Unexpected!

We are exploring the Sunshine Coast and Powell River and The Beach Garden Resort was our first stop on our tour. We decided to check out the Seasider Restaurant for an appy and a couple of drinks. We entered the restaurant and were quickly greeted and seated in the lounge. My wife decided we should try sitting out on the patio, great decision the patio was beautiful. Our server turned out to be the restaurant manager, Corinne! Corinne was friendly funny informative and attentive but not to attentive that you would think she was hovering. We started with mussels, andouille sausage in a white wine garlic sauce with French fries. Now I don't quite get the fench fries mussel thing and still don't lol but it's bloody delicious! Needless to say our few drinks and a apply turned into a full blown dining and wining evening of joy and laughs. Oh and dessert! Thank you Corinne for your exceptional service that you and your staff shared with us. Ken and Jan

Location amazing, food ok, value far less than expected

We were taken as guests to the Seasider. We had been once before about a year ago and almost same impression. First off the view and location is simply stunning. No arguing that whatsoever. The food was fairly good but almost all the dishes had some East Indian aspect to them. I did enjoy the seafood spaghettini. As for the spices, fine for me but not for people who are somewhat adverse to some. The other thing that stood out to me is, and it has taken years but, I have finally seen a hamburger for $25?????? Outrageous..Dinner for 3 with desert, a beer no wine tip etc came to over $170. Now I have easily paid that in the past when the cuisine justified that but I did find this to be expensive for the value for 2 plates of pasta and a hamburger? If they want to make it through the off season they should have locals pricing. Preretirement we went 1 or 2 times a week out for dinner. At these prices once a month is about all we can afford. Have a tourist menu during the season but don't overcharge the people who keep the doors open year round.... As others had mentioned the live music was nice but at times so overpowering we could not enjoy casual conversation at the table. Down 2 notches and would be fine, it does add to the ambience. Final synopsis is if they reduced the menu prices by about 25% it would be busier and hold more value.

Great oceanside patio with awesome view. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We each ordered different dishes and they arrived togethet (two separate trips by wait staff required). Friendly staff made for an enjoyable dining experience.

Our friends and I chose this restaurant for New Year’s Eve because of their menu. We arrived at 6:30. They took our drink order. We ordered our meals five minutes later. 10 minutes later the waitress came back to tell us they were out of escargot - at 6:30 on New Year’s Eve.? Our second choice was a delicious salad. When we got our main meals. When we got our meals, the herbed mashed potatoes had been replaced with boiled baby potatoes. There may have been salt and a drop of butter on them.When we inquired the waitress said.” they must have run out of mashed.”What restaurant runs out of mashed potatoes on a regular night let alone New Year’s Eve? As my husband explained, when you pay $45 for dinner you expect to get what has been advertised. This restaurant has been a consistent disappointment. They did comp us one dessert, which we hadn’t intended on ordering anyway, as we had plans for dessert elsewhere. We have given this place numerous chances. New Year’s Eve was their last chance and they failed. Our waitress was delightful, however, the person that delivered our meal clearly didn’t want to be there.

Great server, terrible overpriced food

Great server, terrible food. Our sever was fantastic, but after waiting 40 minutes for our meal (5.30 reservation, so not at all busy) we were disappointed to say the least. Fries overcooked and cold, overcooked ribs looked like they came from a box from the Supermarket. Burgers bland. The fish was good minus the chips. We were given more fries and roast potatoes to compensate. I’ve been in the summer and had the seafood spaghettini was lovely. We are local and won’t be back. It’s a shame as the location is great, maybe with a cheaper pub like menu and a less formal dining room, we’d come back and linger

Beautiful setting with weak service and disappointing food.

Service started and ended weak. Neither server, nor hostess could comment on menu, not having tried any of the items asked about… Food showed up shockingly fast, even before the drink order. Shrimp were warm outside and cool inside, texture suggested undercooked. Caesar salad was dry and underwhelming. Server didn’t come back to check on my meal and when I mentioned food quality to someone else, I still got presented with 100 percent of the bill with no mention made of my poor experience. Don’t be fooled by the view, this place isn’t cheap, go elsewhere…

Went for dinner. The waitress made us wait, eventhoug there were open tables and had reservations. There was a couple who did not have reservations behind us and wanted to sit at the bar. They were told to also wait. We waited for 5 minutes and the couple behind us left. The same waitress sat us down to the empty table and asked if we wanted something to drink, we said water. She did not end up bringing us the water. Our server finally came with 2 glasses of water. Her name was Alexis and was very nice. We ordered right away and told her that we would be sharing everything. Our salad came and we were given little side plates, which were more like bread plates. We could not fit half the salad in one, but we used them anyways. Our entrees were brought to us by the waitress that sat is down. I asked her for bigger plates and she forgot all about it. I.asked Alexis.and she gladly brought them. The food was very tasty, but the ingredients I felt were not up to par for the cost. The prawns were actually shrimp and tge shell fish were small in size. We are in times were everyone is having difficulty finding staff, but they are in the service industry and must be courteous and helpful. Alexis was the only one with great smile and paid proper attention. If they are going to charge that kind of money, we have to feel that theeal is of value. This was not

My wife and I go there for fish and chips after returning from our boating trips into Desolation Sound. Last night instead of fresh cut Belgium fries we got Mcains frozen fries and fish out of a box in the freezer Big disappointment, we complained and were told new chef too bad so sad. Will not retrun

I went for dinner not a rock concert

A group of us went for dinner, specifically asked for a table we could all sit and talk at. When we arrived, noticed there was a mic set up right beside us, oh don't worry, said the wait staff, we have someone coming in to play acoustic guitar, won't bother you at all. At 6 pm, the guitar player arrived and began his LOUD set. So loud, we couldn't hear at all and the staff moved us, but not far enough. This was not classical music, no, this was ACDC. We ate our meal, which was fabulous, yet, we ate fast, and didn't stay for dessert or coffee. Tips were low as we were so disappointed. We did complain and they said, we've asked him to turn it down 3 times, but to no avail. I won't be back if there is live music. The venue is too small. We stood outside talking and met couple after couple coming out, all with the same complaint.

Great food, great service, great setting!!

We picked this place because of the nice write up in a brochure and were not disappointed at all. It is right on the water front, beautiful setting, nice, comfortable outdoor furniture. We were able to pick a table with a great view and nice shade. The service was impeccable, very friendly and attentive. There was a photo shoot going on because Chef Trevor created a new Caesar Salad dish. At the end of the shoot the salad was offered to us on the house, and it tasted as good as it looked. Everything was perfect!! Highly recommend this place.

A 'Find"

I consider the Seasider Bistro one of those “finds”. Set on a waterfront shore of the Georgia Strait with views of Tuxedo and Harwood Island, the Seasider breathes West Coast. And, to me, this seems to inspire the menu and approach….they do not stop at ordinary with what they create and serve. There’s special touches in what they offer and serve. They care what they put out. The Braised Mussels was a tasty serving with perfectly done ‘frites’. The Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese was both very tasty and generous in its portion. Any item on their varied menu will not disappoint. Wonderful patio. Enjoy.

Best chicken wings ever

I believe the manager ensured the workers were prompt to serve us with top notch service. In the beginning, it was a little slow but there was a lot of people i guess. Food was amaaaaaaaazing. We all really liked the chicken wings (Hawker Style) and the seafood pasta was pretty good. Poutine was good, burgers were good, just everything we got was good. Can't go wrong. Only downside was we were unable to make resos and could not sit at the patio because it was already full! Super popular - highly recommend you make resos if you want the patio view!!!

Not Good. We just got back from dinner. Small portions and Luke warm. Our server never asked how our meals were and no follow up. The severs don’t seem interested in their work and portions for price are small and inadequate. I would not recommend

Enjoyed a awesome meal at this pleasantly decorated restaurant. Service was quick and the chicken pie was delicious. It wouldn’t normally be an item I’d order in a restaurant so we were pleased that it was as good or better than home made.

Disappointing

We took a friend here for dinner. An open, airy, spacious well appointed restaurant. Looked lovely. The staff were in conversation when we entered and I felt we were an inconvenience. The paper menus had obviously been handled by many - so much for sanitation. The waiter was not unpleasant but far from welcoming. (There were lots of wait staff, so she was not hassled). The food was mediocre at best, yet the prices did not reflect this. We tried the ribs, burger and cod and chips. With two beer, over $100.
