce over gooey ricepilaf. Wild rice would have been a smarter choice here. Halibut was perfect and flaky and a nice portion. It came with carrots and green beans. We passed on dessert because we wanted to be outside before the sun set. Service was slow. It was a “ferry night”. If you want to be out before late, go there by 6 before the kitchen gets backed up. Reservations recommended on these busy ferry nights in the summer.More

After a long drive up to Port Hardy, we were eager for food and decided to go to the restaurant in the hotel, Ha'me'. This is an above average hotel restaurant and exceeded all of our expectations. We enjoyed the mushroom risotto and daily halibut...special, and were waited on by Georgia who was personable and professional. We will definitely eat here the next time we're in town!More
